My name is Evelyn. I am a child of God who loves the Lord, enjoys living by a large bodies of water (Lake Superior and the Gulf of Mexico). I am working diligently to maintain a 100-lb weight loss Ė a process that took me a little over five years to complete (May 30, 2005 - July 14, 2011) while averaging the loss of a little more than a third of a pound a week.
The Joy part of my name reflects the fruit of the Spirit that I try to emulate with the way I lead by example with one of my favorite passages from the Apostle Paul, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is Godís will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thes 5:16-18). I love to be in dialog with my Lord through prayer: I knit prayer shawls for my Wisconsin church and knit prayer lap ropes for my SW Florida church. With the comforter (Holy Spirit), my faith becomes an active verb that reflects my love for the Lord and all that He has done for me.
- Ephesians 2:10: For we are Godís handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- 1 Timothy 6: 18 [Charge them] to do good, to be rich in good works, to be liberal and generous of heart, ready to share [with others],
I continue to track daily, set vigorous, God-honoring goals, and am loving the change of pace that retirement allows me to enjoy.
