Welcome to the team! Remember it is a lifestyle change. Take baby steps. Start slow and set goals. When you reach a goal, reward yourself for it. Drink lots of water. At least 8-8 oz. glasses of water a day. It flushes your body of the impurities. Water is so important. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

I agree whole-heartedly with KLSMOMMY.

Tracking your intake is going to be your eye-opener and your saving grace. Enter EVERYTHING you eat (even if you eat, say, an entire pint of ice cream in one sitting...not that I've ever DONE that, but you know...) ;-) you need to record it so you recognize where you are and how you can change your eating habits.

Remember there is an area where you can enter your own recipes to determine the nutrient content - it's under "Healthy Lifestyle" then "Sparkrecipes.com." I've found this especially helpful as I make chili, or recipes from a friend or from an old cookbook, etc.

There is also a free app for SparkPeople for your iPhone if you have one, so you can track your food while you're on the go.

Best wishes!

Welcome!! You've come to the right place. emoticon

My advice is to start small, changing one thing at a time. I started with logging. Not even changing what I ate, just getting it all written down and paying attention to what I ate and how I felt. Then I started working on drinking more water.

It has been "slow" for me, but steady and I have been able to work things into my life in a way that feels sustainable.

Hi all! My name is Jenny and I just found this site via yahoo. I feel like I've tried everything and nothing has seemed to work. I love the idea of having people to talk to who are going through the same thing as me! Lord knows I need the motivation so I'm very thankful I found this site. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!
