Hi, I am Red Hoffman and I believe I developed a weight problem the minute I left the active military in 1989. I gained probably 100 lbs over the next year/year and a half. Depression played a factor. Being diagnosed with a heart condition played a factor. My love of eating good food played the biggest factor of all. BUT, the bottom line is, I am in control of what happens. I was recently taken to the hospital by ambulance for dizziness, inability to stand and powerful headaches. My blood sugars were between 350 and 450...and it caused me to spend 5 long says in the hospital. Five days to think...and to get motivated. Upon my discharge, I quit smoking...cold turkey, and began to devise a plan to lose weight and get my glucose under control. Joining this site will be a big aspect of that. Keeping track of not only what I have eaten, but also, getting ideas on what I SHOULD be eating (suggestions) will keep me focused. Send me a message if anyone would like to know more....or if they can keep my motivation going. Thanks and good luck everyone.
