most of the drug companies will provide your meds for free as was said find the am diabetes place in your town and they will tell you how to get that and a whole lot of other things for free..it's papaerwork but you can do it
also thhose clinic have programs covered by the federal government..and they have paperwork to fill out and they will write off the visits..also if you cannot visit the clinic you can apply for medicaid from you state take your unpaid bills and the sources of your income and they will pay those for you

Evening Beth, have a few questions that I did not find in your introduction to the team members.

1. What medication are you on now or were you on?
2. How much exercising are you doing?
3. Are you using the Fitness an Nutrition Trackers?

I found that losing the weight helped tremendously to drop my numbers and medication.
Since finances are a hinder of you getting help, have you checked out the assistance resources in your region of the State. Also many churches have assistance available. You can also contact the American Diabetic Association and ask for a list of resources which includes drug company. It never hurts to try, with your situation there maybe more help out there than you know.

Keep in touch.......Michele

Good Afternoon Beth,

I am not in your area either but I am here to support you. I have been diabetic T2 since Nov 2010, I go a fire lite under my butt because I thought not me. I immediately asked the Dr where do we go from here. Well to make a long story short, a low carb diet and moderately high protein, a exercise plan, and a great cook in my husband, I'm down 60 pounds and counting. You can do this and we are here to support you.

Hello and good morning to you. I can only guess what your situation can be and how to handle it. I do know that ..."if it came to pass, it, too shall pass."

Hang in there and PLEASE keep in touch with us and others. You can gain strength through their strength. These are not just hollow words for me, they are words that I live by.

I have been a T2 diabetic since 1996 and have seen many ups and downs. The folks on SP have been an inspiration to me and I have finally found the inner strength to live by as I should have many years ago. I am 77 years old and I should have known better a long time ago but did not.

I commend you for reaching out.

Thanks for your mail. Frank

Hello out there... My name is Beth I am from the Birmingham area Alabama. I would LOVE to find locals to chat with and maybe meet up with once a month or something.
I have been a diabetic since 2004.... it has never been under control. I don't have insurance and our health department charges per visit... they will not see me anymore until my bill is paid in full. My family is in a dire financial situation... we can't pay bills much less have extras for doctor visits so that I can get my meds. Spark People is going to help me save my life... and it is already happening.

All that being said I LOVE my spark friends. I have also lost 8 pounds. I have had ups and serious downs as well as good and bad weeks of eating. I am guessing this is pretty normal on a long journey like this. I have never done anything that totally changed my life and eating like this, nor have had ever been on a place like this that helped so much.

I am married and have 2 sons... one in college and one is going to be a senior in high school this fall. We currently have 4 dogs and a cat.... we are trying to find new homes for 2 of our dogs due to my husbands medical condition.

I personally would like to lose at least another 52 pounds..... I am not sure that will happen because of my age and my body changes through the years after having 2 children..... my husband and son say they think I will be "to skinny" at that weight. Honestly the last time I was that weight I think I was 13... I am now 43. *LOL* They might be right, but I think I will let God decide over the next year.

So here I am... ready, willing and able...to give and get all support and encouragement

Beth
