Hi!

Love the Lord. Regularly attend Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) each week. This year we have been studying the book of Matthew. It has been a great study & has really caused me to examine how committed I am to Bible study and Christian ministry.

Originally joined SparkPeople in 3/ 2013, but dropped out 2-3 months later. I have now come back, because I really need to track my daily eating habits & begin an exercise program.

I am using a modified Mediterranean program. In addition, my health insurance provider has made the Silver Sneakers program available. That means, I can go to the YMCA for free and participate in any of their programs.

Check out my SparkPage ... Would like to make Christian Friends!

Have a Blessed week!
Jess

Hello and good evening everyone. I joined earlier this week but I was hit with the news the my little sister had died. My name is Courtney from Indiana. I'm struggling to begin a healthy lifestyle and been depressed so I've been sticking with my old and bad eating habits which my son is picking up on and I don't want him to follow in my footsteps. He's still young and I can change his eating habits but I will be angry if he does the same thing. Well good luck and god bless. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi my name is Jen. I was excited to find this team since I recently purchased the book and cookbook "What Would Jesus Eat?" I am enjoying eating a healthy mediterranean diet and look forward to giving and receiving support from others striving to do likewise. We want to follow Jesus' example to love and honor the heavenly Father. We want to be obedient as He was. We want to love others as He did. We want to use our time, talents and resources for Him. Why not follow Him in our eating also? I am looking forward to getting to know my team mates....brothers and sisters in Christ.

Hi, I'm Nora Brown and I live in northern IL. I joined SP quite a while back, but have let life get in the way of my focus. This year I was diagnosed with coronary heart disease and now really need to get the weight off so I can heal my heart condition.

I believe that God gave us what we need to be healthy, but sin has caused us to "spoil" our foods and let our bodies become very unhealthy. I want to try to regain what I can.

Nora

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." There fore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Hi All, I am new to this idea, sort of. I am on a tight budget and need ideas! I have milk intolerance and fibromyalgia. I want to try dietary modification and am avoiding artificial sweeteners and beginning to eliminate partially hydrogenated fats and high fructose corn syrup as all three are possibly linked to fibro according to some reading I've done. I already have seen an improvement since cutting out the artificial sweeteners (I was heavily addicted to diet cola, among other things) and hope for more improvement as I change my diet!!
Thanks for any future ideas!
God Bless,
Sharon

Hi Ladies,

I started eating a whole foods diet in July and it has really helped me lose weight and feel so much better. I saw this team and thought it looked great. I'm a Christian and a missionary in Eastern Europe and and there are lots of whole foods here. We have a very large garden. Some of the resources here look great.

Hi Holly, you're here to.

Hi, My name is Teresa and I'm so glad to find a whole food group and even better than that it's a Christian group. I just don't like to count calories. I think whole foods is the best way to to and eating only when you are hungry and stop when pleasantly full. I try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible when I'm dieting good. Which I have been sense march 31st this time but this time it is a lifestyle change not just another try. Praise God and God Bless, Teresa emoticon

Hi Everyone! I'm Becky and I feel like my eyes have been opened by the book "You on a diet" by Dr. Rosen and Dr. Oz. It is amazing how much better I feel since I have eliminated High Fructose Corn Syrup from my diet! And to think that our bodies don't even recognize it! It just turns into fat. Here's to the natural way God intended us to live!

"Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. ...Trust in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

Honestly, the best resource I've found for whole foods recipes is SueGregg.com She sells cookbooks, but on her website she has demonstrations of how to make several recipes, and they are realistic (relatively simple and items are readily available), usually inexpensive to make and every recipe I've tried (especially the waffles) are delicious. She even has a bread cookbook that includes how to make sprouted grain bread. I'm saving up to buy the entire teaching resource library for about $170 because it includes instructional videos, but just the cookbooks are very reasonable.

We have a few recipes on this list.

Other helpful websites are:
FreedomYou.com (for healthy sugar free juice recipes)

http://www.rwood.com/Recipes/ for things like almond butter and other healthy recipes

http://articles.urbanhomemaker.com has some neat recipes and ideas

SparkPeople in general doesn't really support a "whole foods" diet, and things like Stevia, at least when I started, were very much discouraged even though it is a very healthy zero calorie sugar substitute.

You are very welcome here, and I encourage you to post healthy recipes. There are very few discussion on this list, and has been being used mainly as a resource group.

Welcome!

Terri :o)

Hi, Nancy and Bev! There is a lot of information in the archives. This list doesn't seem to be very active, so don't get discouraged if you don't get immediate responses. I created the list mainly as a place to share information.

I hope you enjoy it here. Welcome to the group.

Hi, I'm Susan - a stay-at-home mom and writer. Last summer the Lord showed me that I wasn't treating my body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Since September, with God's daily help, I've lost 31 pounds (with 30 more to go) through healthier eating and a weekly cross-training program. It's a blessing to find a group of Christians on Spark People who are committed to a healthier and holier way to live. I feel so much better now that I'm leaning on the Lord for strength and not filling myself up with junk.

Welcome to the team, Beansproutbarb (love that screen name)! Don't worry about posting too much. Originally I created this team mostly for information. It's not a real busy list. Still, it's a great place to meet Christians who are into the whole foods thing. Glad you're here.

Hi, Mary! I started this list intending to totally switch to whole foods, but got side tracked back in August. After realizing I had gained back everything I had lost, I'm going to really work at returning to whole foods. I'm glad you're here. Terri :o)

Hello All from Magnolia Blossom - been around since July 23, 2007. I home schooled my children when we lived in Africa. Loved doing that. They learned so much better. I hope to do alot of natural gardening this coming spring. We had so much drought here in East Tennesse this past summer, we still haven't reach our quota yet. Hope all had a wonderful Christmas and will have a blessed New Year.

Hi, I'm Mary and I'm glad I found this team. We started slowly switching to whole foods last May through a food plan given to us by a nutritionist. It has started me on a new way of thinking about foods, and buying more natural/whole foods - and staying away from frozen/processed items. First, I removed soda from my diet about a year ago, then I moved from juices to whole fruits & veggies. We even bought a juicer which is wonderful for veggies.

That's about it - I'm looking forward to getting more ideas and suggestions here.

Hi! I'm Julie. I work full time supposed to be part time but when people quit I get moved up. My husband and I are trying to get healthy. We are also starting our own business so I can be a healthy stay at home mom. I am just starting to move completly to whole foods. It is hard as the area we live in raises prices on all their fresh veggies.

Hi, I'm Terri, your team leader. I'm a stay-at-home mother who home schools and who is trying to get healthy once and for all. Please introduce yourself, even if you already have. I was gone for about six months, so there are many of you I don't know. Glad you are all here!!!
