Hi I'm Jill ~ new here ~ Last year at this time I could barely walk for 10 minutes, a year before that I was in a wheelchair, I still have to use a walker for long distances, but I have lost alot of weight and am feeling great. Now I have signed up for a walk in April so I am going to continue doing my water aerobics and work toward finishing a 5K. WHEW!!!!
I may of been delirious when I signed up for this walk, but I am going to do this as a goal to possibly achieve, I still have about 90 pounds more I would like to lose. I do 2 hours of water aerobics about 3-4 days a week, and today I did 5300 steps in the pool, which is about 700 shy of a 5k. I don't really know what I am doing but I want to try ~ help ? !
Just for today ..... it really is one day at a time

I have been on spark for a long time, I have lost 20 pounds simply by figuring out and treating my hypothyroidism. But the rest of this weight isnt going to loose itself. I have 120 pounds to loose. I am taking it 15 pounds at a time.

Hello! My name is Denise- I am 48, and I have 70 lbs to lose. i am giving myself a good year to do this. I have been off/on sparks people a few times but I joined up with sparks coach & I am staying accountable & doing well- 9lbs down in about 3 weeks. I have an autoimmune disease and it is hard to talk the heat in the summer so the walk away the pounds is perfect for me & with winter coming up I plan to continue. I just completed a 10 min. a day exercise challenge. Did that plus the walk away the lbs at least 3x a week. Just saw this team today!

Hi, my name is Samantha and I am 32 years old. I enjoy WATP workouts and I do a different walk six days a week and I add bootcamp dvds which are mostly strength training based on 3 of these days.
My starting weight was 104kg (229 pounds) and I am now down to 89kg (196 pounds). My goal is to be at 80kg (176 pounds) by the end of the year.
One of my new gols is to participate more in the community and I just created my Spark page yesterday. I am looking for accountability buddies who enjoy walking as their go to exercise.

Hello my name is Monica. I'm about 95lbs overweight :( . My entire family is overweight and has had bad health problems and I want to beat the bulge before it kills me.
I started trying to loose weight about 3 years ago and have kept 20lbs off but I found myself in a routine of working out past my ability and injuring myself (gaining some weight back) and once I felt better I would think I was 100% and continue the workouts only to injure myself agian :/
I did over half of a 6 week bootcamp program, was doing kickboxing, hiking and strength training classes while suffering sciatica pain and muscle spasms in my back that sometimes left my feet numb...
I'm taking it slow this time around, begining with walking, wish me luck!

Hi my name is Kourtney and I have always had a problem with my weight. I recently went to the doctor and found out that I have some heart issues. I had a hole in my heart when I was born and so I guess this is the aftermath. I need to lose 30 pounds and I want to do it by October. I love walking so I think this is a good choice for me.

Joined the team a few days ago. My daughter has me out walking a mile each evening after supper. This is day 3. It is far past time to get serious with this and get myself to a healthier weight. Walking is going well so far except for a nagging lower back ache that comes on about 1/2 into the mile. I don't know if it's my shoes or just old age! LOL Probably the latter unfortunately. Glad to have found this team, hoping to make some new spark friends to share encouragement. RA

Hello there! My name is Heather, and I am finally serious about getting healthy, and staying that way. I have back problems, so am pretty limited as to what exercises I can do, but started walking last month, and love it! I started slowly, and have gradually worked up to 4 miles a day 4-5 days a week. I love getting out there with my music, and just walking and clearing my mind! This week I am going to try and hit the 5 mile mark. Wish me luck!

My name is Annie, I'm 33 years old and I've been a member of Spark People a couple of years ago. I really enjoyed it but I was not mentally ready at the time to accept the changes and put the efforts in to losing the weight.
Since the middle of 2012 though I've lost about 34 pounds on my own and I recently decided to come back to Spark to get the little push, tools and support needed to get me trough this journey and to help me be more consistent with it too. I have a lot of weight to lose and I hope that with the help of God, efforts and walking again I'll be able to reach my goal.
I love the WATP DVD as they are easy to follow and effective for me and I think a good way also to start moving again.
I wish you all a wonderful and successful journey and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. Have a nice Friday and a lovely week-end.

Hi my name is Helen. It's been a while since I've been active on this team and SP in general. I'm happy to be back and really hope the interaction with other and this site will keep me motivated. I'd really like to lose 100 lbs this year; I turn the big 4-0 in February of 2014 . I am going to do my best to reach this goal and would really appreciate any encouragement, words of advice, prayer and friendship along this journey. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi my name is Anne. I have been a sparkspeople member for about a year or so but haven't really followed through with anything, but this week I went to the dr. and I felt so ashamed when I stepped on to the scale and I was over 200lbs.! I couldn't believe it, I am 5'2 so that is a lot of weight for me. I am desperate to lose weight and get healthy.

Hello everyone, I have been on sparkpeople for over 3 years but now I am serious. I got on the scale and was surprised to see that I had hit 200 lbs. I hadnt even noticed, well maybe I have. I have all of the Leslie Sansones video. I absolutely love the program but have failed to stick with it on a consistent basis. I am currently a doctoral student who spends most of my time researching (on my butt in front of the computer). I recently purchased a fuel band which assists me with tracking my activities. It has worked I have been doing more activities more than ever. I am eager to meet new friends that are also getting in shape. I hope all is well and I look forward to speaking with everyone on the discussion board.

Well I've been on this team for a while but never really got to introduce myself and say Hi. My name is Rosie and I've been doing the Walk At Home DVD's for about 2 years now. I had always quit for one reason or another but this time I'm sticking to it for good because I love to walk and the boost after every workout is awesome. I'm glad to be here and even more glad to be writing this lol. I completely lost my voice this week and it's been about 5 days now and I'm still waiting to be able to talk again. I was sent home from work yesterday and had a day off today so I really really need my voice by tomorrow. Well, I gotta get walking lol. I will be doing a 15 minute mile today, although I've stayed at the 2-3 miles per day I'm really taking it easy today. Oh and feel free to visit my SparkPage :)
Hi. Just joined the team. I've been on and off Sparks for a couple of years, but getting serious now. I am 56, retired (and loving it), happily married. This Spring I peaked out at 247 lbs. This September I managed to lower that to 232 lbs. About the same time I applied for a local small town newspaper health challenge. There are 4 of us competing. Half way through now and I have dropped to 215 lbs. 4 weeks to go. I won't get to my goal in 4 weeks, but I expect to make a serious dent in the numbers (making sure of course that I am healthy in how I do it). I make walking my main exercise, walking about 7 - 10 km a day, making sure I include some serous hills into my route. So far it's working. See you around.

Hi I've been with Spark for about 3 months now and have lost 10 kilos, another 13 kilos to go! I am 64, love walking in the countryside in my part of the world, North Norfolk in the UK. I started walking only about 2 months ago, very slowly indeed due to general unfitness, but am now walking between 3 - 6 miles 3 times a week, at an average pace of 2.9 mph. Still quite slow, I know, but I'm getting there and enjoying every minute of it! Look forward to reading inspiring posts on this forum!

Hi, I am doing Leslie's Walk Your Belly Flat and I really like it. I have done the one and two mile walks. I am ready to get another WATP video but not sure which one. I have lost about 20 lbs. and need to lose about 10 more. I have been a member of Sparkpeople for awhile but have'nt been taking advantage of all the wonderful tools that is offered and I know I need to do this. I just have'nt taken the time to learn how to use them.

My Name is Jana and the mother of two beautiful boys and wife to a fantastic man. Over the past two years things have been very difficult fiancially and healthfully. first in oct 2009 I had my second child, and then about a year later my husband lost his job so i had to put in alot of hours at work to make ends meet. I have always been somewhat heavy, but i've always considered myself healthy. NOT anymore. it's time for me to pull myself together and focus more on my health. and that is my goal. i love Leslies walk at home DVD's mainly because I feel like I work harder at them at getting the moves correct which i think helps with a more efficiant Calorie burn.
It will be so nice to meet other like minded people who want to get healthy and be good examples to our kids! :]

Hi, I bought a set of Walk Away the Pounds at a yard sale this summer. I finally started the 5th of September. I am still on the 1 mile walk but for the first time I don't feel as if it will kill me. At this rate it will be 2020 before I get to the 4 mile walk.

Many of you will realize that I am not new to Leslie's Walk At Home program, but have been MIA, so to speak, due to the stresses of my job and constant lawn mowing all summer. Now it is time for me to get back into the swing of things! I have lost a lot of weight in past years with the WAH DVDs and plan to do so again, this time for good!

I just joined this team today! I've been on SP since July and have only managed to lose about 4 pounds. UGH...before joiniing though, I lost about 30. I'm trying to shake things up a bit with my exercise. I am a walker. I walk anywhere from 2-4 miles a day usually 5-6 days a week. I took yesterday off. I want to join this group to learn about different DVDs I can use, different terrains, inclines, etc..basically ways I can change up my boring walking routine. I am interested too in increasing my speed. I'm so happy to be meeting fellow walkers. I do have a walking buddy and to be honest, she keeps me going when I wanna just say NO. But, don't get me wrong, that only happens once in a great while now. I'm tweeking my nutrtion end and now it's time to shake up the exercise! Let's get this going!
On a personal level, I am a married 37 y.o. female from Mass. I'm a stay at home to an 11 y.o. stepson with adhd and mild mental retardation. So, home is always busy. I cherish my walk time. It is my ME time. I do suffer from osteoarthritis, deg. disc disease, bone spurs on my spine, neck and back spasms, and ulna neuropathy so walking is important because it does help with the pain I am in on a daily basis. My MD highly recommends it. So, I'm hoping with this and the tweek in nutrition the pounds will start to melt away!
Look forward to getting to know u all..Courtney

I have been finding that the Leslie DVD's are working well. I started with 4 miles and try to put extra effort into it ....doing it more energetically, with extra hand movements, or a little jogging. I have been minimally sore from this, so know that it is working my muscles. (I am in pretty good shape from line dancing and yard work. 4 miles was the right length to start with for me, I know not for everybody though).
I have a question for you guys that are experienced with Leslie DVD's.... Do you think it is too much to do the work-out that I described above on a daily basis? I think Leslie would say that we should walk every day. For me, I think my body would appreciate alternating with something else. Or maybe alternating it with either a shorter work-out or a less intense work-out?? Note: I am 62 and seem to require longer periods of time for muscles to recover, even though when I am exercising I feel strong and have pretty good stamina.
I would appreciate your suggestions on this.

Hey there.... I'm Ruth from Michigan and I'm ready to walk away the pounds. I have a treadmill that I've been using for the past 3 months but I need to add a variety of exercises to do so I don't get burned out. I just purchased a stationary bike and now I'm going to do Walk Away the Pounds. Those should help in keeping me motivated.

Welcome to the team, we are glad to have you with us! Good luck Melissa! It is hard to juggle exercise in when you are busy but as Leslie says if you only have time to get a mile, one is better than nothing!
I am new to this group, but not new to WATP! My name is Melissa, I'm 35, married with a 5 yr old son. I've been off track lately as far as exercise goes. I've recently started back to school to pursue my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I also work full time. Things in my life are hectic, but I'm going to push through and try to accomplish ALL my goals, a little bit at a time!

I just joined this team and can't wait to make some new friends on here. I've always loved the WATP workouts and use it often in my workout rotations.

Hey I'm new to this team. I prefer WATP to all other workouts cause I get a better burn of calories in a 12 minute mile ... I wore the hubby's Heart Rate monitor and chest band a few days ago and the 10 minute-mile burned only 146 calories but the 12 minute mile burned 164 calories.
164 Calorie Burn in 12 minutes is Freaking Awesome.
I usually can stomp out 4 miles without being too too tired. that is 600*ish calorie burn in less than an hour. Yay for me

Hello everyone! I am not new to Sparks but decided to learn how to walk properly in hopes I can begin a new workout plan. I have pain and issues with walking that I hope to overcome. I lead off on the wrong side of my foot so no wonder I have issues. I am going to start slow and get with the program. Glad I found this team, I am looking for motivation!

Hi walkers, My name is Kerry. I love to do my Walk Away the Pounds dvds in the mornings before getting ready to go to work. I have just come back to Sparkpeople at the end of May. I am learning to make this time around a better time for me and a lifestyle change in my eating and fitness habits. I have lost 14.6 pounds so far. So I look forward to walking with you all. Have a great day!
Hi I'm back...I'm ready for August WATP videos. Leslie's videos are my favorite for a workout. Looking for a thread to record which one I and others are working out with as it motivates me. So I will see you on the thread.

Welcome Nina! It won't take long and you will be back in the swing of things!
I'm certainly not new to Leslie Sansone videos! I had gastric bypass surgery 10 years ago and this was my workout of choice. I started from the 1 mile and continued through the 4 mile plus adding 30 minutes of Pilates after it 5-6 times each week. I lost a total of 170 pounds.
Introduce new baby and totally new life and we have weight gain (not too bad) and no more exercise. No excuses, it is what it is and now I'm focused again on being a healthy mommy. My five year old could run circles around Leslie any day!
I'm starting over again at the 1 mile and will be checking in here to gain insight, be held accountable, and enjoy the companionship. Did the first one today and I can't believe I'm actually pooped! Goodness how things change!
Good luck everyone! Nina

Leslie is always a great inspiration for me! I'm getting back on the wagon after a very long hiatus and can't wait to feel good about myself again. I really need some way to keep myself accountable and to stay excited about the process, though. I'm hoping that I can find some help with that by posting here...
