I've had GERD for a long time (since my daughter was born 13 weeks early) and it has pregressively gotten worse until just coudn't stand it any more. I'v had a sore throat for so long and had just been getting treated for throat infections until my ENT decided to send me to a GI doctor and she discovered I have very severe hiatel hernia where my stomach goes 5 inches into my esophagus. She wants me to have corrective surgery but not until I lose at least 20 pounds otherwise it wouldn't do me much good. So, here I am working on losing the weight - which is what I've needed to do for a long time but now got the wake up call I needed.

So far, by watching what I'm eatng and cutting back on a lot of foods, etc. For the first time in several years I don't have a sore throat and I'm not getting up in the middle of the night with reflux. I'm more rested and am feeling "alive" again.
