Hi, I'm Jo. Having a tough time staying on track but I try every day. I'm 66. Three years ago my 2nd husband died leaving me all alone. It is the first time in my life I have ever lived alone. My biggest problem is actually cooking for one. I'm too lazy and end up just grabbing whatever is quick. So I'm not completely alone....I have 2 cats (Heckle & Jeckle) and a dog (Peabody). So at least I have something to talk to once in a while.

Hi Barb.(BA5454) I'm Robin, also an RN from Ohio. I've lost 40 lbs and would like to lose about 15 more. I'm doing pretty well with diet, but have a hard time getting motivated to exercise. Maybe we could use our strengths to encourage each other.

Hello everyone. My name is Julie. I was successful at losing, having lost 170 lbs up until last year when I had a medication change. Then it seemed like everything I was doing flew out the window. I've gained 50 lbs and feel horrible. I know I need to get back on track and work harder, so that's where I am right now. I need to talk myself into doing more strength training instead of just cardio. I love the elliptical. I'm ready to make the change back to where I was last year.

Hi, I'm Barb from Ohio. I don't have a problem with fitness (running and hiking), but nutrition is another thing altogether! I would like to lose the pounds I've gained since retirement 3 years ago (approx. 35 lbs). I'm an RN retired from the military, and now work here and there at a local park conservancy. Hi! I'm Robin, at 28 yo SAHM to two girls under 2. I'm a writer (since I can't go back to work right now) and an avid reader. I love reading everything. I'm also an avid yarn crafter-knitting, crochet, spinning.

I have 140-ish pounds to lose to be at my goal weight, but I'm breaking it up into sections. Right now I'm moving toward losing 54 pounds by the end of the year. My routine is primarily dance-based (zumba, bellydancing), but I also do Jillian Michaels workouts. I struggle to maintain a routine because my only real time to workout is when my girls go down for naps but they rarely go down at the same time.

But I'm planning to make this work despite the challenges!

Hello everyone, My name is Sharon Jones. I am 59 years young. I want to lose 100 lbs. I purchased a fitbit on the 1st of the month, and have been wearing it everyday except the last 2, as it quick, got it working again, and back on track. I wanted to get use to having it on and seeing if I would use it. I like it alot and found it really motivates me. I have set up my treadmill and total gym as well.... I am hoping if I add one more motivater by getting a tracking buddy it would push me over the edge.

Hello everyone! I'm a 29 year old woman who has been married for 10 years. We have been blessed with 2 children, a 9 year old son and a 1 year old daughter. I've always been on the "chunky" side, but after giving birth to my son, I gained a lot of weight. It wasn't until after giving birth to my daughter that I weighed my heaviest...220 lbs. I was shocked that I had allowed myself to get like this. Shocked and disgusted. I've now lost 15 lbs, but I know that I have a very long road ahead of me. Can't wait to meet you all!

Hi. My name is Patti. I have been with Spark People for about 10 years. I have been doing pretty good at losing weight and just now hit a plateau and have been the same weight for two weigh ins. Hi! I'm Blair and I am an almost done college student. I have always struggled to lose weight and have gone on health kicks and weight loss adventures before but nothing has really worked. The difference this time is that I'm in it for the long haul this time. My goal is to lose 50 pounds.

It'll be hard with student teaching coming up in September but I feel like it will only make me healthier and more successful with my studies. I'm great at motivating others just not myself. :)

Hello I am Sherry.
I hope I am doing this right in the right place.
I am a 48 yr old mother of 4 girls. The oldest Is 29 the youngest 16.
I have about 170 pds to lose. I have always been the big girl. So I know this is not easy and I have gotten "comfortable" being overweight.
Well I a tired of being comfortable !!
I was recently diagnosed with Diabetes and COPD along with the "other" problems
that go along with being this big.

So I got carried away in the find a partner thread so I will just cut and paste it here lol

I am Chrys, a 320lbs, transgender gamer. I need to lose at least 120lbs (my first goal). I am not super mobile do to an accident that broke my left leg. It's been spiked with a rod but still not as mobile as I once was. I have a number of problems, including but not limited to bi-polar, fibromyalgia, chronic back and neck pain. I am a bit of a scatterbrain. ADDish. Video games and reading are two of the few things that can keep my attention for more then five minutes. I have a few friends who joke about how they have to log into xbox and bug me on live just to make sure I'm still alive lol.

I've been told I have an... interesting personality, overly blunt or unintentionally snide/sarcastic sounding. My moods flip easily. Depression is a daily factor in my life. I can sometimes be creepy silent, over SERIOUSLY blabby, (you think this post is bad heh). And i have a problem with asking for help most of the time. Being alone most of your life tends to do that to a person.

Hi everyone,

As of today I weigh 198, and need to be down under 150... and probably would love it around 130. I joined this team a couple of weeks ago, and I'm just now introducing myself.

I used to workout all the time and was in great shape, up until about 10 years ago. Now it's a struggle to get back in the swing of things.

I've been on SP for just two short spurts for about 2 months each time since 2012. Then just 5 weeks ago, I did my third re-start, and I'm hoping this will be the time I finally get it together.

I just started to blog about this whole experience, and I think it's helped me a lot just writing about where I'm starting out. If you read them, you'll see where I am, and how frustrating it's been.

My main issue is that I seem to go in phases of doing real well, and then not so much. So if you're like me, hopefully we can keep each other on track!

A little about me... I'm single and don't have any children, but I have two adopted Fur Babies. I live in the hills of Sparks NV, which is basically connected to Reno, and a few minutes from Lake Tahoe. I'm a Christian and very spiritual, but I don't attend a church. I have special gifts relating to Metaphysics and a love of the Sciences. If you're interested, I touch on it in my photos section. My DVR is mostly every Science or History documentary that's aired. They record quicker than I can watch them.

I'm hoping to find a partner(S) THE MORE THE MERRIER! I'm very active on SP now and want to stay that way.

Hello everyone, I joined Sparkpeople towards the end of Jan 2014. I am still learning the system, and still looking around checking out the site. There are lots of things on this website. And have to admit, I get lost in some of the posts, from others and articles, etc....

Anyhow, I did join other teams, like 30-50 lbs or more to lose, Florida and now this one too. I am 33 years young, and hit the heavies point in my life, so now we need to get this weight in control. I have been making baby steps since November/Dec 2013, but decided to crank up my efforts Jan/Feb 2014. Glad to know I am not alone and others are working just as hard and together to achieve the same goal.

Hello. Frank here. New at this. Only a month so far in SP. Had weight issues all my life. Struggled a lot with them. In the last 10 years gained a considerable amount of weight. Tried different methods, but it was the lack of perseverance what messed up the outcome.
last December, I made a promise to myself to make a dramatic and consistent Lifestyle change. So far, doing great. exercising periodically, eating healthy and embracing the new lifestyle.

Hi, I'm Doug. West Coast born and raised in BC Canada.
New to this team, but have played with Sparks for a while.
I successfully lost 65 pounds 2012-2013, but didn't fair so well on the maintenance part of the deal.

Back at the grindstone to get back to 185 pounds and to maintain properly this time.
I am 58 this year and retired a few years ago. I have hypothyroidism with no other complications. I am on a Gluten Free diet because my wife is Gluten Intolerant (not Celiac, but has very prominent physical symptoms if she eats any wheat / gluten products). I will see you around the message boards as I continue to seek out an accountability partner.

Hi Everyone! Thank you for inviting me to your team. I am a 30 year old former teacher, currently administrative assistant looking to get in shape. I live in a suburb of Chicago. I am a die hard Bears, White Sox and Hawks fan! I have two beautiful huskies who I love to pieces. When I look in the mirror I am more than unhappy with what I see. For the past two years I wouldn't wear shorts in the summer because of my legs. This summer I would like to wear a pair of shorts. So far I have been doing this for 2 weeks and haven't seen any results. I'm not giving up but could really use some friends and support. If you would like to add me as a friend go ahead. Hi! I live in Tennessee and am a retired teacher (math, which I taught in our county for 25 years). I now work as secretary/bookkeeper at my church, Sacred Heart. I am a devoted Catholic, mother of four adult children, two adult grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. I am 75 years old & in a couple of months will be 76! My eating plan began on January 13, 2014 and since then I have lost 10.5 lbs. It's hard for me to exercise, both because I have a few physical problems and because I work and play the piano or organ at my church up to three times a weekend! But I finally made my doctor agree that I could join the gym, which I plan to do after March 1st (payday)!

Hello everyone! My name is Julie and I'm a 29 year old electrical engineer living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
God, family, and now my health are the most important things in my life. I also train in karate with my parents and husband.
My goals are to lose ultimately 120 lbs or so but baby steps first so right now I would like to be down 40. My main reason for desperately needing to get healthy is that me and my husband have been trying to conceive for years now and it just hasn't happened. We have and amazing marriage and really want to add a child to our lives. Right now, the doctors say that my chances of pregnancy go up with every pound lost so I am trying to make it happen! Lots of healthier choices and prayers to St.Gerard in my life right now!
It's very nice to be in this group and I look forward to talking to all of you.

My name is Beth. I am new to Spark People but I have not been very motivated lately. I could come up with a hundred excuses about how the winter is long...or I think I am coming down with a bug.....or blah blah blah blah. So what I am trying to say is I think having another person that is holding me accountable would be very beneficial. Just thinking about it makes me want to have a very productive and healthy day. hello everyone! I thought I would try out this team, I really like the idea of being accountable to someone. also working through the challenges this team has. I've been overweight most of my life. lost a lot of it a few years ago and managed to keep most of it off. I am not happy with how I look quite yet, I'm not sure how much weight I have to lose because I haven't weighed myself sense I was pregnant. My main focus is gaining strength and the ability to so the things I would like to do, I figure as I become happy with myself, I will be happy with how I look. (hope that makes sense).

anyway a little more about me. work full time in a clothing factory, go to school less than part time, I'm the mother of a very spirited little girl, married to the man of my dreams, have a strong faith in God, and love to learn/read.

Hi I just joined this group. I have struggled all my life with my weight or body image all my life. I have had enough. I know I can get this done. I am concentrating on making real honest steps to change my unhealthy habits. I am not sure how long it takes to get to my goal weight.
I work a demanding yet isolating type of job so I am reaching out to find the emotional and mental support I need. I have been married to my husband for 20 years but he is 100 plus pounds over weight and doesn't like changes so I know I am pretty much alone here with this. But I am determined to get back to the healthy person I was. I am very aware that the job I do is contributing to over drinking and eating. I started two months ago with cutting down and almost all out " Eating out" and this last month I have been working on logging my food so I can see where my calories come from and just today I added in some working out. ( Well) what I call working out. I started at 235 and I am now 229. One positive thing is I love to drink water so that's a goal I don't have much issue with. Anyway this is me.

My age is 61, I'm overweight by about ten pounds. I want to lose from 153 down to 143. After having hip surgery a year ago, I woke up about a month ago and realized I was not participating in my health! My goals are to exercise regularly again, which is slow but progressing, and to eat much less. I have some grandkids I want to have a footrace with! I can get motivated and have a positive attitude, I just need to be conscious of my actions and not fall back in to the snacking and being lazy.

Hi, my name is Margaret and I live in sunny (sometimes) Florida with my husband and two teenagers. I presently belong to a TOPS chapter and they have helped me lose about 30 lbs.
I am an emotional eater and when I plan things out (activities, meals, to-do lists) I do fairly well in my weight loss journey. But it is the little things that "pop-up" in daily life that get me started with mindless eating. It can be the kids fighting with each other or me, it can be a "planned day" not working out, being tired and not wanting to take a break,or any number of things that get me "off track". I AM doing a lot better with these things but still struggle.
I guess my motto should be "One Day At A Time". emoticon

Hi everyone!

I just joined tonight and wanted to say 'hi' emoticon Since Feb. 5th, I have been watching my eating habits improve and also exercising more (3-4x's/week). My exercise of choice is Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds. I borrowed a few of her dvds from the library and just bought some recently. It's amazing how much you sweat! lol

I live on the Oregon coast with my husband - we are "empty nesters" (and love it!)

Lively - I think that's my problem. I'm not sure what I really like. Typically, I will get on a treadmill and do some strength training. I also learned to swim a few years ago and used to do that pretty consistently. But I can't say I really ENJOY it. Now that it is warming up outside, I think I'll set my sights on swimming. But I have a few pounds to lose before I can fit into my swim suit again.

I bought some lovely beads in a fabric store. When my friend will complete certain amount of things ( she tracks on a calender with a sticker ); I'm going to send her one of these preety beads. Maybe she will make a necklace, bracelet , or keychain. emoticon

Hello, all! I am excited to join this group! I really feel that what I need is accountability...it's just too easy to cheat myself out of the doing the 'right thing.' Right now, I feel like I have my food choices pretty much under control, but I can NOT get myself moving!! emoticon

Hello all from snowy Ohio!

I was invited to this group by MRSTWIGGY and I'm glad she sent the invite. I think it's great that this group is actually committed to finding partners to help make one another accountable - especially since our little online community may be all we have in terms of support!

I really looking forward to talking to you all and reaching our goals together!

Right now I'm dealing with a little discouragement from the weather (being in NE Ohio....i.e. in the Snowbelt, we just got dealt a nice winter storm the other day)

I've been keeping myself moving, but the prospect of going running outside with temperatures in the teens isn't the most appealing (although my Husky/Malamute mix thinks otherwise!) So I've been doing cardio videos on youtube to get my heartrate up every day.

Hi, my name is Carey, and I am very excited to be here. I began my Spark Journey in January, and I am finding the threads, Spark Points, and my new Spark Activity Tracker very motivating.

I know slow and steady wins the race, but find myself a little impatient at times not seeing the scale drop more than a few ounces or pound at a time, but keep reminding myself I didn't gain it all in one day too... this takes time and commitment.

That having been said, I enjoy sports, love the outdoors, and am learning to not let weight hold me back-a real stretch for me! :)

My name is Janice. I am a 75-year-old retired widow. I joined Spark People some years back. At that time I reached my goal and maintained my weight until I had some problems with my knees. My knees are much better now but not back to the way they once were.

Hi everyone, here I am back at the beginning again after several months of denial that I needed to be getting back on track. I will be 56 years old this year, suffer from high blood pressure, thyroid issues (the one that makes you gain weight) and a lack of motivation and sustainability. I've been a SPARKER since 2008, and an on-again/off-again Weight Watcher and every year that scale keeps climbing...

After getting my health stats back in November, I decided that it was time to get off the pot and get back to work - but then the holidays hit and it only gave me another reason not to stay focused and on track.

January came and I hit the ground running, I've been tracking (most days) and logging on to SP (most days). I feel that I am in a better place now then when I started, but feel myself waning. I'm hoping that joining a team will help keep me focused and accountable.

I am Wildpink3 I have 200 plus pounds to lose. I have changed my eating habits all last year. now this year I have added exercise. My favorite thing to eat is fruit. I love drawing,reading, macramae, and video games. I take part in church as well on a regular basis. I am looking for an account ability partner. Hi Everyone, My name is Kelly and I live in Anchorage Alaska. I am 48, married with a son age 14. I have about 100 lbs. to lose but my ultimate goal is to be healthy and able to move freely without pain. I have been yo-yo dieting most of my life. I have taken so many weight loss classes and tried so many different ways to loose the weight. I have been successful in the past but I always let something get in the way and the weight comes back again. Well this time it is going to work.

I have recently found out that I am allergic or sensitive to processed grains, corn, soy, rice, dairy, milk, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, & eggs. Boy is this hard to do. You do not realize how much you miss something until you cannot eat it. The biggest problem if I eat these foods at the moment is inflammation in my joints and it causes lots of problems when you cannot exercise and barely able to walk for a couple of day. So elimination is my goal. I am reading about the Paleo style of eating and may be able to get some new ideas to get creative with cooking. I tend to eat the same thing over and over and then get tired of it.

I have struggled with weight for as long as I remember and I have decided to make this year the healthiest year of my life yet. I enjoy exercising but nutrition is sometimes an issue for me. Hi everyone!
My name is Angel and I am a 33 yr old married mother of three who is currently living in central NY. My main vice is binge eating, which is still a constant struggle, but fitness is becoming quite the hobby for me. I am looking to run my first 5K and obstacle run this year and would like to drop 50 lbs in the process. I have really begun to enjoy group fitness classes, my fave being the "Pound Rockout Workout" (if you haven't heard of it, Google it--it's awesome!) I coach youth soccer, love to "letterbox" (another thing to google), love the outdoors, and enjoy reading...I am really excited to be part of this team!

Hi there! I'm Melissa, I'm 38 and overweight even though I'm a fitness instructor. I'm doing Tracy Anderson Omnicentric hoping this will be the missing link. I'm also trying to be a little bit more consistent with logging. My biggest hurdle is bad behavior at night--I'm a saint all day long then completely fall to pieces at dinner time. I'm trying to eat MORE in the day time, because I think maybe undereating at breakfast and lunch is the culprit. I live in Alaska, but moved here from the Florida Keys, so yeah, I'm forever bitching about that. It was a worthwhile sacrifice in the long run, I'm a mommy and soon to be married and ever so much wiser than I was when I was a beach bunny. Can't wait to meet my partner in accountability. emoticon

Happiness is a choice. I base my happiness on my own accomplishments and the blessings I've been given.

Good Afternoon,

My name is Danielle, I'm 34, and although I have been a member of SparkPeople for several years, I've never really taken it that seriously. I would eat better/exercise/track for a while, and then life would get in the way somehow and I would give up and stop logging on. Then I'd get back on, and then give up again. This time is a little different for me though. My New Years Resolution is to get healthy and my current goal is to lose 100 pounds by the end of the year. So I've jumped head first into everything that Sparkpeople has to offer and so far I'm seeing really promising results. I'm finding that the more involved I get with the various SparkTeams and with my SparkFriends, the better and more motivated I feel all around.

I will be looking for a partner, so if anything I have said has struck a chord with you, let me know emoticon

Hi, my name is Carolyn. I would love to have a partner so we can encourage one another to be accountable, making a healthy lifestyle a new and lasting habit.

I am 62 and feel much younger than that. I used to be atheletic and want to get back in shape. I have been going to the gym one day a week and even though my work leaves me very little free time during the week, I want to make time for two more trips to the gym per week.

I want to start counting calories and being a responsible eater, making more healthy choices.

I don't want to buy bigger clothes, I want the ones I have to feel loose!

Hello All,

Iím glad I found this team because Iíve really wanted to find a partner.

Iím 41, divorced, and a mother of four wonderful children, ages 21, 18, 14, and 8. I work part time and go to school. My plan is to become a librarian (right now Iím a circulation clerk). I live with my boyfriend, whom I adore. Right now I weigh 213 lbs. Thatís down from my highest weight which was 225. My goal is to reach 165. Thatís what I weighed before I started having babies. Iím 5í11Ē so Iím nice and slim at that weight. I donít have any major medical issues, but I am bipolar and on medication. The meds help a lot but I still have to put up with moderate shifts in mood/behavior.

I donít have much in the way of friends. I would sure like a partner for mutual support and accountability. I would like someone who is willing to check-in just about every day and who also is willing to chat about things beyond losing weight/getting healthy. Someone close to my age would be ideal, but Iím flexible. If you check out my Spark page you can see what things I like to do. I'm very easy to get along with.

Hi team

I am new to this team, well,sort of. I joined and as life does, got distracted from the site. I did check daily on sparkpeople, just not enough time to post.

I want to thank those team members that notice I joined and welcome me so openly on my spark page, Thank you, logging in and seeing people online really do care meant alot to me. emoticon

I am 44years old and a mother of two wonderful young female adults. My oldest is married and moved out a few years ago, my youngest is still at home, going to college. I am a stay at home mom, although now with my children all grown up - I have to re-prioritize making myself first. emoticon

So, here I am on sparkpeople to get help in losing 25Lbs and get into shape. I use to be 180 a year ago, with stress I now weigh 146 (lost in a bad way). I now have hanging flesh (nasty) am looking for someone to check on me, via spark page,spark mail, here in forum. What I mean by check on is ask me if I did my exercises, or advice me (give me your opinion on how I can improve, or substitute meals) I of course will do the same.

Hi, all--

My name is Megan, and I'm a 44 year-old freelance writer and editor who lives in Northern California. My work is pretty sedentary, I have a herniated disk in my lower back, and I take medication that is known to cause weight gain. I'm also a compulsive overeater in recovery with Overeaters Anonymous. All of this makes losing weight quite a challenge!

I've had some success recently by combining Jorge Cruise's Belly Fat Diet (I've cut way back on carbs and increased my protein intake) with a 23-day exercise streak. Still, I have a long way to go. My goal is to lose 56 pounds by the end of July 2014.

I'm looking for someone who can help keep me on-track with my plan to increase the amount of time and intensity with which I exercise.

Hi,

My name is Rachel. I've been struggling with my weight my entire life but in the past six months I have gained over one hundred pounds. I didn't realize how out of control my weight was until I started have chest pains and difficulty breathing. My doctor told me that if I continued on the path I was heading I would for sure be diabetic and could develope many other health problems as well. I am more deteremined to lose weight then ever before and this time I'm doing it right. No diet pills or starving myself. Just healthy eating and exercise. I found that doing thirty day challenges has been working really well for me. I do several different thirty day challenges every day. I also do cardio and strength training everyday. I use to dread exercising but now I actually look forward to it. I have been trying to keep my calories as close to 1200 as possible but I have realized by doing this I am neglecting to get enough servings of vegetables and fruits and I plan to make some changes soon. I also enjoy keeping track of my steps and going for walks in the woods.

Hi my name is Katie. I am following the Maker's diet resolution and the Maker's diet
I began my heaviest weight at 250 pounds. I am currently 185 pounds.
I set small goals of losing 5 pound a month to make a realistic and reachable.

I want to keep eating healthy more fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and less meat.

I drink 100 ounces of water

my biggest thing is working out consistently 6 days a week for 30 minuets

Hiya! I'm Petal. I'm tracking calories and trying to amp up protein and fiber to keep me full. I'm also working to try and get in more vegetables in ways that make me happy to eat them. My weight loss goal for the year is to lose 24 pounds, but being healthier in general would make me happy, weight loss or no. I started 1/1 at about 234, so 210 is my goal. That's smaller than I've been since college! (a mere 2-8 years ago, depending who you ask). The end.
About me being a person: I'm 32, an accountant (aka weirdo--in the best of ways). I love accents (linguistics hobby), reading (AJ Jacobs, Mary Roach, Jasper Fforde and Neil Gaiman are some favorite authors), being outside, and music (anything with a good beat).
