Hi, Team! My name is Karyn, I restarted with SparkPeople the end of March. I received a letter from the doctor regarding recent blood work - make an appointment blood sugar and triglicerides are out of control - time for insulin. The same day we found out we will be grandparents again in August (our only grandchild will be 27 in July)! So I called and made an appointment for late April and logged on. I have been doing my best, but my lowest blood sugar was today at 158. I ordered/downloaded the book today - decided it was time to get serious.

ordered the book today but have a copy from library Starting on sunday . Have a lot going on this week and really want to write by hand menus.
Give myself a head start and truly stay on this for 6 weeks and it will kind of follow lent.

I'm making the One-dish: roasted chicken and vegetables for the first time right now. It smells so good. I followed the recipe to a T but I'm wanting to do it in the crock pot next time. Has anyone tried that?

Hello and an early Happy New Year to all!!

I'm Robbie. There's quite a bit of info about me on my SparkPage, so I won't go into too much detail here.

I take daily medication for Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and Cholesterol. I had open heart surgery in May of 2012. I have completely recovered and do my Phase 3 Cardiac Rehab twice a week with a personal trainer and all in all feel pretty doggone good!!

As with many, my problem isn't knowing what to do - it's doing what I know!! But usually, having someone to hold me accountable and to provide motivation is a big help. I hope and expect that will be the case with the various teams!!

Thanks in advance for any and all help, guidance, motivation, tips/ideas, etc.

Hi, Im April and Im looking to get into better shape, lose about 20 lbs, and become more physically active. I work full-time at a desk and am a full-time student as well so I sit ALL DAY. I dont have any health concerns or major issues but I have a lot of heart disease and diabetes in my family and I would like to avoid those.

Right now Im concentrating on the 30 Day Fit Food Challenge but once thats completed I plan to do the Spark Solution program.

Good morning everyone! My name is Tina and I am a SP for 55 days, I am coming to SP about 1/2 way into my total projected loss. I have lost 169 pounds as of this morning, I began my journey in June 2010, and came to Spark via a magazine article. I am at the infant stages of fitness education and only began exercising since joining. I was very ill in 2011 and was not on a regime, was in a wheel chair 8 months, moved to walker, now cane, and eventually hope to walk without assistance. Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie, and I'm on a journey to lose 160 pounds. I have a very long road ahead of me, and I would love to make some new friends so we can encourage each other. I was here a couple of months ago, but I've been struggling a lot, so I've been absent from SP for awhile, trying to wrap my head around getting this weight off and making a true commitment. Having so much to lose is pretty overwhelming, but I'm determined to take it one day at a time. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

I just bought the book tonight at Barnes and Noble and hoping that something works in what seems like an endless battle to lose weight. I am very motivated by the beginning which I read. I need to lose 40 lbs or so. Maybe not as much but even 20 would make a big difference for me. It was the thought that I either buy this book or waste my money buying clothes a size bigger because I am not fitting my clothes anymore. I decided to buy the book and give it a try.

It is a great site. I like it because you can interact with other members easily. Also, taracking food and exercise is easy. You might consider buying the new tracker. I love mine and it lets me know how many steps I've done. I make a game out of it. Good luck and emoticon

Hi! My name is Deb. I purchased the e-book and have started reading it. I have bounced back and forth between weight watchers ,fitness pal, and sparkpeople for the last 2-3yrs. Weight watchers does not seem to work for me anymore and fitness pal just doesn't seem to have a lot of resource at one website. Sparkpeople seem to have lots of resource and I like their philosophy about weight loss and healthy living and making it a lifestyle. I use the trackers now and those alone have helped me realize a lot about how I eat. Am excited about the book and the challenge of making healthy lifestyle changes!

emoticon Hi everyone! I am reading the book now and plan to start on Saturday. I've been reorganizing my kitchen this week and will shop tomorrow. I want to start right and follow through without excuses.

I've been doing Sparks since January and have only lost a pound. Sparks has kept me from getting discouraged and I have met other goals. I am much more fit than when I started. I have more energy and I am sleeping better. I am diabetic and my blood sugar has been stable.

Hi, my name is Mari (Mary). I ordered the Spark Solution on tues and am to recieve it by Monday. I am excited as I have been struggling. Was with a team, but it has about dwindled down to nothing. I bought the Spark Solution on Barnes & Noble.com, downloaded the enhanced version onto my Nook.
I know have a Spark tool to take with me everywhere. I've only about 25 pages into the book, read it while on my treadmill this afternoon.
I'm so glad to be back with SP... the maintenance is the issue I've had... now feeling really bad about putting some of the lost weight back on but so glad to be back on the journey of a new life again.

emoticon ....I finished 2 weeks a couple of days ago. I lost around 4 lbs. Happy with how I feel and the energy I have. Into Week 3 and feeling motivated still. Wishing you the same and continued success.

I am down 5 pounds after 2 weeks. I did not follow the diet precisely, but made some substitutions on the menu, plus increased my activity. I am feeling very hopeful.

Hi! My names is Kim...I downloaded my Spark Solution book about a month ago and didn't realize I could still get my points or that their was even a spark team. I've been reading the book as much as I can. I am super excited about it. My overall goal is to lose 33 lbs and so far I have lost 2 in 1 week. I'm excited to see the results once I start my two week program after reading the book. For now, I am making baby steps!

So I bought the ebook of Spark solution today. I just started reading it and I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Amanda. I have struggled with my weight for many years. I recently; lost 100 pounds and than slacked off a bit and gain back 26 pounds. I am here to start again and am glad to see Sparkpeople has this wonderful book as my motivation went way down after many days in the hospital due to my seizure disorder. Anyways here I am and hope to meet many wonderful people.

Welcome Lin - I think it's great your reading the whole book before you start. It's a lot to absorb. This way you can make the adjustment you need to for your situation. I read it on vacation and made a plan for meals and exercise. The minute I got home I started and now on day 11 and living it! Good luck - emoticon

Hi: I thought I had written on this topic in the Forum but don't see anything so I hope I'm not repeating myself!

I bought Spark Solution and I've been reading. There is so much to do in the summer that it's taking me longer than I thought it would. I don't know if I'll be able to stick to the meal plans. I'll have to see the alternates when I get that far in the book. I'm diabetic and have a heart condition so a lot of the foods listed are probably really good for me. I have Crohn's however with a lot of allergies and a lot of "good" foods hurt after I eat them so they are to be avoided. It is usually hard to find a balance for all 3! Because of my low heart function, I'm limited in my physical activity so I will have to carefully review the exercises as well. Even if I can't do those there are lots of valuable tips and information in the book and it will not be a waste as I muddle along on my own.

I've been trying my hand at blogging. I wrote one yesterday called "Non-exercise Activity Thermogenesis Exercise or Not?" (thermogensis is a term for activity in Spark Solution). A few of the forums I've been in have a topic similar to "What Do You Count as Exercise/What Do You Do for Exercise" etc. I find a lot of the articles promoted and comments by members don't take into account those of us with disabilities who are not , and cannot be, as physically active as others so I expressed my own thoughts. Today I wrote one called "Why I Need to Be My Own Cheerleader and We All Need the Encouragement We Get From Fellow SparkPeople." Just my thoughts on 2 topics.

wife and I restarted again after getting side tracked by out of town trip. We went ahead and started 7/10 as day one rather than waiting until monday to start. We swap some menu stuff but seem to be able to stay within guidelines. I have my own fitness program and wife is using 28 day boot camp.

I got the book and have read most of it. Yesterday I got the 2 dvds and started the 10 minutes a day "Fit, Firm & Fired Up" one.

I just ordered the book from online, and I even upped the shipping level a little, so I will get it a little sooner. I'm SO EXCITED - I can't wait!

I'm Holly, I've been using SparkPeople on and off for several years, and recently (just a few days ago, in fact) I recommitted myself to improving my health and fitness level. I started tracking my food a few days ago, and slightly increasing my activity level, and I want to make sure that I really KEEP working on it and don't just "run out of gas"!

I had been on SparkPeople.com off and on previously, so I figured there must be a group for those of us who have purchased and red The Spark Solution. And here you are!

Hello Team!

I just ordered my copy of The Spark Solution today and I'm starting back up on my journey (I joined Sparkpeople in 2010 and after needing my Gall Bladder removed, stopped following my new healthy habits.)

I'm a little worried about sticking with it. The first time I started this journey I was really gun-ho but I was a stay at home mom with a lot of time on my hands to enter foods into the tracker and able to exercise whenever I finally worked up the desire to do so. Not so much now. Now I'm going to have to schedule my workouts around work, hobbies, and a daughter who is starting school.

It's kinda worrisome. I know I need to be living healthier because I don't want to leave my family before "my time" ... I also want to look good too (who doesn't want that?!?) I work in a small office and the ladies in my office are all trim and good looking young women... I'm the only one who isn't at a healthy weight and I really want to change that - for the right reasons and for my own vanity (as sad as that is to say.)

Anyway - I wanted to say hello and hope that maybe by participating I'll feel more compelled to come on here tomorrow and track my exercise and food like a good sparker!

Got the book and now on the second day. Food is easy and getting in the exercise. I am an emotional eater so have to work on the psychology of all of this. I do better being on a challenge like this. Good luck to everyone.

I bought the book last month and never really started. Just got back from vacation and of course overate. emoticon Read most of the book plus Wheat Belly - made a plan on the plane ride home and started this evening. Sort of weird time to start but no better time than the present. Did grocery shopping, went to the gym and had a healthy dinner. Can't wait for tomorrow.

I have read through most of my book! Love the concept. I decided to start tomorrow, my original date to start was the 7th. NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT! I have been using the meals as more of a guide, too. I go through the nutrition track before dinner and make sure I finish up in range. I am down 5lbs. emoticon

Day 8: First day of week 2. I weighed this morning. emoticon I lost 2 & 1/2 pounds this week. WooHoo! Welcome to those of you who are just starting. It IS a lot of work, but after watching what my husband has gone through following heart attacks, this isn't nearly as hard I decided. By the beginning of this week I realized that I have quite a bit of food from last week that needs used, so I'm using the meals as a guide, but substituting things I already have. Much easier on my budget! I did have the curried tuna salad today and it was fantastic - just as good as full fat fancy chicken salad I have had at showers and such! Hope you all do well! Purchased the Book Yesterday on my NOOK....Reading and finding it very motivational and educational. Planning on a full force follow plan on Sunday July 7th. My family is being very supportive at the moment. I too have been with WW for years and had some success with the program, but feel Spark people may be a better fit for me and It's FREE!

I can't wait to start my adventure and am hoping the site will provide lots of support...

emoticon Hi, I am new to the team. I have been on SP several years and just seem to yo yo. I am attending Weight Watchers and am paying and not getting anywhere. So when I looked into Spark Solutions, I thought it would be a good new start emoticon

I ordered my book on Amazon and should get it tomorrow, and am anxious to get started and be accountable. Will probably review it over the week end and start on Monday! Isn't Monday the day we always start our new diets ; - ) Glad for this new start and upcoming success emoticon emoticon
