Welcome Kim. Diabetes 2 has its share of challenges. I would make an appointment with your medical carrier and follow their advice to the best of your ability. You can only manage D2 only so much, but the more components you can control will benefit you immensely. This group is fantastic. We can help fill in the some of the holes you might have. I have enjoyed sharing this condition's symptoms with this group. They are very supportive. Its great to have friends out there.
Hi Kim, welcome. Getting the diagnosis & knowing what the next steps are can be overwhelming. But make sure you are checking in with your dr reguarly & also start seeing a diabetes nutrionist for guidance on how to eat properly. Let us know if we can help.
You are not alone in those feelings when first diagnosed. But the best defense against this is a good offense. Educate yourself, have a plan, work your plan. Remember to include nutrition, exercise and, if you are prescribed, medication, in your plan to control your blood sugar.
It is scary, but honestly, now that you know what is going on, this will be the path to a healthier lifestyle and feeling better.

Hi, Kim, and welcome. There are so many positive steps you can take to effectively manage Type 2 diabetes and avoid complications. This site and team have tons of information. I also recommend dLife on the internet. They have a weekly "show" you can view online, and their newsletters are chock full of info and support. The American Diabetes Association site is also great. If your health insurance plan allows it, see if you can get some sessions with a dietician to help you understand food, like you have never looked at it before. People have different perspectives on this, but I recommend working with an endocrinologist rather than a regular primary care physician for your diabetes. The endocrinologist is a specialist and should be very well versed in all things diabetes. Mine is an absolutely wonderful doctor and person - she has made all the difference in managing this disease. Good luck on your journey. We're all here for you!
