Hi! My name is Pattie. I've been around Spark for about 3 years, but was away for one of them, which proved to NOT be a very wise idea. I came back at the end of June and am now down nearly 17 pounds. I'm praying that continues!

I have a lot of hobbies, but mainly knitting and reading my kindle. The knitting will last as long as my hands will let me. And, of course those are worked around my walking, bouncing and bike riding now. That side of my life is new to me.

You can learn more about me by visiting my page and maybe reading some of my blogs. And I'll be here chatting some, too.

My personal opinion is that one of the best ways to loose is by tracking all what you eat. No chance for error there.

Hi, My name is Cheri and I am so happy to have found this team. I am using the spark nutrition tracker to keep track of the amount of calories I consume each day. At the moment I am 7 months pregnant so my main goal is to maintain because I have already gained over 35lbs this pregnancy already being overweight when I got pregnant. So far I have stuck with it. I am also walking whenever and wherever I can aiming for 10 plus minutes of exercise a day.

By 10/31/13 be under 200lbs

11/28/13 be under 190lbs

12/25/13 be under 180lbs

2/14/14 be under 165lbs

3/17/14 be under 155lbs

4/20/14 be under 145lbs

5/11/14 be under 140lbs

6/15/14 be under 130lbs

7/4/14 be under 125lbs

8/29/14 be at goal weight 115lbs

Hi, I'm Rita and I'm new to Calorie Watchers 'R Us but not to sparkpeople although I've been away from sparkpeople for a while. I have lost 24 pounds since the beginning of March and I have a whole lot more to go. I'm happy with my weight loss so far because, by taking it slowly, I know those pounds are gone forever.

I have been doing Canadian Calorie Counters since March, figuring that, if I had to pay money that I might take the weight loss more seriously and that is definitely working. I find though, that a week between meetings can sometimes be a bit too long. Some weeks I find myself craving fast food ( which was never really a big part of my diet to start with) by Sunday or Monday when weigh in isn't until Wednesday morning.

I'm hoping by having an online group as well as the face to face group will help me with some of these cravings. I'm also hoping to see some yummy calorie-wise recipes that are not filled with sugar-substitutes but rather are made from regular, natural foods.

Hi! my name is Robin. I'm 34, married with 3 children (6,4 and 4 months). I have been pretty much yo-yo dieting most of my life. I started gaining weight in my teens, continued gaining in college and it wasn't until I wanted to join the Air Force that I truly started realized how out of control my weight was. It was a shock back to reality when an AF recruiter told me I was too fat to join the Air Force...but he was right, I WAS too fat. I started working out and eating better and got down to the required weight to join. Then my weight started creeping back on and I was put on the weight program until I eventually left the AF. I started having children, gaining more and more weight with each one and never losing it after they were born. I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes with my last child and I decided it was time for a change. He was born in November and I have been slowly working on losing all of this excess baggage!! I look forward to this journey with all of you!!!

Hi Team,
My name is bobbi and I have been on sparks for awhile but I left for a few days,
but missed all my friends here and so I came back and now I am trying to find me some
new teams for a new me lol...last time I started sparks I was weighing in @ 400 lbs and now
I put my new weight up it is 360 lbs so for 2013 and this is my year to do this right.

Thanks for the SparkGoodie & warm welcomes on my page!
I'm Tamara! And after being stubborn & being stopped by one plateau after another in my journey to get as close to my pre-twin pregnancy weight (from almost 7 years ago), I finally gained control of my eating habits & counting calories & tracking my calories eaten versus calories burnt has already helped me lose 12 lbs since the New Year started! WooHoo!! I never thought I'd get my insatiable appetite & sweet tooth under control, but so far, so good! And the best part is that I'm loving my new eating choices & not feeling deprived. Finally feeling like I'm giving my body the proper fuel to push through my preferred intense workouts that always involve lots of strength training. Even though I've been told many times that I may not return to my pre-twin weight now that I've built muscle (I've never been athletic until now & didn't lift weights until 2009). I originally started my weight loss at the end of 2008 & I've lost 52 lbs...if I could lose this last 12 lbs, it would be mission completion!!! Any advice or comments would be most welcome! Thanks again to my newest team members!! May we all Succeed!! emoticon emoticon

I am 37 years old and have twin boys who are 5 and in grade K
I have had weight issues since childhood.

emoticon emoticon !! I'm so glad you're here with us!!! I know what you mean about the age thing ... how did we get here!? LOL!!! Those years sneak right up on us!

I know for me that it was easier to get in the groove with one thing at a time. You've decided to start with food first and then exercise. That works! I tried both at the same time and for the life of me, I lost it every day with the food piece, but I kept going with the exercise part. Finally, it all came together. We're works in progress, that's for certain!

I'm soooooo glad you're here! ... And there will be another challenge for you to join in!!! We'll look forward to you being a part! And if being part of the Valentine's Day Challenge will help you, you are more than welcome to join in just for the 5 fruits/veggies piece. Just let me know if you need to be added to a team!

Good Morning, Ladies!

I'm Rainbow, married, two dogs and will be 47 next month (when did THAT happen?!). I've been working hard on tracking my calories for about three weeks now and have been successful at getting rid of 8 pounds. For some reason I'm finding it harder to find my groove this time around and getting in my fruits and veggies is really posing a challenge. I'm currently not exercising but plan to start again soon so I won't be able to join in the Valentine's Day Challenge but maybe the next one. Right now the Weekly Challenge looks perfect for me so I think I'll start there. I'm looking forward to being part of the group and wish every one success!

I'd like to join the Valentine's Day challenge. Please assign me to one.

I take care of a 3 year old granddaughter from Mo to Fri from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, in my care is my elderly mom living with me with dementia in its first stage, plus my brother has just lost one of his kidneys by a surprising malformation he had and didn't know. That being said, I'll try hard to keep up dated with all of you. I do daily exercise 6 days a week in order to keep myself sane. But emotionally eating kills me. Just a little personal info.

A lot of the chat goes on in our 2013 Chat thread so you'll find us there talking about most anything.

We have a Valentine's Day Challenge going on now where we have 2 teams. The goal is to get 5 fruits/veggies in each day, do 20 minutes of cardio, and 15 minutes of strength training. You earn 5 points if you do any of these. You have the opportunity to earn 15 points for your team each day. If you'd like to join a team and encourage yourself to exercise and eat healthy, let me know and I'll assign you to a team.

We have a couple of 10% weight loss challenge threads ... one is a really long form, one is a short form. You may want to track your weight loss there. Or because you just have a little to lose, you may want to post on the Weigh-In thread.

We have our Team Goals on the front page of the team. We look at those mid-month and celebrate the folks who are making an effort to achieve them.

We select a team mate of the week. This is the person who is posting, being supportive, facing the journey with courage, etc.

We have a birthday thread. We love to celebrate birthdays with goodies and folks stopping by your page to wish you a happy birthday.

Hi,
I'm Patricia, from Costa Rica. I need to loose at least 10 lbs to try to lower my cholesterol levels before starting any medication. I'm 54. I've been around SP for quite a while, went down to my goal weight, only to start gaining it back slowly. Haven't regain it all yet though. As most of us, I've always had trouble with my weight, especially when it comes to maintenance. Truthfully, I've never liked the calorie tracker though I know how effective it is, but I'm willing to give it a try.

I'll try to learn what you are doing here during this weekend. Anything I need to know, I'd appreciate your telling me. Thanks!

Hello, all..my name is Gayla and I have been with sparkpeople since 1-1-2012 and I am still going. I started my journey at 257 pounds and git down to 226 pounds around June only to lose control and gain weight back. However I did not quit. I kept on logging into sp everyday, trying to walk but the food got me. Well this is my year. I have been logging my food and doing some strength training and walking. I know I will do this. I look forward to making new friends and supporting others in their journies.

emoticon DerbyGirl!!!! I'm so glad you've joined us!!! I can tell you this, it helps me to post here! I can exercise without fail, but sticking to my calories was always my short coming. I've finally got a little trick I'm working on that is making things easier. (I'm having a snack, usually 200 calories worth of popcorn when I get home which allows me to post-pone supper so I don't have time to graze through the evening ... my worst bad habit!).

Post when you get in trouble, add your personal challenge thread for the week ... where you decide what your challenge is for the week then go back and post each day to let us know how you did so we can support you. Use the team to your benefit! We're here for you!!!

My name is Janel... I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, recently moved back here after 8 years in Colorado. Both Hubby's Mom and my Mom and Sis are in nursing homes in New Mexico and just too far from Colorado, so since so close to retirement it is back to Home to retire. I work for the school's here as a Bookkeeper/Admin Assistant, a much slower pace than I am use to but... all the better to ease into retirement. I have lost weight on every program out there.... trust me I have .....and of course have gained it all back....... Plus! I am ready to get my health in order with the help of my Spark friends. I make jewelry, stained glass, fusion glass in my spare time. Really???? What spare time....well maybe more once retirement arrives. I Look forward to getting to know everyone on this wonderful small team.

Hi Myrna, and welcome!! I used to go to weight watchers too, and had a hard time adjusting to the points+, well, it just seemed like too many steps, so i started using SP exclusively. Well, I started tracking my food religiously on Sept. 1 and I am having good success with it. I was only going to do it until I got back to my weight where I could go to WW for free, but I realize now I don't really want or need to go back to WW. I'm curious about their new program though. But for me, if it isn't broken, then don't fix it. I think WW is great and different people just need different things at different times.

emoticon Ok...here goes. I'm Myrna and I'm new to the team but not to Sparkpeople. I've been a member since Dec 26, 2006. I began actively sparking over 3 years and, between using Sparkpeople and Weight Watchers, I lost almost 40 pounds, reached my goal weight, and became a Lifetime WW member. When WW switched to Points Plus, I found that it didn't work for me as well as the Points plan did. During the last year I've gained back about 9 pounds and I haven't been able to get it off.

I've returned to Sparkpeople and calorie counting and found that I probably wasn't eating enough calories in order to stay within my daily WW Points + allowance. I'm still going to WW, but I'm not sure if I'll continue.

I know what to do using Sparkpeople, now it's just a matter of doing it. I'm glad to be part of this team.
