Welcome to the group, Linda. Your not admitting you had Type 2 struck a cord with me because I didn't tell family and friends for a l-o-n-g time. I think I was embarrassed. Really silly on my part. You have done tremendously well on your journey so far. The plateaus are all just part of the journey. Stay strong and lean on us when you need to.

So sorry to hear about your surgery! Yes, it really is a major shock to the body and sometimes it takes the body about a year to re-adjust. HUGS and hope you're at least feeling a little better.

Way to go Linda!

May I ask what you're doing to lose weight?

I lost 60 pounds last year, and then had major cervical spine surgery in April. Weight loss has been next to impossible since then! I'm noticing my fingernails are also very flaky and peeling ever since about six-months post surgery, so I'm thinking it was a MAJOR shock to my body.

Either way, I'm keepin' on with working at it!

Hi, my name is Linda and I am a Type 2 Diabetic. Just 6 months ago that would have been hard for me to admit. I've been in denial for a while, but finally started taking care of my disease in mid November. My blood glucose has dropped from 342 to 160 in a little over 2 months. I have a long way to go before I am healthy, but know I will do it. I turn 50 in June and am determined to lose 50 pounds by then. 50 by 50. Sounds like a plan to me! I am 76 pounds down from my highest weight. Since November I have lost 23. I seem to be on a plateau right now, but am sticking it out, knowing my body will catch up. I'm happy to join this group, and look forward to fighting our disease together.
