Hello everyone! My name is James and I am 10 days away from turning 40. I am trying to get back into working out and have had success with walking in the past. I have a daily goal of 10,000 steps and use my Fitbit to keep track of that. I do most of my walking outside starting at 4:20am with our puppy Harper. I look forward to working with the team.

Yes, you do need to put yourself and fitness and health on the important list. I've learned over the last couple of years that I'm much better able to deal with stress if I work out almost daily. I'm an obnoxious morning person-have been my entire life-I'm awake and ready by the time I walk the 5 steps to my bathroom! I'm working out in evenings now simply because I'm too tired to get out at 4am to do chores and leave by 5 to drive an hour to get to the gym by 6 get an hour in at the gym and shower and be at work at 730. I do much better working out in the morning, which is what I'll switch back to when summer starts. :) None of my family are am morning oriented as I am, though.

Wow---430 is too early for me. I am not a good morning person, so I work out at night. My problem is that sometimes, I forget or get wrapped up in work (I work A LOT both in home and on-site). 2.5 jobs in terms of hours basically per week. Anyway--I'm not saying I'm any busier than others, because I know plenty of people work what I do and then some or have kids too. I get wrapped up in working and then it's too late to work out. If I work out any later than 10pm, I won't be able to fall asleep before 2am and I have to be up by 7am. 5 hours is just not enough sleep. So this is a constant struggle for me. I really want to work out when I get home--but it seems like something is always pressing or urgent.

I need to put myself into the pressing/urgent category and just set my stuff down, go work out and then come back and work.

If I left for work earlier, I'd be getting up at 400 instead of 430. I leave at 6 as it is to get to work in time to get ready for the day. I get home around 7 most days after going to the gym for an hour. After evening milking and talking to the kids, it's 9 or 10 before I've settled and taken my meds so I can go to sleep. But I've got a job much closer beginning in August when school starts back, so it should lighten up!

Welcome!! Wow! So you're up before any roosters wake up. Very determined. I like that. I used to commute daily for only about 25 miles but avg it would take me almost an hour cause of heavy traffic. I didn't realize then as it became part of life commuting that I was actually stressing my body. When I moved nearer about 15 mile drive instead I noticed my entire body relaxing. And my muscles especially arm muscles I noticed the most change in a month. Because of heavy traffic I'd hold the steering wheel so tight. So I know few things are unavoidable but change is good. Try leaving earlier for work few times weekly and walk if only a few minutes once reaching work. Pretend you have to catch the train. That type of walking. It'll make a difference with overall well being.

I'm Laura. 43 (will be 44 in Oct) with 4 kids, a husband, a full time job as a special education teacher with an hour drive one way to work, and goats to milk before and after work. I'm rarely bored, always tired, and sometimes get a little cranky. I'm having surgery the first week of June, but I will be walking at least a little as soon as the dr says get up. I'm an army veteran, and I'm not afraid of pain or sweat (which is a good thing, seeing I live with pain on a daily basis due to a back injury while in the army). My husband is in the army reserves, my older daughter is in the air force, my older son will be joining the army this summer. My second daughter will be a senior in high school, and my youngest (a son) will be beginning high school in the fall. They have learned over the last two years that I WILL make time to exercise, regardless of what else is going on. I'm MEAN when I don't exercise and get rid of the stresses of life at work and at home. :)

Hello,
My name is Annie and I have been on SP forever it seems..... have lost and then gained but is now ready to make the change.
The Past 2,5 years, my life has been chaotic so my Health was not my focus. This resulted in a 55 lbs weightgain.....Now things have calmed down and it is time to focus on ME
I like the fact that you demand participation and I am starting off in the Walking-thread as I am also about to start with Pilates- rehab so that I can have a pain free life . This way I am not failing the team or myself.
I dont have fitbit but a regular pedometer. with brand new batteries. emoticon
See you around!

Hi there...welcome to the team. I so want a fitbit. Sorry to hear you've developed high blood pressure, but hopefully losing weight will lower it.

This is such a great team. Lots of support and help when you need it!

Hello, everyone. I live in a small town in SE Kansas right on the OK/KS state line. I am 39 years old,I will be 40 in May, married and mother of 1 biological son and 3 awesome grown stepsons. My stepsons have graced my husband and I with a total of 11 soon to be 12 amazing grandchildren which i consider each as my own. 2 boys and about mid april will be 10 girls. I guess if I am honest about it I have always had an issue with my weight. I am however at my heaviest and am ashamed to say I have 200 pounds that I need to lose. I have been trying to do it by myself and honestly that just is not working for me. I have a big problem with staying motivated. I know what i need to do, I just seem to have trouble getting myself to do it. I am looking for motivation and support and will happily return the same. I am the office manager for a Jackson Hewitt Tax Service office so work wise this is my busiest time of year. I look forward to meeting everyone a becoming a part of the group. WE can do this, 1 choice at a time!!!

Hi everyone. I'm 44 years young and have been on and off again with Sparkpeople. I need to lose 50 lbs. Just got my annual blood test/mini exam for our insurance and what do you know? My blood pressure was high. I've never had high blood pressure before and I'm still a little shocked. Maybe that last 10 pounds I gained last year put me over the edge. Well, it's time to get busy. I bought a fitbit a couple months ago and have been loving it. If anyone wants to become fitbit buddies, I'm all for it! https://www.fitbit.com/user/2B4887

I'm heading out right now to see how close I can get to my goal of 10,000 steps for today. See ya!

Whether you think you CAN or think you can't, you're right!

Hi all, my name is Kris. I'm returning to SP after a six month hiatus due to work. I realize I must take care of me first and foremost and so I'm trying very hard to get back on track. I've been exercising 10min a day for two weeks now. I can't do a lot right now as I injured my knee....but I can use my upper body, can work my abs and can walk a bit. My goal is to begin walking 30min a day. Hopefully my knee will cooperate.

I'm so glad to be back and be a part of the team. Thanks to Lovelypampa for leading us!

Welcome everyone! For those haven't checked in here please don't be shy. It just helps you and everyone to get to know you better as you read other introductions to get to know us on our team. I created this team only a few months back to have more of a workout gym. A virtual gym. Please come and join us and let's encourage each other so we're all more accountable for our workouts and walking. My sparkpage is locked but don't be shy. It's only locked because I don't want my name to be searched on google. Again welcome. Lots of hugs!

Hi! I'm Renee, 44 and would like to join the team! I'm not new to sparks, but I had tried & failed so many times that I decided to create a new user and begin fresh! I ordered a pedometer from amazon yesterday, not the fitbit which looked really nice, but I don't have a smartphone and usually have to fight for control of the laptop LOL. I can't wait to get it and get started. You ladies are very inspirational! I got up early this morning and did two miles on the treadmill (no clue how many steps that would be!) Looking forward to joining you!

I have been on several teams and have dropped many because of lack of participation, lack of accountability and lack of feedback. I am excited to see that this will not happen with this team.

I had been an on again/off again sparker, but have been very involved in 2013 losing 30+ pounds. I use a commercial treadmill for my walking as well as what I call an "el cheapo" stepper. I also use 2#, 5# and 10# weights for upper body.

I am 48 years old. Together with my husband Larry, we are Salvation Army Officers currently appointed to Lake Havasu City, AZ.

In the last few months I have been at a strange place in my weight loss journey, I have been losing and gaining the same 2 pounds and it has been frustrating.

Hello, my name is Veronica, I have not been involved with spark teams, but am looking forward to getting motivated again. I haven't been working out and I'm really feeling it, so I thought I would join your team, really join... and finally be accountable. when I exercise..I love it. I walk, run, ride bikes (street and BMX with my family). we are definitely a bike family, My boys both race BMX. I'm at my top weight...nearly what I weighed when I gave birth to my first child! yikes. I'm hoping to have some real accountability friends and looking forward to being a part of this team.

Hi my name is Patience. I'm from Pennsylvania I'm 41 and I've been a member of Spark People since February 2012, but just started to really use the site within the past month. I have always been over weight. I have tried many different diets. They work for awhile but then I go back to old habits. I've realized that:

1) I need to make my mind up and make this my lifestyle.

2) I need to stay motivated using several different ways.

3) I need to exercise to help in my journey to lose weight.

Motivation and you buddy system sounds like a great idea to me! I hope to be a good addition to your team! Thanks for a great team!

HI! I'm Carolyn - 42 from Tuscaloosa Alabama - home of the Crimson Tide! :) I've been on SparkPeople since 2009. It helped me lose nearly 40 lbs. I have since gained some back - have a bad back problem so my exercise has been limited this year BUT I have to make myself get back into the "groove" and my back doctor says walking is something I can try - I also have an elliptical at home and I previously used Jackie Warner and Jillian Michaels workout videos which I hope to get back to very soon. I have a pedometer app on my phone that I will try to learn how to use. I look forward to receiving and giving motivation!

Hello Everyone,

I'm Christine and I'm 40. Whew! Got through that first part.

I've been off and on Sparkpeople for a few years now, and decided to change up the teams I have been involved with. I love to walk, it clears my head, but I don't always have the motivation.

A few years ago I participated in a breast cancer walk, of which I completed 10 of the 26 miles. It was a great motivator.

I decided to hit the trail again next spring, and am starting my training this week. I have others participating with me in the fundraising walk next year so I'm more motivated to keep up with the training and complete the full 26.

I travel quite extensively for work (40+ weeks per year) and it's tough to stay healthy on the road. I picked up a Fitbit a few months back and was shocked at how little movement I get during the day. Knowledge is definitely powerful. I'm starting out with a goal of averaging 5,000 steps per day, with a gradual increase to averaging 10,000 per day.

If I'm walking outdoors (which I need to do more of), I need music with me. I have an awesome treadmill at home, but still need to listen or watch something, otherwise I get "stuck" in my head and don't push myself. Likewise at a hotel gym.

I'm not a proponent of joining a gym at this stage. I'm usually freaked at the minimalistic way in which the equipment gets wiped down and, as a very large person, commercial gyms are not the most welcoming to folks like me.

Plus, walking is free! And with a couple of hand weights and Sparkpeople videos, I can perform strength training in the privacy of my own home.

I'm looking forward to walking with this team.

Thanks for the welcome! No we didnt go hiking. Went to MILs - it was her 75th birthday so lots of parties and meals.... DH goes rambling, but I just tend to stick to the city streets for my walks - there is a canal and some green parts. Weekends and holidays we walk by the sea and in National Trust gardens.

Hi! I am currently in my 2nd year of maintenance after losing 45 lbs. I've always been active..walking, training and riding horses, training dogs, teaching, following the activities of my four kids, etc.

Last winter I did the Insanity program and toned up. When I finished that I was looking for an activity to keep me in shape so I started running. That was about six months ago. I've ran a 5K, 10K, and a 1/2 marathon. I guess you can say I'm hooked!

I walk every weekday morning with a colleague, but also walk the dogs most nights. I run three to four times a week, but I haven't used any devices to count my exercise. I simple use Spark and the route tracker.

I should put a shout out to BRENJET, who invited me to join. I look forward to getting to know people better. I am pretty "active" in groups, but sometimes the kids' activities keep me running and I may miss a day or two.

Thanks!

~Mako~

Hi Everyone!
My name is Michelle. I decided this morning that today was the day to get back on SparkPeople. I have been away for too long! It is time to start tracking my food and exercising again. I took a 30 minute walk, then I stumbled across this group when I was logging my fitness and food for the day. I love challenges! They seem to be a good motivation for me. I completed the test...10 push-ups! I just finished Week 1 Day 1 with a big 5 push-ups! Got to start somewhere, I guess.

Hi everyone. January lee here. I am 48 yrs old and I live in Idaho. it seems I've been struggling with my weight most of my life. I've tried a lot of diets and crazy weight lost fads. I even tried the HCG injections. Like most of us we know the most successful way is healthy eating and exercise. Luckily I love to walk. Unfortunately I love to eat more. I'm excited to be a part of this team. I look forward to forming a great support network. Love to get some new ideas to give me a spark to get started.

Welcome, Carrie!. I love Hawaii.

Not everyone can walk 20,000 steps a day. Someday maybe I will be up in that range, but for today, I will do what I can. Just as you should do what you can. And who knows, maybe with a healthier diet and a little moderate exercise, you might find yourself breathing a little easier.

Welcome Marie and FEDERMAN27.

I think reading/writing posts really helps me keep on track. I dislike it when the emails stop coming. It has been happening way too often lately.

Wow, 20,000 steps a day! I am exhausted when I get to 10k!

Best wishes to both of you!

Hi, my name is Lori. I have been on a hiatis from Spark for.... well long enough I didn't remember my user name and had to create a new account! Looking back I know that the reason I failed at this new lifestyle I've been wanting to do for at least the past 5 years is because I didn't get involved in the teams. I'm great at logging my food, exercise, purchasing the Spark book and now The Spark Solution but the enthusiasm soon fades and I fall into the old rut of eating what I want and not moving. So it is my pledge to stay involved in the teams and buddies or whatever Spark has to help me stay committed to living a healthier life. Since walking is my kind of movement I feel this is a good place to start!! I am a young 48

emoticon Let's go!

Blessings,
~Lori

Hello, my name is Lisa and I am returning to Sparks with great joy! I had a lot of life transitions in the last year with all the kids either moving away or graduating college. So, I felt like now was a good time time to find a spark team. Looking forward to new friendships, accountability, achievement and commitment :)

Hello, my name is Bonnie. I have just gotten back after a long absence and am working toward 10,000 steps a day. I've joined the 5k walking training program and am also doing a walking contest at work. I'm only going to be in my 40s for a few more months but am hoping you can motivate me to start my healthy journey and keep it going into my 50s. I look forward to chatting with everyone.

Hello, my name is Terri, I will be 40 in 3 days, been on Sparkpeople for about 3 weeks or so trying to find active teams as the ones for my area aren't...I hope it's ok to go ahead and join. I've been walking every other day for last 2 weeks, next weeks goal is for all 5 days after my am bus run. I walk for 45 minutes, then go back to work for a mid-morning shuttle, then go home for 3 1/2 hrs til time to go back to work to finish out the pm run and back home by 530 pm. I've started parking away from my bus so I have to walk a good distance back and forth for that added little extra. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Jana,

To start, I've been tracking everything I eat and making sure I stay within my calorie range. For exercise, I've been sedentary for a while, so I have to remind myself to start slow. After dinner tonight I'm going for a walk, will aim for 30 minutes.

Welcome Nancy! That sounds like a great goal. I am sure you can do it! What are your smaller goals, what are you going to start doing today to be more healthy. I am focusing on two things this week: lots of water consumption and a healthy breakfast first thing when I get up. My fitness goal is to do one Bikini Body Mommy workout per day with a minimum of 30 minutes of aerobic activity per day.

Hi everyone, I'm Nancy, I'm 47 too. I have two kids ages 19 and 17 and I've been married for 23 years. I've been on SP for a few years now but have never been consistent about weight loss or exercise. That's a big part of why I picked this team - I need the accountability. I want to lose about 35 lbs. before my daughter's high school graduation next June. I'm giving myself 9 months, roughly 36 weeks to do it so that's a pound a week, which is a very reasonable goal.

I'm Julie. At 48 I have decided that it's "About time..." to stop leaning on the excuses for gaining weight and make a conscious decision to change my lifestyle for the better.

I walk 3 times a week on the treadmill and use free weights 2 times a week

Welcome everyone! Thank you for visiting and joining our walking gym group. I really appreciate for the brief introduction so our team will get to know you better. I had not expected so many emails when I started this team so while I'm focusing on both teams, I appreciate for your patience. There are also few emails for hormonal issues as I want to provide as much information as I am able from my experience, please be patient and don't think I'm ignoring you.

For Jamie, appreciate if you could setup a SparkPage as I'd love to visit and chat with you. I don't want to take up too much space here as you have a few questions not related to each other and I need more information to help you. If you need help setting it up, it's on your top orange bar and click on Site Guide.

For everyone else, please try to setup your SparkPage. We'll soon be doing goodies and if no SparkPage, no goodie. Not my rules. It's the same thing if you say you want sofas, coffee table with corner tables and tv and etc but you don't even have an actual living room. Does that make sense? Also you can't add any friends and others can't send you positive comments on your accomplishments. If for some reason you can't because of privacy issues, you can always set it to private like I have it. Thank you.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Jamie. I have some health problems that really interfer with weightloss. Most recently, I had another Lupus flare up that I'm just getting under control. I never stop my exercize and try not to stop dieting.

I walk 4.4 miles 5 days a week. I use some device that takes my pulse and with my programed age and gender, it tells me how many calories I burn. I burn 4000 - 4500 a week. You see, I don't just walk. I go to the woods where I love it and I dance the entire way. My pulse ranges from 127 to 176 depending on how hard I'm working, if I'm going up hill or down and how hot it is. I'm still having trouble loosing weight.

I'm loosing inches every single week but few pounds. I have a bum leg and am not supposed to walk. In fact, my doctor told me to "sit down because the knees will wear out". NO WAY! I've been dancing in the woods about 2 years now.

I have a secret to motivation I'd like to share with everyone. You see, I picked the woods because I LOVE the woods. I blast my favorite uplifting music in my ears and hike alone. (I carry pepper mace in my hands but I go to a well used park close to home). The experience is healing for me on three levels: body, mind and soul. It is soooo beautiful there and I just can't sit still when I hear good music but I picked toe tapping stuff for my hike and created a special play list. I look forward to my hikes every single day. The views are breath-taking and I would swear that there is a mile part of the hike where magic must live. I can feel the wonderful energy of life there. I'm well known at that park now as the "happy lady that bee bops through the trails". LOL

I suggest you find a way to make these walks something to look forward too. What do you like? Where do you like to walk? With whom do you like it? You cannot look at this as exercize or work. You must do something that makes you see this as wonderful and healing. Perspective matters.

Now, I have a question for all of you. I do have a slow thyroid and I watch my diet closely. Generally speaking, I eat as I should and I do watch portions. I resistance train once or twice a week (that depends upon how busy I get or if there's a lot of rain stopping me from hiking). I do not understand why I'm loosing inches (sometimes up to 3 a week) and not weight? Does anyone have any suggestions? It is crucial that the weight comes down because I have a bum leg. The less I weigh, the less it swells and hurts. I'm not sleeping nights because of the pain. Please, does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this problem?

Blessings and Much Success,

jamie

Hello,

My name is Angela, I am 44 and overweight! (I suddenly feel like I am in an AAA meeting... just me being silly). I have been on SP for about almost four years. This last year and half has not been to extent it was before. I was extremely active on this site. Waking up in the middle of the night to help my team make a goal kind of stuff. Well that had to come to a stop. I have so much going on everywhere that my responsibilities and commitments were killing me. I haven't stopped working on meeting my weight goal. I am just moving slower so I can be sane. I am here on this team to join in the fun, support and continue my journey with you.

Hi everyone! I just joined tonight. Walking has always been my best form of exercise, but I haven't been consistent with it. I'm hoping this will help motivate me more. I do have a fitbit, so making sure I use that faithfully. I have one more week of summer break before I head back to work for the school year, so I'll have to get a new routine. My daughter is planning on walking after school with me which will help.

I have been a member of sparks for 2 years. I'm only about 8 pounds away from goal, having lost over 50 pounds, but these last pounds are taking awhile. What I'm most proud of though is I have been able to go off of my blood pressure medicine and my cholesterol level is in the normal range. This is due entirely to my lifestyle change. I can't imagine ever going back to the way I was. Now I just need to continue on.

Hello!

I love my fitbit and strive to reach 10k daily but fall short and probably end up with between 5-7k most days. There are days I reach 10k and feel great.

Looking forward to another way to motivate myself.

Hi ~ My name is Kelly and I'm 48 years old. I have been married for 22 years and have 3 children (2 in college, 1 in high school). I lost 40+ lbs using Spark, then injured myself lifting weights and gained it all back. I'm finally ready to give 100% and take if off again. I'm so excited to have found this team. I recently bought a FitBit One and have been wearing it constantly. I love to exercise but need more motivation to get back in the daily habit.

Welcome everyone!
Thank you for the introduction and just jumping in to exercise. I wish I started this team a while ago but I'm also in this together with you and didn't have the need until now. The walking challenge is already fun. The last 2 days since we started our team, my walking have improved tremendously. But the great news is I woke up very hungry for the first time so my metabolism is working or working overtime. Lol.
For those of you who have signed up for our team but did not do the introduction yet, please do so. Don't be on the sidelines. You can do that with our other team but this is your gym. Come and exercise with us. We can always use the support. Come and have fun while exercising.
For few of you, I tried to visit but couldn't because your SparkPage isn't setup yet. It's always fun to have friends as they can support you on this journey. Positive and fun comments on your page. Awards and trophies from SparkPeople. And best of all, Goodies! To set it up, it's on your Start Page on the orange bar on top click on Site Guide. Towards the end, it shows you how to set it up.

Come on!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi all. Shelly from Southern Maryland here. I'm 49 (will be 50 in February), married with 2 grown children and mom to lots of fur-kids (4 cats and 2 dogs). I'm am following the Weight Watchers diet plan but track here on SparkPeople as well. I chose to buy the FitBit One instead of the WW ActiveLink and I love and wear it daily, but I don't wear it at night because the armband has a tendency to fall off while I'm asleep. My hubby and I have started walking in the evenings again since the heatwave broke and have been getting 10,000+ when we do. Our walk is in our neighborhood and it's a little more than 3 miles. I do have a treadmill in my basement but have a hard time motivating myself to go down and start walking on it. I'm not a big fan of cold weather either, although as long as the wind isn't blowing and the sun is out, I can handle it. Otherwise, it will have to be on the treadmill or at the gym. As soon as the cooler weather gets here, I will be back to walking my dogs at our favorite park that has several hiking trails. Just waiting for the ticks to drop in numbers. There are just too many of them in the summer, which is a shame because my dogs love to swim and the park is along the river.

I too lack the motivation to do more and am looking for help in this area. Maybe this is just what I need. Thanks Lovelypampa for starting this group.

Hi Everyone: Marci from VA , married with 2 grown children. Hubby is retired USCG. Love walking outside with my FitBit but worried about what to do this winter as I am not a fan of cold weather. No interest in joining a gym- any suggestions would be welcome!

Hi I am Nadine, opened the email about the new group this morning. I thought about it for a couple of hours. I ran 5ks, walked more than 10,ooo steps and lifted weights..all that stopped about 6 months ago. Not sure why but I think the email was the wakeup call I needed. I am ready for a change. I am 49 and really think 50 will look much better if I was healthy. I live in WI in the country.

Hi, my name is Pam, I live in Indiana with my wonderful husband of 18 yrs. I am 42 yrs old and I am trying to get back into shape. I have a body media fit that I wear everyday and love it. I was very surprised to find I didn't walk near the steps I thought I did. I love my little reminder to get up and move every so many hours since I have a desk job. So happy you started this Team Forum. THANKS!!!

Pam

Hi, my name is Theresa, I am 43 and I live about ½ hour from Boston, MA. I drive 32 miles each way every day to and from work. On average it takes hour in the morning and 1.5 to 2 hours each night. I try to get out and walk at lunch each day. I purchased a fit bit a few months ago and I’ve been striving to hit 10000 daily steps. I’m also trying to lose about 35 pounds and get myself to the gym to lift weights. Always looking for motivation to do more. emoticon

Hi! My name is Donna. I am a 42 yr old mom of 4 & I have a 2 yr old grandson I am helping to raise. I was walking 5 miles a day & getting in shape- then I had a foot injury that landed me on the couch for quite sometime. Then other things in life added to the stress... I am trying so hard to get back on track - but its not easy. I want to get back to 5 miles every day...I can do 5 when the motivation strikes...but I need help with the motivation - as my walking buddy from before my injury is working & lacks the motivation to get back out there with me...Thanks for "listening"

Hi everyone. My name is Lori. I am 46, ok closer to 47. I live in Las Vegas with my husband. I walk in the mornings on my treadmill. However it doesn't take much to convince my to not work out. I have a desk job so I sit most of the day. I continually tell myself I am going to get up and walk more during the day but I get busy and it doesn't happen. Not to mention how hot it is outside.

So there is my short list of excuses. Those out of the way I am excited to be accountable to a team that I will have to check in with and log my progress or admit my short-comings. emoticon emoticon

Hi My name is Margie. I love walking and running. I have not ran since last November. I miss it. I usually walk 3-4 miles 4 days a week and garden on the weekend. I gained 10 pounds since November 2012 and feel so out of shape.
I don't know where my drive went, but I am working on getting it back.
I have not counted steps but I do count miles.

Hi I am Linda I am 46 and I live in Phoenix, AZ. I need to lose weight to get the extra weight off my knees and feet. I usually use the treadmill (since in the summer it is over 110). I just moved in where there is a gym at our apartment, so I am getting back to using it.

Hi I'm Debs (Tulip) and I'm 40. I live in Florida with my husband, 2 hound dogs & a cat. One of my goals for August was to consistently get 7,000 steps. Apparently that isn't much of a challenge, so I've upped that challenge to 10,000 daily steps. I walked the house this evening after walking the boys to make sure I get my steps in. emoticon

Help me get to 70,000 steps this week. Join me on Fitbit www.fitbit.com/user/26T84Y

Hi! My name is Holly and I usually get 10,000 steps in or more. I love to walk outdoors in this lovely time of year and use my treadmill in the winter since I live in Minnesota and not a fan of cold weather. I have lost the weight that I wanted to lose, but want to remain at this weight for the rest of my life so want to continue counting those steps every single day!
I have a fitbit that really motivated me and I love it!

I can do it!!

hi! my name is tammy, i am 45 (soon to be 46) yrs old. i struggle to get 5,000 steps (i like to try to blame it on the weather, and mosquitoes, lol!) when i am at work, i EASILY get 13,000-15,000. i need help on the days i don't work!

i have a fitbit (which i LOVE and am addicted to!). i use it all the time, but take it off when i am doing work outs, just works better for me. i like to see different categories, one for walking, one for cardio and one for strength, so this team is gonna be GREAT for me!

i joined the strength and cardio teams also! i am really looking forward to this, this is what i wanted and what i needed! thanks!

Hi! My name is Brenda. I am a teacher from NH and need motivation!!! I am 49 years old (guess I joined the team just in time!!) and I have an 8 year old daughter. I have been away from Spark for about 7 months and need to get back on track. Looks like the invitation to join came at the right time for me. Thanks lovelypampa!!!! I only have a pedometer and someday hope to get a fitbit. So tomorrow will be day 1 for me to track steps. Looking forward to grabbing some inspiration from this team!!

My name is Jennifer, I live in Lincoln NE. I have been getting 10,000 steps a day for quite some time, but lately I have struggled with motivation. On days that I work, I get between 15,000 and 17,000 and usually don't feel like doing anything else. I don't have a fitbit, but I do have a pedometer.

I am 48 and trying to make lasting changes. i have been wearing my pedometer the last two weeks. I forgot it today and feel a little naked without it. I am considering getting a Fitbit. I try to go out an take at least one walk during the work day. While the weather is nice, I have been walking 40-60 minutes every evening. Last night was the first night in almost three months that I didn't walk (except for vacation).

I'm Jeannie. I have a pedometer app on my phone. I'll have to figure out how to use it now. I've been walking, but not measuring steps, just time.

Maybe this is the kick in the pants I need to keep me motivated - I am pretty competitive :)

Hello. My name is victoria and I live in the uk. I have a fitbit and always walk at least 10000 steps a day. I even wear it when I do my running.
There are brilliant podcasts from nhs direct via iTunes. They're strength and flexibility and are done 3 times a week. They increase in intensity over 5 weeks and require no equipment.

Hi my name is Jennifer, and I am 42. I have two kids (10 and 7) and with a full-time job and carting the kids around, I find it hard to find time to work out. My husband and I joke that we are the most out-of-shape parents with two very fit kids. I started using a FitBit about a month ago and am trying to move from 7K to 10K steps per day. Thanks for starting this team - I think it's EXACTLY what I need!

Hi! My name is Jolene. I'm going to be 43 in a few days. I own a FitBit and try to reach 10K steps a day. I'm trying to get back into yoga and have found yogadownloads.com hoping it would be easier to practice when it fits in my schedule rather than when I can find a really late or super early class and I can get the workout from it rather than all the other stuff.

nothing is impossible, the word itself says i'm possible!!!

My name is Valerie, and I'll be 44 by September. I own a Fitbit and try to reach my daily 10K.
I use online workout programs (like BeFit on Youtube, or other workouts) when I cannot go golfing (summer) or skiing (winter).

My name is Lovelypampa and I'm in my early 40s. I own a Fitbit and try to walk avg daily 10,000 steps. I certainly would like to do more but lacking motivation. Looking for strength workout ideas. I like to combine some of my walking and strength together. My other team is 40 Somethings with 25 to 49 lbs to lose.
Misc: Usually during the summer, I'm out and about helping family/friends. I may not have access to the internet depending on my phone and the area but I will communicate when I take off. And yes, I still have to walk daily doesn't matter where I go. Haha..
