Relatively new here and very uncomfortable talking about myself! I am hoping to find here the support I do not receive from my spouse/family. Have been exercising 3 to 5 days per week for all of January and part of December. I have a VERY long way to go and am frequently discouraged by my seeming lack of progress. Where is the magic wand??? LOL Hope everyone has a fantastic day and keep up the good work!!

Thanks for the nice comments and e-mails I've gotten. You guys are great! Just an update on Sat I went to find out about my scratched eye that has had me down for a few days- and gotten my off track. Dr. did a full workup and vision exam and said I have a recurrent corneal erosion (basically sounds like a scratch that won't go away-- I knew that :) ) I do have 20/20 vision though. So I'm taking drops for 30 days, Sun/Mon/Tues my eye was swollen shut (I think from the exam not the meds) but its getting better and I hope to be back in the swing of things by next week. Thanks for all the support!!

Hello" to all the Sparklers on this team. My name is Ann. I have been a member here for a little while, but haven't been active. Life's trials and going away from home to help elderly parents made it hard, but not impossible, to be active on SP. What I absolutely know now is... it is worth all the effort it takes, no matter how difficult, to be here each day you possibly can. The Spark community in so many ways helps me be successful on my healthy living journey. I look forward to getting to know each of you. We can help each other stay on our healthy living wagon. I brought some duct tape to tape my butt to the seat when I start to fall off. Falling off the wagon is not an option for me anymore. I want this to be my last time starting and my first time reaching goal. emoticon

I don't think I ever introduced myself... opps!! Anyway, this is my 3rd attempt at SP. My first was awesome, my second was too lose some babyweight and I just timed it waaaayyyyy to close to having the baby and just set myself up for failure that way. And not this is #3. My start off plan is to use my elliptical in the early morning before my husband and son get up (and before I have to be at work at 7:30am) and when I'm bored of that do one of my workout DVDs. I like the Biggest Loser ones because they always make me workout hard. I was doing really good then the last couple of days an old injury to my eye (last fall it got scratched) has made it very difficult to get up and workout, but I will see a doctor this weekend and hopefully get back on track. I want to do things right this time and be around a long time for my family and for myself. I would love to have some Spark friends if anyone is interested message me! Good luck everyone!!

Well, I'm Donya again. I'm so excited! I lost another 2.5 lbs this week. 4.5 total in 2 weeks. Hurray!! I'm also using the activity tracker. I sure don't move much. I started taking the stairs at work, there are many. I work at a desk at a casino and have to park on the 3rd level of the parking garage and I work in the basement. I also love the barcode tracker.

Hi, my name for here is seatwood1. I am 65 years old. I was just told by my doctor that I am pre-diabetic. I weight 216 lbs and need to lose 70 lbs. I also have arthritis really bad in my knees. I have trouble walking and doing exercises so I hope I can find some exercise that I can do sitting at first so I can try to get healthy and lose the weight I need to do. I want to thank everyone for their help and information.

Hi everyone - My name is Jen, and I need to lose about 20 pounds. I was always in Weight watchers, and it worked well, but I am trying something different now since I have gained about half of the weight back. Hi, my name is Donya. I started a week ago and my goal is to lose 50 lbs by July. So far I've lost 2. Two years ago my liver function was very bad. I have high cholesteral and high blood pressure. I'm on meds for it. My Doctor told me to lose weight and stop drinking. I stopped drinking 20 months ago and I lost 32 pounds on another diet but gained back 16 of them. By the way, my liver function is totally back to normal now. Hurray!! And I feel wonderful with my new lifestyle change. I am so excited about this program and love all the feedback online. Anyone have similar circumstances, I'd love to hear from you.

I know how to do this because I just fixed mine today. I think it's because we're in Canada. Anyway, easy fix! Click on the start tab, then right under your name click on email/account preferences. From there, you can unclick the metric systym square and it will switch to pounds.

Does anyone know how to change the ticker from kg to lbs? I weigh in in lbs, not sure why my ticker is showing kgs and can't find where to change it.

Hi, my name is Penny and I'm an American living in Canada. I'm hoping that joining SparkPeople will help me to keep my weightloss dreams in the forefront of my mind rather than falling to the backburner like they normally do. My long term health goals are to lose 80 pounds within one year and be as fit and healthy as I've ever been in my life. My shorterm goal is to remember that I'm trying to do this, keep track of my food intake (even if it's not on here) and to get some sort of exercise most days of the week.

In the last few years, my motivation and willpower have dwindled to less than zero, but I'm working on building tiny habits into my routine that will eventually grow into full-blown lifelong changes. I know I can make the changes that need to be made to reach my goals...now I just need to get my lazy rear in gear!

HI,
My name is Trish and I joined SparkPeople to help me lose the weight. I am 60 years old (how the heck did that happen?) and I am at my highest weight ever (164). I figure I put it on slowly (over two years thanks to the stress of Super storm Sandy and other things) so it will take some time to lose it.
In the past I have tried lots of 'diets'. This time I just want to change the way I eat and exercise so it becomes more of a lifestyle. I have taken up running and now I've added some strength training. My goal is to lose 30 pounds by August and to run a 5k each month (hopefully under 40 minutes!)

Hi Everyone! I am a mom of two monsters 11 and 4 but they are great kids. I am recently engaged and have now taken on being a mom to a 16 year old boy. I just joined Spark not too long ago but I am still learning my way around. I have about 30 lbs. to lose this year and about half of it by mid-April. I have issues with my liver and the doctor feels if I can lose the weight it will reverse the effects plus I have a wedding to look good for next year. So here I go. Between work, school part time, and my kids tae kwon do and soccer activities. Itís been a struggle but I try and go to the gym 4 times a week if I cannot make it then I try and walk/jog up to 3 miles in 30 minutes. I will come on and check messages as often as I can but I will be here and will keep up with my goal.

Hi everyone! I'm a happily married wife to a wonderful husband and mom to a sweet, spunky four-year-old girl. I just joined Spark a few days ago and love the trackers! I run a daycare out of my home so I don't have a lot of time to message here but will check Iin from time to time. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was pregnant and ended up with preeclampsia after I gave birth. I also had a hysterectomy and back surgery a couple years ago. It has been a rough road but I am feeling good these days and just had my thyroid med. adjusted so I hope to lose some weight by March. I have a lot to learn here...like what the Spark points are for etc. but I'll get there! :)

Hello, My name is Laura and I am very new to the Spark community. I joined mainly to gain points on Swag Bucks. Now that I am here, and have heard about the successful outcomes others have had, I thought I would stick around and see if I too could make this work for me. I have a goal to loose 17 pounds by June...when I turn 40:( blah, yuk! Anyway, I am married, have two children at home, and one that moved out on his own this past year (he lives close enough to stop by and do laundry and eat every now and then). I graduated in May from college and have only been hired on an as needed basis, and they haven't needed me. So, I am bored, hungry , broke, and in dire need of inspiration! lol

Hello. My name is Tamaya, I am 37, married to my high school sweetheart, we have four children and two grandchildren. I have been struggling with my weight all my life. I joined Spark about 2 or 3 years ago but i am one that gets bored really quick. My highest weight has been 257 lbs and at this time i am 239 lbs.
