Hi Diane,
Thank you for the emoticon I see we have at least 2 thing's in common. We both have diabetes and we're the same age.
I see that you're off to a good start in getting things under control. I have suffered dearly for not taking this seriously and believe me I have paid for it. I have been in the hospital twice since this past April and almost died the last time which was in September. It effected my eating habits which was a good thing. I lost 113 lbs. before I discovered this plan.
I am so happy to be here! With all my Sparker family I know I'll get all the support I need and from my family and friends also!!!

emoticon Hello,
I am just now returning to SP after a bit of a hiatus. I recently decided I HAD to do something to get my blood sugars under control. I consulted a dietician and she is helping me to see what I must do in order for this to happen. Today was my first day starting on her "plan" for me which basically is limiting my carb consumption. It is already working! This evening two hours afer my meal, my blood sugar was 150!!! Hallelujah! I plan to stick close to SP for encouragement because I know this is not going to be easy to stick with. And I also want to be a source of encouragement to others.
Welcome De. Glad you are here, too.

Hi De and welcome to the group. The sooner you learn to manage this disease the better for you. My doctor told me you have between 10 and 15 years to get it under control or it will control you for the rest of your life. According to her, you are coming down to the wire. If you have any questions just post them. There are many here who will be happy to answer them for you.

Hi all my name is De. I've had type 2 diabetes for 11 years. Finally a place where I can get encouragement and support and I can do the same for you all. I've had many health problems lately because of this disease. I'm at a place now where I want to control it and not let it conrol me.
I'm on a race to a better healthier lifestyle. There will be hurdles ahead but with this program it will make it easier to jump over them. I look forward to reaching my goal!!!
