My name is Jay and I am a 51 yr old divorced father of 4 (with 2 grand kids) going through some transitions right now. Been overweight most of my life and have tried numerous diets without a ton of success. Had the most success with Atkins, but a move got me off base and back to the old habits.
A divorce 2 years ago and a an attempted suicide by one of my kids was a wake up call that I can't just go through life on auto pilot, so I am slowly taking back ground. First was some of the spiritual disciplines that had wavered. Back on track there for nearly a year. Money is on budget, Career is in transition, but some of that is out of my hands.
Lastly leaves the physical me. Being single and a job that has me on my feet a lot has helped me go from a high of 287 down to 212 over 2 years plus or minus. I am now starting with help from this site and folks on these teams, to get the nutrition less haphazard and more purposeful and something I can live with without a lot of effort (counting calories, points etc) just something more intuitive. Adding exercise on a regular basis is next.. We'll see where this takes me, but after 50+ years of just winging it, it is time to get it right.
Looking forward to learning from all of you
