I recently had to retire from my professional career due to complications from epilepsy. Unfortunately, I was many years away from retirement age. I am trying to come to terms with this new way of life that was not in my "master plan" for myself as I loved my profession tremendously and my active lifestyle very much.
I am grateful to have found this site on SparkPeople as I am already feeling a sense of isolation due to not being part of the "working world" but rather one of medical appointments and health related matters. I look forward to meeting some kindred spirits who have somehow found a way to make it through the initial rough patch of a chronic illness diagnosis and then found an eventual way to carve out a new way of being productive and happy in this world.
Just checking in a dear friend invited me to the team so here I am, hope I can figure out what this team is all about.
I won't go into a long intro because if you want to get to know me wow you could read my spark page. I saw something about a "spring sign up" don't know what that is exactly but hope to figure it out really soon so I can join in the team.
Take care & be well have a great day & a lovely week.
Many Blessings Always Debby
May you find peace, grace joy & love inside each day.

I'm 57 years old and have about 60 lbs. total to lose to get to a point where I'll feel I'm at a healthier weight. Once I reach that weight, then I'll decide if I want to go lower. On April 30th of this year I cut out 98% of regular sugars and 100% of diet sugar/diet foods. I feel this is what I need to do to help my over all health. I've gone thru the withdrawal period already, which wasn't a lot of fun, but it could have been worse. And since the 1st of this month I am now down 6 lbs., 4 lbs. of it just this past week, so I know what I am doing is working.

I'm glad that I found this team and I'm ready to get to work. I'm married with two children and three grandchildren with another due in January. I retired last December. I have been a lifetime member of weight watchers for 6 years but since retirement the weight that I had lost has found me. I live in Lancaster County PA. I belong to a Bible Study Group, Pinochle Club. Bridge Club and Book Group. I really like to travel anywhere and everywhere. Our family vacation this year is to the Outer Banks.
I would really like everyone to have their OWN intro thread with your Sparkname in the Topic menu. That way your buddy can findyour thread easily and get some infor on what you like and are working on! Remember, the more your buddy knows - the more you will enjoy your mailed goodies!!!
