Congrats on graduating and getting on with Headstart!!! I know our local headstart is really moving towards more of a social work approach working with families. I remember the toll grad school, life stressors, and having a baby my last year of grad school took on my weight! But with the right support here, you can lose it!!

My name is Christina and I just graduated in April from Oakland U with a Bachelor's in Social Work. It took me 14 years to finally graduate college, and after many career changes and classes, I finally did it. I even just landed employment in my field as a Family Advocate in a Head Start program in Detroit yesterday! But I don't start until August. I am excited, nervous, and not believing in this real life. My dream career is almost upon me and I still don't feel like a real life adult (even though I am almost 32!). I am happy to be working with families! This is what I did for my internship and I loved it a lot!
This isn't my first time using SparkPeople. The last time I was on here, I just re-entered school.... I didn't even pick my major yet. I have been struggling with my weight all of my life. Before I entered school, I was down to 305. However, full time school, work, and life stress took its toll on me. I am reigniting my journey for my self care at 340 lbs. I don't want to put my life on hold any longer, because it will be cut short. My ultimate goal is to get down to a reasonable 140-150. My shorter term goal is to lose as much as I can before I enter grad school next year.
