My husband was just diagnosed last month with type 2 diabetes. He isn't insulin dependent but is on medication and total COMPLETE change of eating regimen. We have eliminated sugar, most carbohydrates (pasta, potatoes, bread, etc.), and regular soft drinks. He has lost 24 pounds and is still losing. I haven't been as strict as him, but I have cut down and have lost 5 pounds in less than a month. I am becoming more strict and will get to the right point like he is. I don't know where you are located, but I have a really good neurosurgeon in Bryan, Texas. His name is Dr. Frederickson. Also, my sister had back surgery in Houston, Texas, and she is doing very well. I hope you get the help that you need soon.
Hi, I'm seriously needing some help. Are there any doctors out there? I saw the spine surgeon yesterday. He said I need major surgery...again. The first surgery was from a freak accident. This time they need to release nerve damage that came on gradually.
What I need help with is loosing at least 15-20 lbs to take more stress off my back before he will do surgery. I weighed 191 yesterday and 189 this morning. I've kept up with some of the stretching exercises but find more intense workouts virtually impossibe right now due to pain and numbness in my lower back and leg. I've been here before and fell by the wayside. We (my husband and I) work for an organic seed company so that already has given me hope for a healthier 'self.' I'm retired except for the hardest job ever, being a Mom, Grandma, wife and domestic engineer.
My other health issues are high blood pressure and last week I was told I am diabetic, late onset.
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions to speed the weight loss and taking stress off of my spine...
Am I even in the right forum? Thanks so much for listening and for any support.
