Hello out there!!

I am semi-new as I have posted other questions on the board previously. I am 26 years old. I am married. I have weight issues, as well as PCOS. I just had my consultation on December 16th in El Paso, TX. It was very informational and I am so excited to start this journey! I weighed in at 314.8 pounds. I am 6'0" tall, so I am really not sure what to expect from the surgery, but I am in need of it.

I found out that I do not have waiting period, nor do I have to do a pre-op diet. The Dr. told me to stay where I am and just to pick a date! Well, my problem is that I have to work. I am hoping to schedule my op appt. for the 2nd week fo March (hopefully March 7th or 8th). This is the Wed or Thur before my spring break, so I am hoping that the 12 days will be enough for a recovery time. The Dr. seems to think it will be, so heres to hoping! Otherwise, I will have to wait until the summer, but I do not want to wait that long.

I have been doing alot of research online, watching YouTube videos about people's stories and journies, and of course reading up on it here. I am so excited about all the things that I am learning that I am kind of upset I have to wait so long. I did find out, though, that on patients that have PCOs currently, 100% of them showed no signs of PCOS upon post-op check-ups. ( I have researched this online as well, to ensure that it was not a false statement). The study was done in June 2011 on a group of patients that had surgery and had PCOS prior to surgery. This information made my decision much easier on choosing the Roux-En-Y bypass.

As of now, I am trying to get all the pre-op information together. I am going to contact the psychologist tomorrow to schedule an appt, and I am also going to schedule an appt with my PCP to discuss this. my PCP had bypass too, so she can provide me with some good insight!

I am really looking forward to this journey and what it has to offer. I'll try to keep updated with everyone so I can assk questions for those of you who have had the surgery for years, just recently had surgery, or are anticipating surgery.

I look forward to talking with all of you.

If you have any burning information for me to know, or any great websites I should look at, please do not hesitate to contact me. My e-mail is jennshua@live.com. Just put something in the topic that is related to this post (as I get TONS of spam and don't want to inadvertently ignore your suggestions). The keyword can be LoveChub.

Thanks for listening!
