Glad to help. I usually do about 25 min. of aerobics. If you stop early, you lose all the exercises that were added when you increased the difficulty. ( the level 5 exercises didn't ever show up no matter how often I said "no sweat" then found out how to increase it during a workout.). I know it's not so much like "playing a game" but for me it sure beats doing the same DVD over and over. Pam

Good info for me too. I've been using MFC for a couple weeks. I had figured out if I answer no sweat it helps to increase the activity level. If you say can't keep up she slows down even more or if yous elect working hard, she keeps it at the same level. I didn't know that about the minus button and being able to change the difficulty level like that. I will try it. Also like your idea about the weighted gloves (need to get rid of the chicken wings flapping about)

Yes it is a bit more like a DVD, but every time is different. I use the cardio almost every day and if you add a step it gives lots more variety. If you tell her it was no sweat it will get harder. If you want to unlock some of the harder exercises, pause the game( the minus button), select" increase difficulty",then continue. I also wear weighted gloves and hold small hand weights for part of the cardio. It' really toned my upper body. Then I select core as my long range goal and it ends up with some ab work and then the stretching( good if you get tired of those leg exercises all the time). Hope this helps make it better for you. Let me know. I've been exercisisng with Mia for years. Pam

The workouts seem okay ... I think they will get harder as we progress, and I suppose that is good.
To me, this one is more like watching/doing an exercise DVD, than playing a Wii game. There really isn't a connection between what/whether I do the exercise, and the performance of the game. Since I am not holding the remote, there is no measurement, and there don't really seem to be awards.
And then the calories listed seem very low for whatever I do. A 30 minutes workout is like 60 calories? Surely more than that.

Thanks, I finally figured out I can just turn it off with the remote power button.

SkyValleyGirl: After your workout, it should go to the screen that says workout ... again. The bottom entry is end session, pick that.
Then it goes to where it says Load Profile ...
At that point, just press the home button on your wii remote and return to the wii menu.
Hope this helps!

I'm not sure what happened. When I finish a fitness evaluation, after I set up the weekly schedule, it just comes back to the first screen with the choices of work out, etc. Hope yours is working ok. Pam

I too received MFC for CHristmas. I am generally pretty techno challenged. I went through the evaluation last night trying to get set up and some pre-exposure before the New Year. I already ran into a tech question I hope someone can tell me what I missed in trying to close the program. When I finished the eval I couldn't figure out how to even get out of the program. I ended up just removing the disk and turning off the tv. I'm just hoping when I go home tonight my evaluation is still there. Anyone have any input for me??

I hope you like it as much as I do. I still use mine almost every day,. I use a step and have core set as my long term goal so I do the aerobics and follow it up with some ab work and stretching. Let me know if you have any questions about the game. Pam

I am getting MFC for Christmas, so that will be my new program as we start the new year. I'm looking forward to it.
I did just complete the 9 week program in EASA2, but I agree, my knees need a little bit of a rest.
(I had it from the library once, but that was just for a week).

The thing I would suggest is getting a heart rate monitor at some point. There are plenty out there that will give you your calorie burn on them. I love mine and I feel like it gives me a more accurate count of what I burned.

I love MFC. For the cardio part, I log it as high or low impact step( I use a step with mine) then you could log the strength as just general weight training. If you don't use a step it could be cardio dance or anything similar. The minutes is the important thing. Yes, the calorie count sounds way too low. Pam

I just tried My Fitness Coach for the first time this morning.
The fitness evaluation about did me in! But the workout part was pretty good.
I did the first workout, it was 15 minutes of cardio and strength with hand weights. The game said I burned 39 calories -- surely that is way too low!!! I know it was more than that!
How do you log your MFC workout in SparkPeople fitness tracker?

I have also disabled slow songs. Everything under 140 is gone.

Just a note about Walk It Out: You can disable certain songs. I disabled all of the slow songs, and it made the game better.

Princeton Lady, That's a great idea. I haven't considered fooling with the play list, but that may do the trick. I just may have to open up my WIO again ;-).

Thanks! I"m determined to finish this 6-week challenge, so I got back up on the horse and did the lower body workout. I post to Facebook each time I finish a workout to keep me accountable. Only 6 workouts to go! Tomorrow is an upper body day. I enjoy those days the most. I love the sparring and boxing in the game.
I too have had problems with it measuring my movements. I notice it is worse when the batteries in the Wiimote are low.
Regarding, WIO... When I'm doing a fast song ( more than 60 beats per minute), I feel like I get a good workout. I haven't unlocked that many songs with that tempo. There are too many songs that are less than 100 beats per minutes. Doing those is torture because they are so slow. My normal pace seems to be around 120. Once I have all the songs, I think I'm going to arrange my playlist so that it starts out with songs in the 120-130 range, then gradually increase up to the 170-180 level, then bring it back down to 120-130. Or in the middle, I might do an interval by having a 170-180 song followed by a 140-150. I think that would be a better workout than having a random 170 song , followed by a 90 song, followed by a 140.

Well, thanks for the welcomes, All! It is really nice to be received so warmly.
Princeton, I'm impressed that you're that far into the EA Sports Active. I really liked everything about the program, except: 1) It seemed like it never read my movements. It got so that I would do the exercise once with the strength bands, and then another time with just the controller so it would register my motions. I can get around this one. 2) The leg thing. Don't get me wrong, I really like working my legs, it's just my knees right now do not, so I have to be careful. I'm hoping to do EASA in a few months, when my knees aren't bearing such a burden, and the supporting muscles are stronger.
Do you find that Walk it Out gives you a good workout? I've only done it for a few weeks, but it never seemed to get my heart pumping. A shame really, because I like the concept, just wish it were a bit more intense.
Whatever you end up doing tomorrow, have a fantastic workout!
Peace, Tom

I look forward to reading your blog. I'm currently on Week #5 of the EA Sports Active More Workouts 6-week challenge. I agree that the squats, lunges, and jumps are getting to be too much.
My next workout is a Leg/Cardio day, and I have been avoiding it by doing Walk it Out instead. I'm so close to finishing though, so I will stick with the challenge. I have MFC, so I may take a look at it when I'm done with the EA challenge.

Sounds like you're way ahead of me! I limp through the workouts, keep telling it I'm working hard, hoping that means they'll stay about the same, but hoping it doesn't increase for a while!! And, of course, skipping is out! But I do like the honest-to-goodness workouts. The games are fun, but nothing beats grabbing some iron and pumping it a few times :-).
And to everyone, thank you for the welcome! I'll be lurking an hopefully posting, regularly.

Hi Tom and welcome back. I'm a big MFC fan. I love how it keeps going with only the short breaks for water( most other games have so much standing around). I set my long term goal as core, that way every time I use it the ending is ab work and stretching. I got so tired of those leg exercises. I use it mainly for cardio and it can really work up a sweat. If you haven't unlocked the hardest exercises yet, you need to pause the game( it's either the plus or minus) and increase difficulty. Also I like to turn off the music and use some workout music with about 130 BPM. Good luck with your goals. Pam

Hello, all,
You may or may not remember me. I was in the group about a year ago, and then got hungry, left, gained it all and more back, and came back. Familiar cycle, but, things are going well now. I'll blog about that later.
By the way, my name is Tom, and I'm a stay-at-home and homeschooling daddy to my 3 kidlets by day, and work in a bank mortgage center at night.
I'm also working my way down from 305 lbs, now down to 285. I'm using my Wii as my exercise buddy. I was doing "Walk it Out" for a while, but it just seemed that it didn't get my heart pumping. Spent 2 weeks doing mainly games on the Wii Fit Plus, but wanted something a bit more serious. Now I'm using My Fitness Coach. I'm actually kinda bummed that there are no balance board interfaces, but I liked the measuring, tracking, and more comprehensive fitness test when I started. I'd love to share your experiences of that program, or any others (I've also used EA Sports Active, but it's routines are really heavy on squats and lunges, and my knees are on the sore side. I'd like to go back to it, but not for another 25 lbs or so.
Anyway, I hope y'all will say "howdy." I'll be blogging about my experiences, nutritional, exercise, and otherwise. I look forward to getting acquainted, or as the case may be, reacquainted, with some of you.
Have an awesome night! Peace, Tom
