Commuting sucks, it's true! I sometimes walk home from work. It's about 6.5K.
I'm trying to exercise on my lunch break once or twice a week. I go for a walk *every day* on my lunch break, at least 20 mins. But I try to hit a cardio class once or twice too.
Consider this! It's nice to "get it over with" because sometimes by evening I'm too tired or have social plans. Getting up early to exercise before work it a great idea too, but not really practical, especially in winter when it's still dark early in the morning.
If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one!
Hi - I'm a re-Sparker also. 30 y.o., live in central Etobicoke and own a small business in South Etobicoke.
I don't think I'm looking for a "workout buddy" right away; at this point I might be more interested in networking with folks from Etobicoke. Perhaps we can help each other out with advice or tips about being active in Toronto's west-end (great parks for walks, restaurants with "healthy" choices, gyms/pools/health clubs to go to or avoid, local fitness events/runs, etc.).

I'm a return sparker too... I'm 32 and I live in North York/work downtown, so my commute isn't quite as far as you, but it's still a challenge most days - especially when I'm trying to find time to exercise before or after work!
I'll add you as a friend too! I'm looking for inspiration and virtual workout buddies to motivate me to stick with it!
Everything I do is in moderation. No extreme diets here; I go to the gym 3 times a week when my schedule allows it; and I just try to make the best choices I can, regardless of what life throws my way.

I've decided to re-join SparkPeople in an attempt to finally take control of my weight. As the subject says, I'm 30 years old, live in Etobicoke, work downtown, and the commute is killing me!
Just looking for new ideas, some support, the usual - I don't really have anyone in my life that I can discuss my efforts to get healthier / lose weight with without judgment, so I'm hoping that there will be others in the same boat here and there can be idea bouncing.
