Rose created this team out of pure love, so I am very honored to be a part of it.
My home is very special to my family and I. The house I live in was actually the first building in the village where I live. It was originally a saw mill. In 1832 it became a house for the Rail Road (George Pullman) families--it was their summer home. On January 1, 1910, a member of my family bought this house. And, as you can figure out, this house has been in my family for over 100 years. Needless to say, it is full of history for me.
My kitchen is very large. One side is strictly the cooking area and the other side is for eating and visiting. This room is where we all spend a lot of our time together. My kitchen table is very old--it has a gray & white enamel top--a 1910 popular table.
I have an old vintage pattern wall paper which makes the old farmhouse kitchen really have character. My cupboards and trim are white. You will find old glass milk bottles, enamel pans, an 1800's rug beater, antique bottles & cooking utensils. Oh, and I cannot forget my collection of hens, chicks and roosters plus sunflowers. I love my kitchen it is my favorite room.
My Grandmother learned to make cookies, pies, cakes, etc. on my old 1910 table when she came to this country. My Mum, myself and my children have as well. And I cannot forget to mention my husband, nieces and nephew also learned too. When I look at my kitchen table I cannot help but feel lots of love.
My den is filled with books that where my Mum's. All old classics. At night, I read to my children from one of my Mum's books. There is an over-size big sofa, a love seat and a great rocking chair if you'd like to sit down and listen to the story. We have lots of windows in this room--top to bottom in length. The color of the room is a warm yellow with one accent wall in a warm scarlet. This room has lots of plants, flowers and candles. And you will find a large antiques map of the world, an original oil painting and our treasures from China, Japan and Korea.
My dining room is small but very warm and inviting. The carved, cherry fire place mantle gives it an old, 1900's feelings. I have all my Grandmother's and Mum's hand-made dollies and table clothes in my dining room. On the walls you will find a beautiful old mirror my Grandfather made, my Grandparent's Marriage Certificate, my Mum's favorite picture of the French potato farmers, a very old copy of Michael Angelo's Last Supper and my Mum's wedding picture. There are flowers and plants everywhere in my dining room. My dishes are my Grandmother's--they are white with 24 karate gold trim and in the end are soft pink and rose-colored roses with baby breathe and soft green leaves. My table cloth is hand-made lace by my Mum.
Our siting room has cherry furniture. There is a large sofa, one over-stuffed easy chair and a recliner, all in sage green. My cover for the sofa and the pillows have bright colors of lavender, teal blue and lime green. The picture on the wall are from my Grandmother, Mum and my own. Also, I have a tapestry from China hanging too.
This is where we all watch TV and where our computer is. Our siting room is the second most used room in our house.
