Hello! I'm Suzy - I am a fan of JJ Virgin and a complete believer in her program! That said, I have been giving in to the siren song of the wine, cheese, crackers and pizza food groups, and as we all know, those aren't so hot for weight loss. I have an event to attend in October and I MUST drop some weight. May I join you all to stay on track doing that?

I love the Virgin diet meals - that isn't the problem. I just like other stuff TOO. Looking forward to talking with all of you! Have a good night -

Suzy

It has been my experience, that if I drink my water and stay hydrated, I don't get hungry between meals... That being said, if you're still hungry, 6 or 8 raw almonds will satisfy and hold you over until your next meal.

I have read the book and know the 2shakes and the components of dinner, my only question, if you get hungry can you have a snack? What are the best options for a snack?

Hi INWASHINGTON...

My advice would be to set yourself up for success... Get the book, read it cover to cover and then follow it 100%... The plan works!!!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Best of luck to you!!! ~ Blessings ~ Hen

Hi Fee!!! Welcome!!! Great idea, combining giving up the 7 Hi Fi Foods with Lent.

I tried sending you a Welcome Goodie, but your page being set to private, wouldn't allow it, so I guess this will have to do.

Best of luck.

Hi!
I am new to the virgin diet and excited to give this a try. I am starting tomorrow and plan to be on Cycle 1 through Easter. I am giving up the 7 foods for Lent to truly committ myself to the plan.
I know I have an intolerance to dairy and this fall I had a nasty reaction to the flu shot (which contained egg), and I avoid soy because of an intolerance.
I am glad there is a group here! I will be following the weight loss plan for three weeks starting tomorrow.

Hello. I am new to the Virgin diet program. I am on day 4 and doing pretty well. I recently lost my job so I am using this opportunity to eat better, feel better, and hopefully get healthier and lose a few pounds along the way. Now that I am not around all of the junk and snack food at the office I hope I can succeed at this healthier lifestyle. I appreciate everyone's input and suggestions. emoticon

The label does says laxative but it works mechanically by adding bulk not chemically causing cramps or ugent need to go. It acts like a broom and is basically the same as metamucil without all the added junk. I also alternately take a spoon of ground flax seed--it has the same gelling action.

I did some research and I guess that product is a form of laxative. I'm a little nervous about taking it so I think I'll hold off for now.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I found 1 bar today from GoMacro called Sweet Rejuvenation in Cashew Butter. It fits all the criteria except 1 bar had 9g of sugar. I figured if I eat half of it then it will be ok as a snack on the go. I also found some brown rice wraps at a natural grocer near me.

I'm not familiar with what you take with water for hunger...is that a pill supplement?

Hi PerezMom,Welcome to the team! emoticon I usually carry pistacios or walnuts in my bag for emergency purposes only...I try not to snack in between meals. I have found that there are no processed quick fixes with this diet. Its whole foods all the way.... I focus on drinking water on the timetable JJ. has in the book... making sure my 3 meals match the plate and ...& to quell hunger pangs I often take konsyl psyllium and water an hour b4 eating.

I am new to this forum and also to the Virgin Diet! I am a 36yr old SAHM and am hoping this diet will help give me more energy, lose the baby weight and solve some digestive problems I have. I have been following it 99% the last 2 weeks to get in the habit of changing the way I eat. I plan on doing the 21 days in March after I come back from vacation. I have been drinking the shakes in the morning and cooking both lunch and dinner. I struggle a little when I go out because I always feel sick after - not because I don't make healthy choices but I think somehow I'm not good at weeding out the hidden High-FI foods when eating out. I have already lost 5lbs and am looking forward to being healthier and thinner soon! My biggest struggle is finding on-the-go foods that meet the criteria...I spent hours in the grocery store trying to find a snack bar with no luck. Also I can't find brown rice wraps anywhere - is it possible to find products like these online somewhere?

My mantra: "Food is fuel. I control my body and I choose how to nourish it."

LMDR ~ Glad to hear things are going better for you, and that you've added protein shakes or smoothies to your arsenal... They really help me stay on track, and keep me satisfied.

The first protein powder I tried was AboutTime Vegan chocolate protein powder. I found it at GNC. I am currently trying the Virgin Diet Chocolate protein powder, which really helps satiate my chocolate cravings.

Thanks, things are definitely on the upswing. I am not going crazy for my old eating habits. My mantra, this is a life style change for the better. I am doing the shakes, I actually bought the Virgin Diet protein powder, it is very good and helps with my chocolate addiction.

LMDR67 ~ Welcome to the team!!! Sorry to hear that you're still struggling with your former snack favorites calling your name... I'm happy to say, I never had an issue with that, but then, my Protein Green Smoothies, really kept me satisfied, from one meal to another... Make sure you're getting adequate healthy fats and protein in your diet, as they will help satiate your hunger.

ARLOGUTHRIE ~ Thank you for your kind words and great tips for using the forum, and Spark, in general.

Hi I am new to spark too, also I am on day 15, I basically signed up for the community, as I track my food using an app.

Happy Hen has been very helpful but so far the message boards for this team have not been particularly lively, I would suggest searching the boards for something that interests you and post a reply, this way everyone who has checked the box that says" I want an email to be sent to me when anyone replies to this topic" will get an email and hopefully that will rekindle interest in the topic.
There are a lot of other teams that cover other interests...for example. I found one for spark members who were also knitters.
I am not suffering from cravings so much as just feeling hungry...4-6 hours between meals is not what I have been used to...but it certainly makes planning what you are going to eat a lot easier when you only have to do it 3x a day.
What kind of protein powder are you using?

Hello all. I am new to spark and the Virgin Diet Forum. Still trying to figure out how to participate in the group.

I started the program on Thursday the 9th of January. So far I have lost weight, but still having the cravings for my old snack foods. Haven't given in to them though it has been difficult.

Just would like to know how others got through or felt during the first two weeks.

Hey, no worries I am new too this site as well. It has a lot to offer, just keep clicking and you will find all sorts of great things. Yesterday I found out about a cool site, called ravelry for knitters, just by perusing a profile of someone who had posted on a board.

How are you doing with the the first week? Has it been a big change from the way your were eating before. For me it is a challenge to go without eggs and cheese, not because of cravings but because they keep me satisfied for a long time. Cheese stick was what I always carried on the go...now i keep a little container of walnuts...I had it in my purse all week and finally needed it this morning,
after my husband got on a plane my daughter and i wanted to go peruse the goodwill store. I charged up with the nuts so I wouldn't go nutz.

Welcome to the team MemeRocks!!! I was going to send you an official Welcome Goodie, but noticed your page is set to private, so I couldn't... If you have any questions about the lifestyle, just ask away, and we'll try to help out in any way we can... There are several who are just starting the plan, and some of us who are re-doing cycle 1, so you're in good company.

Hello everyone,

I'm new to it all. I'll try to make this short. My journey to follow the Virgin diet was a long and sometimes painful one, but I hope that is all about to change.

Two years ago I found out I had lymphoma. When my husband and I heard those first words, it was as though all the oxygen was sucked out of the room. We felt as though we had no room in to breath. We walked out of the doctor's office like zombies.

It took two years of on again off again chemo treatments and surgeries, but here we are at the longest remissions since this all began. Hoping this time its done. Anyhow, in the midst of all this fun, I just found out that I also have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Why not? Right?

I started to read JJ Virgin's book, and it made sense. I also remembered a friend telling me about Sparks People and how this site has helped her through a lot. So here I am... HELP!!!

I've tried all sorts of diets, losing tons of weight and gaining it back and than some. The one thing I never tried was doing it on this site with all the wonder people and support. So here we go....

Thank you for listening...
