Welcome. For 20 years I have had this terrible disease. I have kept my blood sugars in close check with the help of meds including orals and Lantus. Instead of thinking weight loss, although, I joined Weight Watchers 15 years ago, my main focus was Blood sugar levels. With the meds, I was able to keep those levels down and then...... Had to give up the orals, which added more weight. Wish now I had also concentrated seriously on the weight because I would be better prepared for the battle to stay off the daytime (short-term) insulin and maintain on One shot slow acting Lantus. So far I am being able to drop my insulin down 1 - 2 units a week. It is all about carb control. You can do it and good luck.

Better late then never. It is up to us to change. We are in charge what we put into our mouths. This diease is hard. But the consequences are worse. When I was diagnosed and got out of ICU two years ago I could not see for a month. scared me to death. My mom is in rehab and the Lady in the next room lost her Leg and is on kidney dialysis. Yep due to diabetes sugars too high, not exercising and not eating right. We all fall off the wagon from time to time. This is a great group and will support you. But it is also up to you to change. Use the trackers, exercise , drink at least 8 glasses of water. Eat healthy. emoticon emoticon emoticon Love and Light Carol

I've had diabetes for about 7 years. I made some small changes over the years. But I have/had room to grow in this area.

I am doing the diabetic 8 week weight loss challenge!! It's awesome and has my build confidence in myself, and built self esteem to know I can continue to do this. Pretty painlessly.

The challenge takes you through all facets of being a diabetic and making small choices, and how to maintain habits.

I have been insulin free for 2 week!!!

Hi, I'm new to the group, but not to Diabetes. I've had diabetes for about 15 years, and finally realizing it's not just going to disappear. I've been a part of Spark for over 2 years, but not a frequent user. I'm anxious to read and learn from members of this group about what's working for others. I want to get off meds or at least reduce them, but mostly, I want to keep my health and enjoy life! Thanks for all your posts! Truly inspiring!
