“Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.” Franklin D. Roosevelt

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government."
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. "
I joined this site 5 1/2 years ago, but was not ready to commit to changing my food choices. During that time I have, by the grace of God, learned how to make lifestyle changes( as opposed to dieting). My biggest moment came just recently, when I was out eating with friends and realized I was enjoying a wonderful meal, guilt-free, because I had really learned how to control my carbs, instead of my carbs controling me! I am still dealing with obesity and health problems, so I want to fine-tune what I'm learning and find practical, realistic ways I can keep improving. I look forwad to finding mentors and encouragement here!
