The scales are holding steady (altho I was 2 pounds lighter on Monday than I am today, go figure)

The next few days are gonna be tough - DH is taking a couple of days off (as my birthday present).

I'm so excited!!!! The ViniYoga dvds are at the PostOffice for me to pick up today.

With the improvements made to my shoulders and hip through acupuncture, I'm the closest to being pain free since . . . well, forever!!!! These 2 dvds (1 focuses on the upper back/neck/shoulder and 1 on the lower back/sacrum/hip) hold the key for strengthening the areas where I'm weak due to the years of restricted movement.

I just posted a blog with all my November goals . . . and I'm ready!

I won't let me down!

I'm excited about a couple dvd's my acupuncturist let me borrow.
At our last appointment, she worked on the pain in my shoulder that's been my companion for over 5 years now. I've got to the dr, specialist, physical therapy, chiropractor and massage . . . only the massage has given me any relief, and that's temporary.

Well last Wednesday, the acupuncturist worked on it for the first time, and stuck the right spot . . . . applied some heat then did some massage. I don't want to jinx it but . . . . the pain hasn't come back. That was just one treatment . . . . Can't believe it.

But, back to the dvd's . . . these dvds are educating me about the muscles, ligaments, tendons, connective tissues, etc. in the lower back and shoulders.

It's good to have hope !

Wrapping up DH's vacation. We've been working around the house, finishing up the new (third) pond.

Next Wed 10/2 is my 1 year SparkAversary and I am ready for getting back to business. I've maintained the initial weight loss. Can hardly believe the difference between my life today and one year ago.

Have been smothering in all this hazardous air/smoke caused by the forest fires raging around us. My outdoor activities have been severely hampered and usually restricted to the early hours of the morning, if at all.

But there's plenty to do inside.

I've been doing a lot of emotional healing these past few weeks. It's been good . . . and a long time in coming.

My weight is staing about the same, fluctuating a pound or two. Health is good. Shoulders and neck and back are happy with the revised routine.

Day 4, and final day, of our stay-cation . . . and the only day we have been able to stay home.

It's given me and DH a chance to reconnect (life and busy-ness really gets in the way sometimes) and we've had so much fun together.

Tomorrow he will be back at work and I'll be back on track. I have to admit, I miss my comfy little rut.

Suffered another set back, physically speaking. Back/shoulder/hip is out again and I'm going back to the chiro on Friday.

But, I am continuing on with my re-education and am focusing on nutrition, new recipes, meal planning, etc.

It's a short-term set back but I'm still focusing on my long-term goal.

Saw the Chiropractor yesterday and was pretty much wiped out by the time I got home. (And I almost got wiped out a couple of times on the road!) Still pretty tired today but my shoulder is feeling better. I've been able to get some yard work done without un-doing what we accomplished yesterday. Have another appt on Friday.

Have been staying with the program so far as nutritional-wise. Also, making some head-way spiritually and emotionally as well. That's a good thing.

Lots of catching up to do, but will go slow and steady.

Cat, I'm proud of you for passing up the chocolate display. It would have made you feel worse, not better, AND YOU DON'T DESERVE that! Of course, you knew that, which is why you were able to hold firm.

I understand about the pain. It keeps me from being able to do the cardio I WANT to do, and I'm getting tired of chair cardio. I just keep thinking that by plugging away at this I'll eventually be able to stay on my feet long enough before the pain becomes unbearable to actually do more of what I want. I give myself this talk nearly every day.

Two weeks ago I went through a family 'drama' day and got so upset I sort of felt sick. I've been a little down ever since, and the scale isn't moving even though I'm still being faithful to my program. I figure I'm still 'detoxing' the stress, and have to rely on NSVs and SP for motivation right now. That's probably a good thing in the long run. I was using the scale for motivation, and that's not what I should be doing. Lessons. Baby steps. It's gonna be a long journey.

I consider passing up the chocolate on a sucky day to be a NSV. Once upon a time you might not have been able to do that.

Hang in there! We're all in this together. Thank goodness, because I don't think I could do this alone.

I think I hit the breaking point yesterday . . . and decided I'm not going to break it!
I'm gonna make it!

But it snuck up on me. . . . I wasn't having a particularly good day. Have not been feeling the best for a while. I'm tired of constant pain. I can't do the things I want to do . . . including my workout. And constant pain beats ya down after a while. blah.

I had to go into town to do some errands and shopping today. My shoulder is hurting so bad I can't ride my motorcycle..... so I had to take my car. blah.

I had to wait 30 minutes for something that was supposed to be done before I got there. blah.

I went to the grocery store to pick up some produce. It was all yucky and overpriced.
blah.

Oh my way to the check out, I see they have a huge display of Russell Stover chocolates.

I DESERVE THIS!!! emoticon

So, I walked on past them . . .
came home and had a handful of yummy fresh strawberries.

Day 7: We rode all day yesterday; stopped at Subway for lunch and I stayed on program. (Love that we can use the Spark nutrition tracker to plan ahead!)

Still dealing with the IBS (I guess that's what it is) but I am staying on program as shown on my Sparkpage.

I did 25 minutes of 'geriatric' zumba this morning!

And since I signed up for 2nd round of Spark Coach,
I've set my fast break goals higher this time.
Those short term or smaller goals are really motivating to me.

Well, I spent a lot of time defragging my brain this weekend . . .

I updated my SparkPage and set new goals in place . . .

and I'm charged and ready to go..... matter of fact, I'm already ON it!

Today I started with some weights and Bowflex
then planned to start with 10 minutes on the elliptical . . .
Then I decided I'd make a phone call at the same time.
I got so busy talking and making plans
and I ended up with more than 15 minutes!!!

I'm Cathy and I live in Cave Junction, Oregon.
I'm 60 going on 25. At least in my head.

I have a sweet little 7 year old Yorkie named Bad Leroy Brown that is the joy of our lives. He rides with me on the motorcycle. He's a rescue from a puppy mill that had a breeding stock of 1800 dogs (you do the math!) that was 'engineering' pocket designer dogs. He was the smallest of the litter but (at 6.5 pounds) was larger than they wanted, so the entire litter was doomed for destruction. I'm so glad that a rescuer got them before that happened because he is absolutely perfect.

I still consider myself a newlywed. We just celebrated 4 years of marriage. Hubby and I both were widowed and had given up on ever having another love in our life . . . but God had other ideas. We are having more fun than a couple of teenagers.

We live on 5 forested acres surrounded by beautiful mountains, about 5 miles from our tiny little town and 30 miles from the 'city'. We're surrounded by all sorts of wildlife, including bear, deer, and even an occasional Bigfoot sighting.

After taking an early (forced) retirement last year, I am still discovering my hobbies and passions. The things I used to do don't hold so much interest for me . .. so the sky is the limit.

I started SparkPeople last October - all the details are on my SparkPage. I've maintained a loss of 18 pounds since January and am not sure if/when I'll decide to drop some more. Right now my focus is on expanding my physical limitations and extending my endurance.

Thanks Kitty for putting this together! I am looking forward to getting to know my team mates and seeing where this journey takes us. Let's go team!
