Hi, I'm Heather. I just joined, but I've been a member of sparkpeople for a few years. I saw this team on a friend's page and thought it looked interesting. I could use a weekly challenge! I'm a 29 yr old mother of 2 girls from Hampton, VA. I raise them on my own, but I have a great boyfriend. I just completed my first 8k on March 17th (the Shamrock 8k in Virginia Beach, VA) and I'm still pretty excited about it! 6 months ago I had a hard time getting out of bed, I sometimes slept half the day because I was so fatigued and just blah feeling, not on the right meds (I have Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, and just a few months ago found out I had a thyroid problem). So to go from that to jogging/walking in an 8k and not only finishing but beating my time (1hr 45min, finished 1hr 22min), I just feel amazing and I feel like my life has finally changed and I can do anything!
Sorry, enough bragging. I'm annoying myself now! lol
I'm not working due to my health issues (I also have chronic severe migraines, plantar fasciitis, and carpal tunnel...and back issues sometimes)...sucks right? I'm hoping as I lose the weight, the problems will die down more and I can become a normal functioning human being and go back to work and contribute to society and support myself. But until then, I'm lucky enough to have a father who allows me to live in his house and a boyfriend who helps me out even though I ask him not to. Yes, when I'm up late at night I tend to give people my life story. Sorry again! I look forward to chatting with you all.
