Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL
Life comes in specific increments, which we receive as a gift of one moment at a time. That's why it's called t

The emotional eating is hard but if you can learn to eat the right things that can be helped.
Eating too much sugar and the white carbohydrates just feeds that A1C and we all know that has to stop to prevent the consequences down the road.
Have you had a recent consultation with a diabetes educator. They are often more helpful than your PC so if it has been a long time ask about a refresher course it may help you a lot. Pat in Maine. We are here for you stay in touch with spark friends and you will get more support. This is a great site and a supportive knowledgeable team we live with our condition learning to control it is very important to us.

Hi and welcome! I have found people to be very knowledgeable and helpful on this team. Post often to ask any questions you may have or just to let us know how you're doing. There's a lot of support, encouragement, and great advice to be had here.
You may have already discovered it, but if you go to the orange toolbar near the top of the page and look under the "Articles and Videos" tab, you'll find a Diabetes Program. The Condition Centers has a Diabetes section, as well. You should be able to find great resources at those places.
We're glad to have you on the team!

I just joined Sparks today. I hoping this will give me better control of my blood sugars and also help me lose this 40 pounds that somehow found it's way on to me!
I've been a diabetic since 2001. I was first put on metformin at the start of my diagnosis. Now I'm still on metformin, amaryl, and 36 units of lantus at night.
I struggle with emotional eating and also my horrible sweet tooth. Sweets are a huge problem for me.
My goal is to lose this weight, and also lower the amount of insulin i am using at this time.
My last A1C's were 7.9...working to get below 7.0
I'm glad I found this site! Looking forward to meeting all of you!
