Hi everyone! I'm returning to SparkPeople after a hiatus because I am reading the "Beck Diet Solution" which uses cognitive behaviour therapy to end the weight gain/diet cycle. Part of the program requires that one has a coach or weight-loss buddy.

I'm hoping to find someone willing to check in weekly by email and willing to respond to the occasional (I hope) emergency message.

I'm female, 43, in Toronto, have 30ish pounds to lose. I'm a knitter, a wine geek, a mother and wife, an entrepreneur. I'm really openminded and think I can be a friend & support to just about anyone. If you're really into religion, that's awesome, but if you need me to be, it won't work out.

Hi there! I am 24 years old and have just been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Due to this, I am having to eat a low carb diet and have just started but am really feeling the pressure to eat carbs because I am so hungry on this diet. Hi Lively Lulu,
Thanks for checking in! I have been doing great this week with exercise and food goals but yesterday got knocked down with the FLU and am still out today. Fever and Dizzy and stuffy head and soar throat emoticon YUCK!

BUT being home today has given me some more time to poke around my spark page and teams so that has been good!

I saw on your posts that you got hit by the big storm! I live in Toronto and so we are used to big snow storms but it HAS been unusually cold this January. My kids hate that as if it is below -10 they are not allowed out at recess and lunch at school! I went for a walk on Tuesday between clients and my iphone FROZE and stopped working. I have to stuff it in my armpit to unthaw it - That was a VERY brrrrrrrr moment - LOL

On the whole though I like winter as I like going sledding with my kids and I grew up snowboarding and skiing and plan to get back to it next winter when I am in better shape. I also like cross-country skiing which I can even do now and have been enjoying =) We have a few acres that back on to conservation forest and so there are lots of good trials there.

Hello Everyone,
I'm Amanda and I am a 35 y/o wife & mother of 2 young boys, a university prof & a clinical director at a child mental health center, & have about 120lbs to lose.

I have tried many diets over the past few years and they all start off well for the first few weeks and then I slip up, get depressed and give up.

I have joined a crossfit centre and have started going 3 times a weak. Feel the BURN! LOL

I would love to find some online companions so that we can cheer each other on along the way.

I have been doing Sparkpeople for about a month and really enjoying it. You can check out my spark page for some blogs and info. I have joined a couple of teams and enjoy checking in every day. I think it would be nice though to have 1 or 2 specific buddies.

Hello all, I'm old and new lol. This is the third time I've tried this, I have a bad habit of self sabotage. I'm almost 36, have been overweight most of my life, 50 pounds added in the last two years. I have fibromyalgia and my doctor has told me no high impact workouts, he doesn't want me to jar my nerves and body too much. I'm ok with that. I like walking, riding my exercise bike, and going to water aerobics when it's nicer. I'm looking for encouragement and accountability.

Hey Linda! I can tell you right now, there are not a lot of people that post here, but I do check back at least 5X weekly for new posts. I know I have joined two teams 1)move it and lose it 2)Ready Set Spark... those teams are pretty active, so I would check them out. Hi. I'm Linda. I've been on Spark P since July 2012. I've lost 55 lbs but become slack lately. I worked hard to get below 200 and don't intend to go back there again!!! I need motivation!!! Accountability!!! Ambition? I'm 63. I am a teacher of handicapped middle school students. I'm married to a great guy and have two grown sons. In the last year I've had two knee replacements. Slowed me down some but also I now have less pain and am in quite better shape. I am looking for some new groups that are active and focused on what we are here for.

Hello, I am a 49 year old British woman trying to get myself in shape before my big five o in the summer. I have two dogs, one husband (!) two grown up children and one grandchild. I work in a desk job so a challenge for me is going to get some exercise in. I have chosen to try to walk 10,000 steps per day. So far I've not managed it! I have 30lb minimum to lose and want to drop 2 dress sizes. I am also trying to stop smoking (down to 2 a day) and have set myself the challenge of an alcohol free January. My weight gain has only come on in the last five years, before that I looked young for my age and was quite a yummy mummy, but now I am so fed up of looking ten years older and feeling frumpy and finished, dreading my birthday, and feel like it is about time I took control. I only started here on 1st Jan, but am determined to make this my year! If anyone in a similar situation would like to team up for friendship and mutual support do please get in touch! x

Hello Everyone!

I'm a 46 year old married mother of two grown children. I've been overweight most of my life, losing and gaining the same 40 or so pounds over and over. I feel like cr*p most of the time and would like to take the weight off once and for all. I know I need to change the way I think, so I can change the way I act. My big issue is I hate to exercise....almost as much as I love carbs! I know need to find something I enjoy...but what?

I joined Spark People in 2010, but wasn't committed and quit before I really got started. I never learned how to make use of the vast resources the site offers. I'm quite overwhelmed by it all. I'm hoping I can find a buddy who can help me:
1. learn to navigate the best Spark has to offer,
2. get and stay motivated.
3. share successes and stumbles

Hiya, I've been overweight most of my life. In 2006, I took charge of my life and went from 220 pounds to 130 pounds (at my lowest). I'm up about 20 pounds and am hoping to shave 30 pounds off. I work out 5x a week and am looking for someone to hold me accountable. I've learned it doesn't matter if you have 10 pounds or 100 pounds to lose - it's a challenge no matter what the number.

hello everyone. my name is Nicole and I an 29 yrs old. I currently live in eastern NC but lived in NYC and Chicago as well. I have been trying to lose weight as long as I can remember. growing up my stepsisters were thin and although I didn't know it then I was at a healthy weight and were I should have been and even be there now. My friends in school also were thin and had eating issues. I think that was the turning point in my life. I was 16 or so at 130 and wanting to get down and lose 20 or so pounds. I was very active playing sports and always moving doing one thing or anther. when I was 18 I moved out of state and that when I gained all my weight. Then in my mid 20's I got married and went up to 205lb. that was my heaviest I have ever been. I did lose weight doing WW but it got costly and the support sour and I gained most of it back. Now I am divorced and about to reach my 30's and I need help. I need a buddy that will be there. I need someone to remind me this is a sprint not a marathon and when I get to the finish line it will be the most amazing thing ever.

Hi I'm Rosie and I am looking for a buddy who also wants to work through emotional/anxiety eating issues - especially with "stuffing" emotions with food. I do this, for instance, in social situations where I think I eat uncontrollably to avoid the stress of having to connect with others. It's a way of hiding from what I fear might be other's judgemental gaze, I think. Really my own punishing gaze I'm hiding from, don't you think? Overall, I think that this "stuffing" is my core issue and it prevents me from meeting a range of life goals - weightloss, professional/executive function fulfillment, sticking to a plan, etc. Would like to have an email network of folks who share issues and strategies.

Hi I am Rozie - not new to spark but been away for awhile helping family, but now am taking time to get back to my fitness levels & losing weight with the help of my SP teams and friends.
I am orginally from WI but moved to Australia 30 yrs ago and married my soulmate, have 2 daughters & 3 grandchildren.
I had a very busy working career for a software house & travelled extensively, but now retired and have been busier than ever with family and friends. Did some volunteer work for 3 yrs, but now totally dedicated to home life.
Am on a health program for 8 wks, but soon to be over and looking to find a team & buddy.
We all need support to help us when we are not so motivated or feeling low. I would love to share with you and support you as much as I can.

I love to walk and jog. I ran the color run 5K last September but I slacked off afterwards. I have signed up for another 5K in May and I was hoping that would give me incentive to start back running. I have a treadmill and I do get on it occasionally but not consistently. The weather here in AL has been miserable as far as the rain. I actually have been better about counting calories and tracking my food this week and I am down a couple pounds. I just came off of working 4 twelve hour nights so hopefully I will get to fit in some exercise this week. I also bought a couple of Jillian michaels DVDs that I want to try out.

Hey everyone! My name is Erinn and I live in Alabama. I need to lose around 20-25 pounds that I have gained since I quit smoking. I know what I need to do to lose weight, but I lack the motivation. I love to eat but bad eating habits are making me miserable and my cholesterol is elevated. ugh!

Hey everyone! My name is Camille, I am going to be turning 23 this April. I'm here to lose the weight that has been causing me so much emotional and physical turmoil for my whole life. It's been hitting me slowly how much I am not happy with my weight. I am the heaviest I have ever been and it shows. I hate clothes shopping for the simple fact that I nearly have an emotional breakdown every time I try on clothes. If anyone is willing to help me reach my short term (lose 50 pounds by August 2013) or long term (lose 121 pounds overall) goals, that would be great :) Just send me a Spark message and we can go from there.

Hi all, my name is Andrea. I am a 24 year old married woman. I don't have any children unless you count fur babies, in which case I have two. A great dane lab mix, and a golden retriever. I'm about 268 and want to get down to 150. I have a hard time losing weight because my husband has no interest in losing weight, or eating healthier. So he tends to still buy all the junk food I love. Or we'll keep on a healthy eating schedule for a week and before you know it we're back to eating junk again. It's a vicious cycle and one I'm tired of being a part of. I don't want to force him to do something he doesn't want to, but I'm tired of hurting every day when I wake up, and tired of looking in the mirror and thinking "you could certainly feel better if you lost weight." Any suggestions or motivation from anyone would be fantastic. :) And if anyone is looking for a friend, hit me up.

My name is Ela. I'm starting out at 313 (lost 7 pounds this week!) and am 5'8, with an overall goal of 175. Hello fellow Sparkers!

My name is Stephanie. I am 31 with three kidlets to chase after daily ages 3, 6, and 8. I am thankfully not at the heaviest I've been in my entire life, but close to it. I am starting out at 227 and aiming for somewhere between 120 and 140.

I am hoping to find someone in the general Portland Oregon area (hopefully closer to Beaverton) that would like to meet up a couple times a week for a trail walk.

Hi! I'm 49 and live in the UK.

I was just over 18 stone (253) at one point, am currently around 15 st 8 (218), and would like to be a healthy weight, so anything under 10st 13 (153).

I am going to start following the WeightWatchers Filling & Healthy/Simply Filling plan on 1st January.

For exercise I enjoy walking, and plan to do atleast 20 minutes twice a day.

Let me know if I sound like the buddy you're looking for! :-)

Hello everyone,
I am fairly new and I have quite a bit of weight to lose. I have been struggling with being consistent. Its like I will hear something that motivates me, and then days or sometimes even hours later I find myself sabotaging my weight loss efforts all over again. At times it just seems easier to eat and do nothing. Eating is like a way of escape, its a way to avoid whatever I don't want to face. Its so natural to me. I try my best to stay positive and think happy thoughts but I just find myself stuffing my face, hating myself, and then trying to fix it. It becomes a viscous viscous cycle. I decided to join a few more Spark teams just so I can surround myself with individuals that understand me, and that can relate to what I feel. I have reached out but I will admit that I have not taken full advantage of all the tools on this website. I just want to began to learn how to love myself because I honestly don't know how.
