Hi! I'm new to this diet, and team! I started on Monday, 7/27. Looking forward to losing weight. I have a lot of weight to lose.......at least 50 pounds, and then I could lose another 30 pounds, but I am focusing on the 50 pound number first. It looks like there are a few of us just getting started. I'm looking forward to encouraging each other!

Hi Judee! Congrats on losing the 30 pounds and don't fret over gaining 3 during your vacation. That's not bad at all! I'm sure you will drop those 3 in a heartbeat. Would love to join you on FB during the free weight loss program, but mine is free anyway! I don't pay. I follow the plan on my own. But I will be most pleased to do it with you. So it starts August 1? Hmmm, that's a Saturday, right? That would mean Phase 1 and it would throw me off. I normally start Phase 1 on a Monday so that Phase 3 will fall on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, when the hubby and I are apt to go out to eat. So I will start on Monday instead of Saturday.

LET'S DO IT!

Hi CrabbyLion. Tomorrow is my weigh-in day. I probably didn't do that well, since I got into some cookies and, GOD FORBID! ... popcorn at the movies. (Both popcorn and movie were good.) I am so mad at myself that I am determined that the upcoming 4 weeks will be better than the first 4 weeks. Next week my new stationary bike finally arrives and I am so looking forward to riding. I am sure between that, my weight lifting and swimming, that I will ramp up the exercise part and loose more weight.

Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. Don't let that "30 lb. goal" intimidate you. YOU CAN DO IT!

CL, if you are looking for some on program desserts, google Haley Pomroy Desserts or go to Pinterest. I have several but need to purchase some ingredients before I can make them.

So glad to hear you are doing well, Debbie.
I love FMD also. I am rather stuck on loss of 29 pounds. I think it is in my head. Taking to many extras. Had cookies and bread Friday. I have something about losing the 30 pounds-I get there and am bad-or have food I shouldn't at this point.
I do get back on track but boy is it hard. I really like the plan but I also like the processed foods.
I am now talking myself into looking at recipes for some desserts I can have without the guilt.
Takes me awhile but I am getting there.
Keep up the good work and I will too.
Have a great week!

Hi Crabbylion! I'm still hanging around, waiting for some feedback from others, like you. I am still following the plan and am going into week 4. I am getting used to a new way of eating. I am the hungriest during Phase I, but I have learned to love eating fruit again and vary my selections so I don't get bored. Phase II is the worst for me. Protein and vegetables, vegetables and protein, then more protein with more vegetables. It's to the point where I can't stand protein anymore! I hate the snacks ... protein! LOL! I try to vary it up between beef, chicken, pork and fish, but man, just how much of that can you eat? Thank goodness it only lasts for 2 days. One good thing is that I have learned to love vegetables again and now I even crave them! Phase III is the best because I get to eat nuts, hummus, sausage and other goodies.

Sunday has become our grilling day to prepare me for upcoming week. For instance, today we are grilling a huge bowl of veggies; squash, zucchini, sweet peppers, onions. We are also grilling pork chops, strip steak and a small ham steak for the hubby. I would add some chicken but I have plans for using that in a crock pot recipe on Monday.

Yesterday we went to a farm stand near our home for some fresh fruit and veggies. I found, much to my great delight and surprise, that they have frozen meat, chicken, pork and sausage made locally without any preservatives or additives. All natural. I purchased some chicken patties, strip steaks, pork chops and hamburger patties, all natural, no nitrates. I was beyond thrilled ... especially when I checked out! My stash of protein, veggies and fruit cost me just $90. If I purchased the same items at our local grocery store, my bill would have been well over $120!

This program has taught me a whole new way of "food thinking" and I now read labels very carefully to ensure I am purchasing the right items. I will say, though, that I am not fond of coconut oil. Blech! Just 1 tablespoon will overpower your meal with the flavor of coconut.

Please keep in touch, Crabbylion, and let us (me?) know how you are doing.

I just joined today. My name is Debbie and I am from South Florida. I am in my 60's and gave up hope of ever losing weight after I quit smoking. I actually gained 30 pounds from the stress of not smoking, being involved in a car accident (stupid kid texting smashed into me) and retiring from my job. Ugh! I found this program and decided it was exactly what I needed ... to boost my metabolism. I just started last week and lost 5.4 pounds. For me, it was a miracle! I am so pleased. I am now on week 2. It's going slow but I hope to see good results when I weight in on Monday.

I am happy to join this group and hope to find support as my journey continues.

Thanks, CRABBYLION!
This helps a LOT. So far I have been pleased. I didn't get hungry at all on phase 2, and I was so excited to start phase 3. So happy to know what is going on in my body, and so far I have lost 4 pounds, but I was concerned about my trip and I didn't want to blow it. I am very happy to hear this advice from someone who has been there. I felt like this plan converted real well to real life, however, since my trip is so soon after starting, I wasn't quite sure of my options. Thanks for your help.

Good Luck, MARCQUEY! Glad to have someone along side since we are starting about the same time.

Hi,
I have been on FMD also since Feb and lost 25 # as of today!
I eat my snack half way between each meal. Usually 2 hours after breakfast. 2-3 hours after lunch. Nothing after dinner which is between 5 and 6pm.
Does that help. Get a little further and the hunger will lessen and disappear most days.
Restaurants aren't bad. Always oatmeal for breakfast. Egg white and spinach omlets on Wed and Thurs. Salads for lunch with meat. Ask for vinegar or lemon juice on Wed and Thurs.
It is an adjustment but after awhile it will not be a big deal to ask for what you want.
Restaurants are usually willing to accomodate your wish.

I am just starting FMD, and I'm currently on day 3 of week 1, and I have a couple of questions. Did anyone else feel hungry between the 3 hours on phase 1? It was not all day, but I did notice that I got hungry after breakfast and one of the snacks. Also, can we eat sooner than the three hours? Finally, what do you do about travel. It seems that Phase three does lend itself to travel, but what are good restaurant options.

Hi, I'm Beth, and I literally have been on a diet for 40 years! I recently was moved to end the yo-yo once and for all. I'm 49, have PCOS, and have been stuck in the same sized jeans for 3 years now. This diet makes a lot of sense, and even if I don't lose weight, at least I can be happy eating a lot of good food.

I live next door to a giant mango tree, and have always declined my neighbor's offer of mangoes. Not this year! I've been grain free and low carb for a while, and it feels SO GOOD to eat mangoes and significant quantities of fruit and grains on phase 1. My body says, "ahhhhhh".

This is day 2 of my second week. The first week went well until phase 3, and then life got in the way and I waited too long to eat and on one occasion had to eat unhealthy snacks. But I am determined to be better prepared this week.

I'm glad this board is here,

Beth

Glad you made it here Patti! And Hello to Rebecca as well! I came back to SparkPeople looking for fellow FMDers. There is a lot of organization, and preparation required (at first, at least), which is something I struggle with. So it's good to have a place like this to find support!

It sounds like you are finding movement that you enjoy Dandelion - that's key to staying active, I think. :) I NEVER thought I would like yoga because I am so heavy (I most definitely wouldn't be caught doing it in a class at the gym!!!). But I came across Basic Yoga for Dummies with Sara Ivanhoe (on Youtube) and she made it easy! Highly recommended (the only problem is that it's broken up into 10 minute increments which can be distracting - I've ordered the DVD to get around that!)

I am glad to share anything which will be helpful to anyone trying to do this. I am still eating in the phases and still have 47 pounds or so to lose. Here are very quick tips and I'll write more as my time frees up.

1. Plan the FIRST week of food BEFORE starting just so you have the food on hand at home and ready. You don't want to be hungry and find out you don't have 5 ingredients you need.

2. Choose EASY meals the first week and then you will be more likely to get through the week.

3. Don't obsess about the scale! It will move if you stick with the plan! At least it has for me.

Have to run - will check in later.

Oh, the soup is great with just beef. A sure thing. Exactly with the kale too....
Excersise is a little odd, I always hope I am doing the right thing on this diet, last year I did FMD and I was running. Too much. That was odd. This year, not running, so Monday's & or Tuesdays I walk to work (2.5 miles) Wednesday's & or Thursday's I do Jackie Warners video for toning....see, it is lifting and toning. So, eh, might not be the best? It is only 15 minutes and I have loved it for years...then on the weekends? Nothing! Walking is what usually happens...maybe I need to try the yoga. But today for example, I am walking to work but I am planning it so that I will be slow. I like detox baths! I might try that too.
It is hard not to be active here in the north when the days start warming up...so if I am to "cheat" on the FMD a it will be this, excersising More! (Well the coffee is a big cheat, but I swear it keeps me alive.)
Happy Sunday!

Good Morning All...
I just joined your team yesterday after a neighbor told me of her and her husband being on this diet...
I bought the book from Amazon and will have it tomorrow...
From reading some of the posts on the team threads, my first step will be to read the book and get a plan set up, grocery shop and cook...
I will welcome any suggestions you may have for me...a First Timer !!!

I signed up for her newsletter and when I got my first email to confirm my subscription, there was a link to a 28 page Community Cookbook....
Oh I do have a question (it probably will be answered in the book !) :}
I am a diabetic...Is this diet ok for me ? Low Carb !

I will for sure! Not a huge lover of lamb, so will probably stick with beef, but always looking for ways to use kale!
As for exercise - I have a little home gym setup in my daughter's room (while she's away at school). I have a rebounder (mini-tramp) that I use for P1 cardio, a used Total Gym that I use for P2 weights and P3 started out just detox baths, but then I found some really good beginning yoga videos, so I have been practicing at that while still trying to get in a detox bath on Sunday eves. I miss a day here or there, but have been pretty good about it. I seem to get the weight loss bump on Mondays and Fridays with the rest of the days kind of holding steady. Would love to see movement on the scale every day (downward, of course!) because I've got such a long journey, but I can feel the health benefits in so many other ways that I don't stress it too much.
How about you?

OMG Blu! You HAVE to try the soup! It is in the book as "Beef, Kale and Leek Soup". Using lamb is an option, I use half Lamb & half beef for stew. I also add a LOT of all different kinds of mushrooms, I change the recipe and usually add more of everything. Such a great way to eat kale too. It really does save me. So satisfying. And 2 Cups are a serving! Phase two is hard, that is the hardest for breakfast for me. I don't know how anyone could eat hard boiled egg whites. Uh uh.
Well, I am glad you stuck it out for no caffeine! Lucky you. I am sadly addicted.
OH! I LOVE the chili in Phase one too, I use buffalo! Isn't it satisfying to see the tower of Ziploc's in the freezer! Ha! SO much easier.

YES! Good luck to US! We can do anything, we have to keep telling ourselves this everyday we wake up.

I'm going to have to check out the stew - I need something that makes me feel like I'm eating a rounded meal on Phase 2! The prep work is another place where I need to step up my game - I've been pulled in many directions lately and not taking the time for it. I'm set for Phase 1 with chili in the freezer - yum!
I can't wait to have coffee again. My routine now is 2 cups water with 2oz. fresh lemon juice on waking, then a cup of tea. Roastaroma is my favorite, but hard to find so I'm often out. I don't know how much a part coffee played in hindering my weight loss, but with so much to lose, I want to give myself the best shot I can (plus - the withdrawal was quite painful & I don't want to go through it again anytime soon!!).
Anyway - thanks for all the tips & good luck to us! emoticon

Welcome,
Your first priority is read the book and get started with your grocery list. You will love it! It took me a week to get acclimated to new way of eating but it's so worth it. The book is first and then I did my research using the internet, There are many sources of help via facebook Haylie Pomroy, fastmetabolismdiet.com, https://www.facebook.com/TheFastMetabolism
Diet?fref=ts, Facebook: It's Not Just A Phase! Fast Metabolism Diet Support Group, http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/cookbooks.a
sp?cookbook=781615, Many resources if you search. Pinterest: search for FMD and you will find invaluable resources for grocery lists, recipes, suggestions. Good luck!!

Hi blu!

Well, yeah, mornings are pretty tough. I went back to coffee. I am at the end of my second week. I do not cook for afamily, just me and my love. He jokes that he is gaining weight with all the food I am making...but, yes, I do meal plan to some extent, mostly to make sure I have enough of what I need so I am not shopping all the time. But I guess I do it once, check to make sure, pencil out a rough meal plan, usually based on the week before and do it. I DO prep a lot though. I just made another batch of haylies lamb kale stew because I love it so much. (Most satisfying on phase 2, feels like I am cheating but I am not!) but you too are losing weight! We both have lost around 7 pounds? That is something...I think I am starting to get over a hump. But I don't have much to lose. It's mostly re-thinking, right blu? That's what you should work on with your mornings? Maybe if it so hard to eat...I dunno I kinda have a snack breakfast. Right now I have warm cherries i thawed, celery with a little almond butter and half a slice of Ezekiel bread with almond butter...yes, and then there is coffee. And water. Before I went back to coffee though I gave in for Harneys Vanilla Comro (?) tea (decaf black) and that was excellent as it felt like a coffee....also roasted dandelion root tea...but, I couldn't let go. I have no problems with coffee (I can hear haylie recite all the issues now) but here I am. Healthier. Stronger. Hope this helps? Let me know, you're not alone!

I'm having problems with meal planning - I'm also cooking for my family too and for the most part don't have to do too much extra. Breakfast is the hardest for me! I'm at the point where I have to come up with my menu by Monday and then spend the next 5 days planning the next week to stay on track. It shouldn't be this hard! Something in my brain is putting up obstacles!!

Hi - recently returned to SparkPeople after being away for a while. I'm nearing the end of Week 3, and have really been struggling so I thought rejoining SP would help. Glad to find this team and hoping to work on making meal planning easier (and faster!!) and need some tips for eating regularly. Even though I broke my old habit of 2-3 cups of coffee upon waking and breakfast at 10:30, I still find it VERY difficult to eat anything before 10 am and that blows my schedule for the whole day. I've lost 7 pounds so far, so can't complain, but I also think I can do better!

Hi! New to Spark but not this super exciting diet. Here for motivation and sharing. I love the diet and am a die-hard. Love to see results with such excellent food- but with that said of COURSE it can be tough! Phase 1 is my favorite, and there are so many great recipes. I don't have a lot to lose; I need to push the re-set button and the time is now. Today is a rainy Sunday and I start tomorrow. So, I am wishing for lots of folks to chime on here so I can continue my inspiration...I am a busy working gal in Northern Minnesota living on Lake Superior...lets GO!

22 years old, and looking to lose about 40 pounds through 2 rounds of the diet plus some more clean eating this summer. I would love to get back into a bikini before summer ends this year. I've been on Haylie's plan for 7 days now and I lost 8 pounds. Anyone else here in their 20s? I've been having a hard time finding anyone even close to my age.

Just began the FMD Yesterday... WOW what a day, I drank enough water to float a boat! Wish me luck, day 2 here we go! Down 2 lbs... must be from running to the pot all day and night! Food choices are a learning in progress for me.
Monday, I made some good choices spent the morning with a shopping list and bought most of what I needed between 2 stores. Now it' figuring out my menus. It's kind of a what am I in the mood for and quickly become, what do I have time to make for the rest of the week since work will keep me away from my kitchen most of the day. Prep is the key to this for me. This is the only way for me to stay on this program... D.I.E.T Did I eat today? is going to be my weeks motto! and drink my water!
Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

How are you doing on the H burn? I didn't lose this week. Was week 4. I think I will research the burn diet. Maybe a boost will do me good.

I just substitute a flavor I like. If you do not like the celery flavor, maybe less would be better.
I do not have the burn book. I figure I will save that till I hit a plataue. I do like the success of
this diet. What a boost to the ego for something to work so well!

Hi everyone.
I have been checking the other FMD board. I am in my 4th week. Have lost 15# and feel
great. I find this takes planning. I have made the phase 1 and 2 soups which really cut down on my worrying about what to eat. I am a creature of habit.. Would love having conversations will all.
I need a support group. I would go to Weight Watchers for the weekly accountabilty of weighing in. So far I am doing well on my own. But it is nice to share with people in the same boat.

I am starting FMD on Monday and looking forward to a healthier eating style! I was on Medifast for 6 months and lost 20 pounds, but gained most of it back when I stopped using it. I couldn't overcome my negative feelings about processed food. So here I am - wish me luck!

Thanks for the legume info. I went ahead and ordered the book and cookbook for my kindle today. I checked the legume issue in the book and cookbook. At this point, I both books say to avoid legumes during cycle or phase 2. So I think the problem has been fixed.

Also, I wasn't sure if I should order the cookbook. But I am so glad I did. I love the chart about portion sizes based on how much weight you want to lose.

The other reason why I didn't want to get the cookbook for my Kindle is that past cookbook purchases for my Kindle have had unreadable ingredient amounts or charts were made impossible to read. I haven't found any of these problems with this cookbook. And the recipes look fantastic. I consider myself a good cook of healthy foods. This cookbook will have me kicking it up a notch or two.

I'm on day 27 of this program, haven't lost as much as I'd like but then I only had 15 pounds to lose. I lost 5 the first 5 days, stalled for a couple day before dropping a pound or two. So far 8 pounds. Sunday I'll go back to counting calories to rid myself of the last 7 pounds. I loved this program! The first week was lots of reading and organizing, week 2 went soooooo much easier. I think you gals that just started will find this program a great way to jump start your body into losing. Just a note to you all newbies, phase 2 says you can have legumes in all 3 phases. No, no, no! No legumes in phase 2. I also made the mistake of eating full portions of protein for my snacks, 1/2 portion only. I purchased the cookbook, not the diet book so I didn't know any better. That might be why I kept plateauing and not losing the whole 15 pounds I wanted to shed. Good luck everyone!

I've been on a mission to eat healthy. I lost 95 pound with Eat to live and learned some healthy habits. Then something, which my doctor blamed on thyroid, happened 14 months ago, and I've regained 37 pounds, creeping up steadily toward 200 pounds.

Close to giving up on the whole thing, I watched the Fast Metablolism Diet on PBS this morning. I'd like to start Cycle 1 tomorrow (actually today but I don't have any high glycemic index/carbs in the house.) after a trip to the grocery.

I came to Spark People to check if there was a team--and here you are!! Thanks for setting this up.

So my question: Should I wait until the book arrives, or can I start getting my metabolism healthy with the 2-2-3 cycles as she outlined in the PBS program? I figure I can get in one week of all the cycles while I wait for it.

Hi! I'm Ruth, a chronic yo yo dieter. I'm trying to put an end to that, as well as end my caffeine addiction and stop processed foods. I have about 20lvs to lose, and I'll be starting Monday, 2/23. Is anyone else starting then? I could use a motivational buddy!

Hi, I'm Linda. I've been doing the Sparkpeople recommendation for calories and working out for three weeks without any change in my weight. I feel much better, so that's good but I desperately need to lose some weight. I so Haylie Pomroy on TV and decided it wouldn't hurt to try this diet. I am on day three (P2).

Hi, I am Donna. Going to try this diet starting Monday. Seems to be something I can do that will last me the rest of my life. Both my parents have diabetes and I am deathly afraid of that. I fear I have some insulin resistance and would like to lose 80 pounds, although 60 might be more practical.

I think if I plan out my meals and cook ahead and portion everything out, I should be okay.

Ok so I'm back on track. I weigh myself only once a week and at the same time on the day I have a trainer at my gym. Their scales are more accurate I find. I did buy one of the cookbooks just to change up the food and it is going to be nice. Phase 2 is so boring but since I've made my own jerky it has helped some and I'm not spending $7 at a time for a 3 oz. bag for myself and husband. Well good luck everyone.

Hi, I did the Fast Metabolism Diet for 4 weeks, and I have lost 10 pounds. I would have lost more but the last week, I traveled to a conference in Las Vegas and was hard to follow the cycles. I didn't gain any weight though, which I consider a win.

Anyway, my answer to your question is I think you should only weigh yourself once a week a the same time. Our body reacts differently for all the phases. I usually gain after phase 1 but loose all the gain and more after phase 2.

Hope this helps.

Hi my name is Margaret and I'm 50 years old. I'm new to this forum and started this diet on the 16 of September and have lost 4 lbs. yay, but since Tuesday I thought I would get on scale and see where I was at and had not list anything. Disappointed I figure it has something to do with my period coming. What do you guys think?

Hi my husband and I are ready to start this again. I hit a plateau last time but must say I got sloppy especially on phase 3. I was wondering if the app is for ONLY Iphones? I would love to get it but I do not have an I phone.

Hello! I am Wendy and I am 49. I started FMD on Monday and I am down 5 lbs already.
I ordered the cookbook yesterday.

I have always found it hard to cook for my family and not eat with them or just to eat a salad, but so far I have been able to do this.

Hi. I am Tee and turn 65 (groan) soon. I love the book. It was the only diet book that explained in easy to understand terms how food affect the body. I tried this diet last year, felt good and lost a few pounds. Then, illness prevented me from continuing.

I am hyperthyroid with Addison. I lost 7 lbs when I began taking Addison medication, and gained it back. I am a swimmer. The hardest part of the diet for me is snacking on the go and decreasing amount of exercise I do weekly. Giving up coffee was easy when I replaced it with bottled water. Hypothyroid/Addison patients on Facebook reported weight loss on this diet and I am ready to give it another try.

Hello! My name is Gail and I am 56 years young.

I have hypothyroidism and am hoping that this diet will help me lose pounds that I have been working to lose for years. I would really like to lose 15 pounds and wear my wedding ring again. I have never been one for trendy diets but have been counting calories and exercise minutes for years.

I checked this book out from the library and hope to start the diet next week. I will try to come here often since it looks like there are great links for support and ideas.
Thanks!

Hi! I'm 63 and find it sad that I have been yo yo dieting most of my adult life! I'm hoping that this way of eating will change that.
I've done a lot of research and there are so many tools on the web for this diet. One of the better ones I found was http://www.chewfo.com/diets/the-fast-metab
olism-diet-by-haylie-pomroy-2013-what-
to-eat-and-foods-to-avoid-food-list/#p
hase2portions
it is a site that gives all the info in a nutshell.
There are all 3 phases on pinterest for food ideas.
And Haylie Pomroy's personal site is very informative plus her Facebook page.
I'm on my 4th day and have lost 4 lbs. Day 3 & 4 were killers but oh I'm loving Ph3! Except I get to full!
Another great site is on Facebook FMD Support Group. It has all the charts, recipes etc.
I wish everyone the best success on this journey!

Hi Rochelle, and welcome! I'm just beginning week 2 now, and really excited about this program. I keep printouts of the food lists, meal maps and portion sizes handy for easy reference, but soon enough, it will become more familiar as I learn what foods I like and when I can have them. It's a different approach that so far is very satisfying.

The first few days may be tough as your body readjusts to different nutrition, but you'll find yourself not craving sugar/carbs by the time you get to phase 3. Hang in there, and good luck!

Hi!
My name is Rochelle. I am a 55 year old Nursing Student, mom of 18 year-old twins, wife of a basketball referee and someone in dire need of losing weight. Haylie's book was recommended to me by my doctor, she is a firm believer because she has SEEN the results in her patients.
I'm not hesitant to say that a lot of my battle is mental. That "head hunger" gets me for the most part. Sadly enough that thing of having someone wait on me, or bring my order, or even having my sale "approved" at a drive through that makes me feel "good" about myself and trips me up as well.
I want to be here for my family, I want to find out what God has for me once I graduate in December 2015. I have so much I want to do, and now the weight is starting to take its toll. Injuries take longer and longer to heal, blood pressure and cholesterol are a battle... so I'm ready for a new day.
Appreciate any and all prayers emoticon

Thanks for your comment Mickie, and best of success to you and everyone else getting started on this journey.

I first heard of this program on another forum where some people were getting great results, so I did some further investigating and liked what I found. It's a healthy, clean program, and one I think will be sustainable. I recently learned this type of diet is called Carb-Cycling, which Chris Powell from Extreme Weight Loss has his own program that he puts his dieters on. I have his book requested at the library and will be interested in comparing the two programs.

Welcome, Angela!

I relate to so much of what you said. I could see myself getting more and more carb-resistant with time, and I had a big "Aha!" moment when I heard Haylie say we MAKE our bodies carb resistant by avoiding them completely.

So...I was very willing to try her plan. After my 2 higher carb days (Phase 1), I was not breaking the doors down due to cravings, and my hunger levels did not go through the roof.

Maybe it's the types of carbs?

So, I'm willing to give her plan a go and see where it takes me. So far (2 days, LOL) it has taken the scale DOWN, and I like that direction!

Hi! I'm Angela from central WI. I'm 48 w/two young daughters, and work full-time as a graphic designer. I just started 7/14 on the Fast Metabolism Diet. I have struggled all my life with my weight, and recently had amazing success with the Ideal Protein diet (most similar to phase 2 of FMD) which was my first introduction to a low-carb plan. I lost 90 lbs! But that was short-lived as I gradually gave in to temptations, and ended up back on the same old cycle of recommitting to a diet and falling off the wagon, yo-yo-yo-yo. :-(

I did learn that carbs are where things go downhill quickly for me, and when I overeat carbs, they have a negative effect on the hormones which determine how the body responds to food that is eaten, both mentally and physically.

I'm really impressed with the science behind The Fast Metabolism Diet because it allows me to eat carbs and fruit that were forbidden on my previous program. It's tricky to learn at first - basically three different programs and what I can eat when - but I love a challenge and know this program will work for me if I work the program!

I am Mickie, and I live in north central Alabama.

I have been married for almost 21 years to my high school sweetheart, and we have a 16 yr old boy and 13 yr old girl.

I teach 8th grade math.

I, too, saw this on Dr. Oz today. My body has become completely resistant to losing weight. I've been on a ketogenic diet (20-50 g of carbs a day), and while I stopped gaining, I could not lose.

I am extremely carb-resistant, but I'm willing to try the phase approach of the Fast Metabolism Diet to see if it straightens my metabolism out.

Hi. I am Pam, living presently in Greenville SC.

Just say this on the Dr Oz show and then googled and found out the basics of the book so I could start

Hi, I'm Karen.Living in beautiful BC.. Anyone else out there? I had 'given up' dieting when a friend showed up, thinner than the last time I saw her. She raved about FMD. Said no at first but gave in! Found the food was alot to eat at first but after a week it was okey. Wasn't able to do it properly first week due to moving our office. Did pretty good the next three weeks. I have lost 14 pounds now, Suprised myself when I actually put it in the weight tracker. Pleasant surprise I must say.
I took a week off and went on a holiday. Super happy that I came back with no weight gain!

Must admit tho it took another week to get back on track. Finding food a little bland so I'm really looking for good recipes and encouragement this time. I tend to 'tweek' and need to not do that. My two tweeks I have not given up - my cup of tea in a.m. (black tea with milk) and on Friday night I have a glass of wine (with one glass of water on the side!) as one of my carbs for evening.
Need some good recipes...wanna share encourage and with me along the way....cuz I need it

Hi my name is Janet. I was looking for something to give my metabolism a kick and searched SparkPeople and found this group. Downloaded the book and spent the weekend reading it through. I also downloaded the App on my phone and it really helps to keep you from making mistakes as I can see that would be easy. I'm not going into this with unrealistic expectations but had been at a plateau and wanted to give myself a push. For P1 it does look like a lot of food but they are all good so I think it will balance itself out. Bought some of the foods but I can see I will have trouble finding some others as well. Hope to be successful even if it gets me through the plateau. Thanks

Hello, my name is Lisa, or can be called Kitten.

I started my first round one on May 5th, pretty reluctantly and suspicious because I really dont believe in all the "fad" diets out there, however my own therapist recommended Hailey's book to at least get me started losing weight once again. I have been on Spark on and off since 2007, I have reached my goal once then life and medications caused me to gain all back and plus lots of extra. As I read her book I loved the variety and how the phases were set up. The only thing I refused to give up completely is my coffee BUT I did go from a full pot of full caffeine to 1 cup of 1/2 caff coffee. I drink lots of lemon/lime water and cook a lot more. However there are still days in which I dont eat so well when as a family we are out and about and stop somewhere to eat. Week one I lost 8 lbs., week two lost 4 lbs., week 3 lost 3 lbs., I am in week 4 now. This week is going to be really difficult since we are out of money till Friday and am out of Phase specific foods. I did make the Chicken and Rice soup(instead of barely) and Turkey chili on Sunday so I have plenty of those in the fridge and freezer. I am however out of fresh veggies and meats to eat in Phase 2 so I am guessing I will stick to phase 1 until payday and I can go shopping again.

Hello! My name is Alona, aka "LaLa"

When I started this new journey back on February 1st, 2014 I was 5'2" and approximately 218 pounds. My goal is to also lose 65 pounds and be in a size 8 by December 31st. To date, I have shed around 31 pounds and lost 2 pants sizes. I started in an 18 and now I'm in a 14. I may exceed the size 8 but we'll see. I may also get to 150 and want to go down 10 more pounds to 140. I'm really not sure. My goal this journey is to push myself a little bit more.

As to date, I have gained about a pound back and can't lose anymore than 1 pound a week. I believe it's because I'm eating too many carbs and not enough protein.

Good morning .. my name is Donna .. and I will be starting another round of FMD tomorrow .. I did one complete 28 day cycle and lost 14 pounds .. then did another half but should have taken a week of for popcorn and a few cold beer ..lol should of had a break between rounds .. so after 2 months of holding my own ..I'm back on with Haylie tomorrow and looking forward to feeling wonderful again .. I felt so so good when I was faithful .. the weight never came back but I know it could in a second if I didn't exercise like nuts and stick to a bit of the program .. so going to give this 100% for 28 days again .. and re-read the book plus try some new recipes from the cookbook ..

Good luck to you all ..take the best care of you that you can !!

Happy Mother's Day to all ... sending you a sprinkling of love to let you know you are perfect!!
