Hello!

I joined this challenge today to help motivate me to learn more healthy habits. I do not like 'diets' and do not want to feel like I am starving while trying to lose weight (especially when it isn't working anyhow!). I have been working on tracking calories for the last month with very little movement on the scale. I know it's because I am trying to stick to low calories and at least once a week end up binge eating something I'm craving because I feel so hungry! I'm tired of the up and down swings. I want to learn how to eat to feel full and also healthy at the same time.

Hi, I'm new to this challenge and really hope it'll keep me motivated.
I had success with weightloss before but it seems I dropped the ball in the last two years and the pounds've crept on. I aim to reverse this process by re-introducing healthy eating habits, most importantly portion control. I'm not fan of fatfree, artificially sweetened or otherwise modified foods, so I just have to re-learn how much is enough.

This challenge seems to guide me to the right direction so, lets start week one.

Hello,
My name is Janet, trying to fulfill two challenges by the end of September. Challenges are TRULY a challenge for me because I cannot stand spending a lot of time on the computer to track things and read articles etcetera. I am one of those who can go days without checking my emails or social media and Spark seems to be most effective with daily check-ins and interaction. I need a program that works with less regular interaction, like maybe weekly check ins; but then I can't meet criteria for most challenges can I?. I simply don't have the patience to spend an hour or more every day on one website. So much good info but so little time or patience!
The hardest part for me in this world of weight loss and lifestyle change is that I cannot stay focused on tracking meals for more than a day! It takes too much time and effort to find all the details of every little teaspoon of mustard or slice of tomato I ingest. I am pretty healthy internally: ie good blood work stats, but I am overweight and often lazy. I lack energy many days. Diabetes and Heart Disease, run in my family and I have done well to keep the potential for either, far at bay!
I have the best success by being aware of what I eat; and portion control has taken me far. My best prescription for weight loss involves activity. So I take my dong walking almost every day. This will help me shed a few pounds, but I would like to really drop the thirty or so extra pounds I have been carrying around for 10 years or longer. To do so, will involve more intensive workouts. I am trying to add activity on a weekly basis, and be more accountable for times when I don't feel like sticking to a plan of healthy lifestyle choices.
I'm going to try to give Spark a good effort by more regularly checking in, but don't feel bad for me if I disappear now and then.
We will see how this works.

Hello everyone,

I've been on the threads here at Sparkpeople since 2007. I've lost weight (75 pounds), gained some weight (30# or more) and re-losing weight.

March thru May - I thought I'd found my "groove" again and lost 14-15 pounds. This past couple weeks I gained 2# and last week 0.2#. In the past I've let myself continue to slip.

I've joined this team in hopes of re-grouping --- and start to lose again. I have this weird little thought in my head about 280Land --- almost all of my adult live I've lived in 280land --- soemtimes up a little more --- but never lower accept for just a short while a couple times.

So I'm turning things around today -- and heading to 270burg, 260ville, 250.... and so on.

I've been losing fairly consistently but at least once a month, I go "off the wagon". I already posted goals in the other thread, so sorry for the re-run! (I'm a Gemini so maybe I can't help posting twice)

I'm pretty consistent about tracking food & getting 5+ fruit & veggie servings daily, but I'm terrible about skipping meals then getting too hungry & going over calorie range. It happens at least twice a week. I'm still losing, but I'd love to get more consistent at eating regularly so I don't get too hungry, low energy or blow it.

Aiming to eat more veggies, add snacks at even intervals, & stay consistently within range.

Hi, Heather here. Lost 30 pounds a few years back with the help of SP, now they have found me again. Doing a reboot!!!
I love to cook and have been experimenting with new recipes to keep the food boredom away. Still struggling with getting my workout mojo going.

You might need to have snacks that are healthier on a regular basis and a special snack on a special occasion. Good and Plenty should not be an option on a regular basis. Best wishes on your journey.

Im char. Married 5 kids 6 grankids with one on the way. Lost 40's on sparks several years ago the last couple years have gained 2#'s back each year and this christmas i gained 8#'s and cant shake it! I get 45 of cardio about 5 days a week some times more. I eat good counting cals all day but then blow it by getting a snack at night around 8pm. My latest addiction good and plentys. I need a better plan!



Anything worth having is worth working for!

My name is Darlene but like to be called Dar. I live in Tacoma,WA I use to live in Shelton.WA along time ago after my husband had passed away. I have 2 grown daughters and the youngest one lives with my with her husband and their youngest daughter. I try my best to buy some fruit and veggies but it's hard when your youngest daughter and her husband buy junk food. I try to buy healthy food but sometimes I do eat junk food when I crave it but it's not that often. I do exercise everyday but on the weekends that are my rest days but if I go with my daughter to the store I get a little bit in and that is fine with me. I have a lower back problem that I had a long time ago so I go to the doctors to get some pain meds but I take them when I need them.
Thank you for letting me join your team and this way I can get some answers when I need to ask all of you.

Hello I have started back with SP two days ago. I was on SP a year ago and I wasn't that focused but things has changed in my life and I am ready to do what I have to do to live a full healthy lifestyle without excuses. I am taking things one day at a time with God's help. I know its all well. I am ready and excited for this challenge!

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to join this team and challenge and can't wait to learn many new things from all of you. I've been on SP now for several months and enjoy everything about it! SP had really helped change my life! I'm halfway to my weight goal and look forward to reaching my ultimate goal by the end of the year:) I do have some issues I need to work on like reaching my daily intake of protein, carbs, and fat. And learning how to extend the great job I do all week into my weekends! Lord, weekends are hard! All suggestions are welcome!

Hi I am ChaCha and I lost 70lbs in 2010 with SparkPeople, well this and changing to a seasonal local diet along with biking everywhere. I gained it all back after my collision and have been slow to jump back on the horse as they say. I moved to Cali in May just before I was shipped to Liberia with Peace Corps. I was evacuated, and no I never had Ebola, and suffered depression more from my living situation and having no support system than from being evacuated. I sat around watching far too much TV and eating all day. Last month we moved, and it has been awesome. I have found myself climbing out of my slump. I thought I would join this challenge as a way to motivate me to get back into the groove before I leave again in March. I now live on a bike trail and right next to a river. I am so much happier here and have actually made some friends. So here's to motivation and activation. emoticon
