Cosmic-sounds like you have your act together. It is a little ruff when you first get home. I don't think it is anything you can't handle. Just keep us in mind and remember we are here for you.
SleepingBeau_ty-it is getting closer to your date I was wondering how you are doing? Keep us posted on how things are going and if there is anything we can help with.

Sounds like you have done a great job in preparing for surgery! Do not forget to bring a magazine or book to the hospital as the days are long and boring.
I would also recommend getting gas-ex chewable or ask your doctor about a liquid version. Gas is the most common complaint after surgery. I know my sister had to rush out to the store and get me some after I called the surgeon because of gas pain to see what he would allow me to take! So ask the surgeon now so that you will have it on hand at home if you need it! I still use the chewable gas-ex sometimes and chewable probiotics.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I bought the books you recommended and have most of the kitchen prep done.

I believe I still need to purchase liquid tylenol.

I only have one quart of soy milk and one quart of almond milk, but I'm thinking if I can only consume one ounce at a time and find I am lactose intolerant, then the quarts should hold me for a week or so...right?

The medical practice that I chose recommends a clear liquid protein drink following surgery, so I have purchased 14 bottles of it in different flavors...which should last pre-surgery and post-surgery.

I bought baby spoons, sippy cups (because I'm aliquid gulper), and custard size cups to hold my food/pudding/broth. Sugar free pudding, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles and sugar free fudgsicles.

Have I forgotten anything you can think of? Oh, I got some Depends too (sorry guys)...in case of post surgery issues.

Thank you all for being here!

Welcome CosmicQuest! I will add you to the surgery calendar and to my prayer list. Be sure to check out the messages on recent posts for those who are pre-surgery. I list a few books and websites that are useful. I encourage you to post your questions but remember that although we have had gastric bypass surgery we are not doctors and so you should run everything by your medical team before trying anything.
Since your surgery is close be sure to prepare your kitchen, buy a small blender or magic bullet, 6 inch plates, small utinsils and prepare some items from your dieticians food lists for the first couple of food stages so that you do not have to cook those first couple of weeks. I prepared foods and froze them in small 1 oz and 2 oz baby food containers. It really helped to have foods and tastes that I enjoyed.
Prepare what you plan to take to the hospital. I recommend bringing lots of chapstick and a nice robe for when you are walking up and down the halls. Ask the nurses what the walking record is for gastric bypass patients. In my hospital it was 13 laps (9 laps was 1 mile according to the nurses). I did 27 laps in one day. A new record. I encourage you to try to set a new record at your hospital. Walking helps reduce the pain and is the fastest and best way to get rid of any gas and bloating.

I may not have chosen the right tab to Introduce Myself on. But I thought I'd start here. I have joined Spark People and have joined this team because I have a date for Gastric Bypass Surgery. 11/23/2011.

I would appreciate thoughts and prayers.

Thank you!
