I have the same problem with staying up late and watching t.v. That is/was my relaxing time! So going to bed at 10pm is difficult for me (I'd have to get up at 6am for work). Last night I did ok though. I think I got 7 hours... more than usual! Yay me!

Wow, 8 hours of sleep has not happened to me in years but it sure sounds good. It is 1 A.M. and I went to bed at 10, my usual time, and here I am wide awake....no pills so having some string cheese and cranberry juice. I should be sleepy soon but if not, I will keep busy on here or read. I chose 10 as I am usually sleep then even though most of my favorite tv shows are on from 10 - 11. I just found I was asleep when those shows ended and awake again.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome! I have definitely been checking everything out, including the nutrition and exercise trackers. I agree that splitting meals is a good idea! As far as sleeping goes, well that is my first mini goal, or one of them... to get 8 hours of sleep a night! I am a big night owl so going to sleep at 10pm is very difficult to me. I was never a very good or disciplined sleeper to begin with! But that is my goal for now. Good luck to you both with this as well!

emoticon K!

Welcome and you have come to the right place for cheerleaders and a dozen forums to check out. The tools on here are awesome and useful and there are workout videos, etc. too. Get a journal and keep track of your world.

My husband and I split meals when we eat out and that way can have a whole dessert..... :)) ho ho
I try to eat on a small plate at home and that also cuts my calories in half. I have lost forty pounds since May surgery and am counting blessings.

Sleeping is a big problem for me the past 8 years since my husband had a massive stroke and we lost him a couple times. I had back surgery this May and was on a ton of drugs and am now off them. I kept the arthritis anti-inflamitory Rx and my thyroid Rx plus those for BP and cholesterol. So, I try to go to bed at the same time every night and if I am still awake in an hour, I read or watch tv. I keep trying to go back to sleep and usually get in about 90 minutes at a time. I wish you well in learning to sleep soundly.....that is what I want to do soon.

After seeing this website in a magazine, and after having three seperate unrelated people recommend it to me, I figured I'd check it out. So far I'm loving the quizzes and how the nutrition is tracked (though I wish the search tool was easier/more accurate to use) and how vast the resources are. I've been on and off this site (in between calls at work) for hours and still feel I've barely tipped the iceberg!

So anyway, you can call me K. I'm 25 and married 2 years to the first "official" boyfriend I've ever had. Since falling in love, we've both gotten a little comfortable with each other. That and stress has put on more than a few pounds on us both! For me, who was overweight to begin with, this has been a huge struggle. My mom and grandmother are overweight, so I have a family history, and never learned to eat really healthy from an early age. I'm currently trying to learn and apply new knowledge so that I can ultimately reach a healthy weight. I am going to have children in a few years and don't want to start off overweight when I get pregnant. Also, I want to be healthy so that I can pass this healthy lifestyle onto them.

Thus, my reason for being here. I have already to some extent been exercising and making healthier eating choices on my own. I j ust need help with support and community. Family and friends, as good intentioned as they are, don't suffice as cheerleaders... after one post on a support blog they forget to check and I'm writing to no one. I have found that I do NEED cheerleaders... at least until I see that my efforts are making a difference in my body and health, which so far has been lacking.

Anyway... this is my introduction I suppose! Have a good day!
