I am single with no children. I have never been married. I have spent the last 20 years battling weight loss. I am finally determined to do something about it. I'm actress but I don't want to limit my roles because of my weight. I want to be a lead actress and I need to change my weight to fit into that category.

Hello. I am a Mom of 3/5 of my children ranging from 22yrs down to 4yrs. My oldest son is making me a Grandma again, my oldest Daughter is graduating High School this May. This is what has made me get up & get moving! After my youngest daughter (4y/o) was born, I never lost the weight and have been fighting it ever since (she refused to nurse).
I started AGAIN to try to loose weigh the 1st of March. I have been using SP for about 2 weeks now and have shown the most improvement since. Even with just the food changes - the logging for accountability, without great effort in the exercise department and drinking more water instead of diet pop (which I have been drinking nearly 20yrs) I have dropped 7lbs already! I am to a point where I am ready to kick the exercise into gear.

i am 54yrs.young,all my kids are grown ,i need to lose over 100lbs.i am not in good health but i am going to give this a try ,put 110% in so if i lose 10% i will still put in 100%.i am only kidding ,but its how i feel .i have tried so many times to lose weight n didnt do it, this time with the help n support of sparkpeople i know i can ,with all of your help n support .

Hello, I am a 56 year old on temporary disability from my job in the field of geriatrics. I also recently fell causing a compression fraction in my right hand and had surgery causing limitations while I go through PT at home. I am on also medication for my disability that causes me to feel sluggish, forgetful, and depressed at times..... and also put on about 50 pounds (YIKES!). I joined Sparks after my husband looked it up. It has the type of options I enjoy...nutrition, food counters, exercise, forums for support, etc. I tend to be a procrastinator so I read the article about Becoming a Morning Person, made my own daily chart for nutrition and another for activities for fitness to ensure I stick to a plan. My goal is to get to 140. I now weigh 188, embarrassingly enough. I have a wonderful husband (my second), a great son (his father is deceased) and daughter-in-law, and two absolutely adorable grandchildren. I do not mind being a Granny, I just do not want to let myself go. I would like to be able to run long distances and ride my all-terrain bike again (which has been sitting for a few years).
How can I be honest with others if I am not honest with myself?

I was born in raised in Washington State, it is beautiful and very wet. When I was kid my mom always made being outside in the rain this crazy fun thing, it wasn't till I was grown that I found out she hated the rain. I have been teaching for the past 20 years, I love it. My children are all grown up and my husband and I are getting used to life without the never ending distraction of their needs and wants. We both have grown..... in mind and girth. Sparks looks like a place that can help me process my weight issues and hopefully discover some new insights.

Hi there. I'm Lauren. I'm 24 and from south Jersey. After my last attempt at weight loss I got down to 150 pounds. Now 3 years later I am up to about 220 pounds and pretty unhappy. I want to get my health under control now so that I don't have a problem in the future. I am getting married next year and want to start a family after that. Hi, my name's Christie, I'm 26 and live in a small town in rural New South Wales, Australia. My town has only 5000 people, so getting hold of good quality fresh food isn't exactly easy!
I work as an accountant at a gold mine, which keeps my brain active at least, now I just have to get my body active too!
I was a member here on Spark a few years ago and managed to lose about 10kg (22lbs), then decided to take a break so I could focus on my study. I know, I know, my health should have been more important and I really do wish I'd have stuck it out! Because now here I am, five or six years down the track and heavier than I was before.
For me, it all about consistency. I've been through this process enough times now to know that I'm perfectly capable of doing all the planning and goal setting etc. but I just struggle to keep myself motivated to keep working on it, even when I can see the results.
I also suffer from PCOS which, amongst other things, essentially makes me pre-diabetic. Hubby and I are wanting to start a family, but it's just not happening right now either, thanks to the hormone imbalances it causes too. My doctor has told me that losing weight could help (even just 10kg) so that is my main motivation right now.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and helping each other through our struggles to acheive our goals!

Hi, my name is Betsy. I live in MA, near Boston. I am entering my 50's and the usual hormonal changes....not fun. I have been fighting weight issues since my freshman year of high school. I have tried soooo many things without success. I work in a large medical facility and discovered this site when one of the physicians recommended it to a patient I was checking out. I am hoping this will help me gain control of my weight, stop the yo-yoing, and that I will learn....I have 3 children (2 in college at this time), 1 grandchild, and a Boston Terrior. I've been on my weight loss mission for about two months now, and I went from 170 to 155. But I just recently hit a plateau, so I'm looking for some extra assistance! My ultimate goal weight is 125, but my current goal weight is 135.

I let the job go but still have to deal with major family issues. What weight control I'd gained, I have over that time lost. My name is Lovely from San Jose, California. I'm in my early 40s. Happily married for many years. Never had problems with my weight until recent years. To my amazement, I had hormonal issues ( I guess..too much stress and not eating healthy combined with bad carbs) which made it very difficult to lose any weight. After eating healthy and exercising, lbs would go up rather than come down. I had given up until I corrected the hormones and noticed an improvement in me without even losing any weight. It wasn't an overnight solution but took a lot of patience. So, I'm finally here and start again and this time going to lose as much weight as I'm able. I know it's a slow process but I'm ready.

I am from Chicago, a scientist, with my husband for 22 yrs and we are enjoying our first child, a son 17 months old. I love to travel domestically or internationally and hike long treks. I have hiked in the Himalayas, Alps, Rockies, Appalachia / Smokies, Andes, and several other places. I have climbed volcanoes in Chile and Panama. I also enjoy historical places such as Egypt, Jordan, Nepal, Thailand, etc... I love going anywhere in Europe or anywhere in nature such as the parks in Alberta or BC, or in the Western USA or Hawaii. I have been fit and healthy all my life, or at least until my son was born. I was a dancer (ballet) until age 27. Since having my son, I've had numerous issues with my health that are still getting sorted out. I enjoy reading nonfiction, genealogy, music, yoga, and learning foreign languages. My challenge is to lose weight and improve my body composition while getting my health issues sorted out, working a demanding job, keeping up my home, and raising my baby boy. Other challenges for me are my sweet tooth and limited time to prepare meals. It's not easy, but I need to make some changes.

I'm naturally an athletic person and smallish but I have horrible habits. I may not be overweight, but I feel better physically and emotionally when I'm thinner and fitter, and isn't that what it's all about? Just trying to get fit, and lose 10 or 15 pounds. Well..I'm back now, and I'm as serious as a heart attack about losing weight and getting healthy. I'm that serious about it because I had one last month; a heart attack, that is.
My weight now is 240. I'm 10 lbs lighter than when I went into the hospital. I've set my goal for a 50 lb loss, but I did that to take it normally, and not to get frustrated.
