Hello, I'm Rachel and I have canned veggies, fruits & meats most of my life. Grew up in the country & now live in the Blue Ridge Mt area in sw VA and have had a garden just about every year. Favorite things to can is tomatoes & peaches, messy but worth the trouble. DD and I get together in Aug & have a canning day to do the green beans & other pressure cooker items, the gd & dsl helps with that also. This spring we are just waiting for the rain to stop so we can replow the garden plot & plant. We have gotten alot of rain this spring.

Hello, I'm Ramy. I have done some canning but since we've bought a new house, we're having to condition the ground and it's slow going. There's a lot of clay in the ground and it makes it pretty hard to grow any good veggies or fruit. We compost, so we have the material, it's just gonna take some time. So far, we've been able to grow tomatoes really well and this year we have a few different kinds but not enough to can anything so they go on salads and in sauces.

I was wondering if anyone here has canned meat? It's something I'm looking to start doing.

Hi, my name is Sharon but my Spark name is SharJoy. I live in the country now after living most of my adult life in big cities. Canning was a part of my life as a child--my mother was the sole breadwinner and we had to find ways to save money. I am so grateful I learned all I did from my mother. Now I am teaching my 11 year old daughter to can.
