Welcome to Sparkpeople and Ohio Buckeye Beauties! As with anything else, you'll get out of it what you put into it. Reaching goal is huge.............**maintaining it** is what I struggle with the most. I've come to look at this as a *lifestyle* change NOT a "diet". One is very permanent, the other lets us do something temporary to reach a temporary spot........only to have to do it all over again when our changes don't "take". THAT's the part I'm working on.

Good luck to you in your journey! This is a great place to support and encourage, but YOU have to do the work!!

re: biking. Go in the earlier morning or later in the evening until it cools down.

This is my 170000 time trying to hit a goal by my birthday. I have come a long way but have been stuck for over a year now, going up 5 lbs going down 5 lbs. My birthday is August 30 and I want to be 160 pounds by then, I'll be turning 58 years old. I recently quit smoking, just over a month ago and have joined a water aerobics class which I'm trying to get out to 3 times a week at least. I have a bad knee so it limits my walking and other aerobic type exercise although I can ride my bike, it's just too darn hot to right now.
I need motivation and a kick in the butt! I've heard a lot of good things about Sparkpeople and hope to be a success story! emoticon
