To Wander - I, too, took Jurisprudence, however I had a great professor (a former police officer), and so, I was basically ready to hit the ground running just over six years ago.

All will be OK. Follow the advice of the other attorneys in this group.

I am in central Ohio.

Yours,
Ann

I went to a top 25 school where Jurisprudence is still a required course. Needless to say, I learned nothing. Now that I'm in-house, my training is basically me Googling "how to..." and appearing before judges while shaking in my heels. It's pretty scary. My superiors are usually unenthusiastic to help me.

I am cold, though Chicago is not as bad this winter. (Yay global warming!) Where are you practicing? What do you practice?

I also feel like I learned next to nothing in law school. I went to college in Chicago where I lived for a long time. You must be cold!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm in Illinois. Desertmoth, thanks for the pep talk. I somehow bypassed working at a firm, and I landed an in-house position. I definitely feel as if I learned nothing in law school!

What does everyone practice?

Best,
Wander

Welcome. I was a new attorney once upon a time. Just stay true to yourself and soak up as much knowledge as you can now. Eventually you will find your groove in law and here! If you ever want more advice info etc., feel free to message me. I was a public defender in Los Angeles. Now I have my own practice. Good luck!

Hi Sparkers,

I just passed the bar exam this past summer, and I am practicing in-house. I've been sparking on and off for about 5 years now, but this time things are different.

When I weigh in, I will not look. My husband will track my progress and only deliver the amount lost every month or so to make sure things are headed in the right direction. I'm trying to give that dreaded number on the scale less power. I'm very slowly easing into a workout routine.

I'm looking for some Spark people friends who lead a similar life- I'm a young professional without children. Any one else out there like me?
