Occupation: Bank employee - currently on maternity leave
Biggest Weight Loss Challenge: Sticking with it
Your Ultimate (long term) Weight Loss Goal: To get to a healthy weight (ideally 140) & be fit
A Little Bit About You: I'm a 31 year old first time mom. I've been overweight most of my life (with the exception of college). I had gestational diabetes & high blood pressure at the end of my pregnancy, so I'm concerned if I don't change my habits now, I'll end up with diabetes/hypertension in the future - and they're not fun to manage! I want to be able to run & play with Eva once she gets big enough which will be sooner than I realize, I'm sure! For now, I'm just trying to slowly get back into some Spark habits (like tracking) while I adjust to being a new mom.

Getting healthy today so I won't be sick tomorrow

A Little Bit About You: I love being a mom! We prayed, hoped, and cried for a long time in anticipation of our miracle. Biggest Weight Loss Challenge: Avoiding junk, mindless snacking and emotional eating. I love sweets!
Your Ultimate (long term) Weight Loss Goal: This is my second time being on spark people. The first time in 2006 was a total disaster. I made some nice friends but totally lacked motivation and I gave up and gained even more weight, I was up to about 220lbs. After trying my entire adult to lose weight, I have finally had success, I have lost about 80lbs since the fall 2012, shortly after my son was born. I went from a size 20 (pre-pregnancy) to a size 4/6. I am now wanting to maintain where I am which has been extremely difficult. So I need LOTS of support.
A Little Bit About You: I love music, cooking and shopping. I absolutely adore my family and try to spend as much time with them as possible. I was raised to show love for people with food which is why I find food comforting and often associate family time with eating, I am trying to change that, so that I can be a happy and healthy active mommy for my daughter and son!

I am here to make friends that will support my healthy lifestyle

Little about Me: I am a full time working mom/attorney/finace'/superwoman!! Lots of new developments w/in the last year, new position, engagement, and a baby!! Needless to say..... I am exhausted!

I have really packed on the pounds w/in the last 12 months, from sitting on my tukus all day in the NICU for 10 weeks straight to traveling 80% of the time on business. I feel like I have to do everythign really fast, so most of foods we eat are take-out/processed foods (we recently weaned London from breastmilk) because Im so tired and just want to eat, come home to snuggle with baby and dad and get up to do it all over again. HELP!!

A Little Bit About You: I married my husband 2 years ago, we have been together for 7 1/2. I am a college graduate with a degree to teach math, which after completing my degree I realized I would appreciate never having to use. I like to have fun and laugh. I like shopping, and since we bought our first house this year I like to shop for things to decorate with. I like to do crafts, but I get sidetracked easily and I am notorious for starting projects that never get completed. I am beginning to like the outdoors more. When it comes to weight I struggle. I met my husband in HS weighing in at 155. Over the years I got heavier. When I got pregnant with my first son I was 220. I got pregnant with my second son at 210. I am now 216 and hoping to find some people to connect with while working on becoming a better me.

Ugh nursing issues are the worst I'm sorry I had a horrible experience with my first as well and ended up exclusively pumping after the first few weeks I felt horrible as well but you should be proud that you are sticking with it despite the struggle even if they get bm through a bottle its better than not at all! If it makes you feel better nursing with my second went so much better, for whatever reason she latched perfectly right away and never had any issues were my oldest never quite got the hang of it I have large nipples as well so there is hope that your next time will go better :) also with my oldest I switched to formula exclusively after the first 2 months when I went back to work and I think she's turning out pretty great :)

The reason nursing is a challenge is because we are having nursing issues and it causes stress at times and feelings of failure and I am an emotional eater. I thought it odd while I was pregnant that my breasts never "filled out" or grew and as it turns out my glands didn't grow as well as they should have, so I have very low milk production; I produce between 2-3 ounces collectively ever 2-4 hours. Plus my baby wasn't able to latch because my nips are large; he can latch to one now but I have to pump the other. We have to supplement formula and I'm generally OK with it but it does make me sad at times that I can't properly feed my child. Me and many of the kids from my generation were only formula fed (women's lib in the 70's-you shouldn't have to be chained to your child) and we turned out OK.

When I wake up in the morning till I lay my head to rest, everyday of my life I am blessed!

Welcome Sara! Glad to have you as part of the team and congratulations on your new bundle of joy! You definitely shouldn't count breast feeding as a weight loss challenge it will definitely help you burn extra calories! I was in the same situation as you with my first it was over an hr drive each way to work and I felt like I never saw my LO it took 3 months but I found the perfect fit in a flexible work place much closer to home I hope you are able to find the same! Please let us know if you have any questions :)

My Ultimate (long term) Weight Loss Goal: We are thinking of trying for #2 in about a year and I'd like to be at my goal weight this time.
A Little Bit About Me: I'm 39 and this is my first child so the gap between this one and the next will be around 2 years (if all goes to plan). I am a very fluid person who goes with the flow most of the time. I have a wonderful husband who is a great father to our child from the time I told him I was pregnant. I am looking for a new job while on maternity leave because my current situation is not a great fit and the commute is too long with a new baby. The other piece to the puzzle is that my DH is in line for a job promotion/change that will take him (and eventually me and our son) to his home country of Ghana, West Africa. With so much change and so much up in the air I feel like getting my diet and fitness in line is at least something I can take charge and control of. I struggle doing this on my own and will be joining WW for the nursing mothers program to help me get some structure as soon as I get the green light from my doctor.

When I wake up in the morning till I lay my head to rest, everyday of my life I am blessed!

Hi all. I'm new to this group, but not to weight loss. I've consistently gained and gained a little bit at a time. Now I'm at my heaviest (except for when I've been full term pregnant) and am incredibly discouraged and frustrated.

When I met my husband I was 119lbs and 19 years old. 5 pregnancies, 3 miscarriages, 2 children (ages 5 and one), one international move to Germany, and 5 deployments later I am now at 183. I just stopped nursing my baby girl and the pounds just keep piling on.

I know my biggest problem are my eating habits. I don't use alcohol or tobacco, and don't drink much soda, but being a stay at home mom to two, in a country I don't particularly like, I turn to snacks and chocolate.

I've been working out 5-6 days / week for the last two weeks, and intend to keep doing so. I need to change my diet, obviously. I am on Synthroid because of hypothyroidism (found out about it during my last pregnancy) and anti-anxiety meds related to PPD issues. I've been on them consistently for about a week now (after running out while I was on vacation).

I know I'll never get to 119 again, and don't want to anyway. I just want to get healthier to be a better example to my girls, be happier in my own skin, and actually fit in my clothes (or even need to buy new ones a few sizes smaller. My ideal size would be 6-8, which for me is around 140-150. I haven't been there in 5 years.

Thanks for letting me vent. . . .

Erika

Right now I'm nursing still and I cannot seem to eat healthy... honestly i eat more junk than anything and I am sick of this extra 30 lbs of baby/pregnancy weight. She's 5 months it's definately time to do something about it.
I also am a crafter and enjoy doing that when I am not busy with our little girl and wifey duties.
And I"m sure more will come out about me the more I get to know everyone here :)

Hi! I'm Karene and I'm 34. My 5th baby just turned 1 last month and I finally quit nursing so it's time to really focus on losing the weight that just won't leave. I lost all the weight from babies 1, 3, 4 and 5 but the extra weight I put on from baby 2 is stuck. My biggest challenge is trying to fit in healthy eating and exercise while chasing after so many children (my oldest is 9). My goal is to get rid of the huge hips and rear. Weight always seems to come off the top, not where I want it to on the bottom half. I stay at home (I'm too busy to work) and just need support and motivation which I hope to find here.

Doing it for me. Doing it for my family.

Welcome Becca!! Glad you are here with us. Enjoy that little bundle of joy!! Good luck to you on your weight loss journey and I know you can do it!! I am FINALLY below pre-prego weight but my belly still looks like I'm 4-5 months pregnant. I am also a special mommy that had two C-sections (14 yrs ago and 16 months ago). Guess it will take a bit more time to lose that belly.

Hi everybody!! My name is Jen, from Iowa. I have 3 kids. My son Croix will be 9 this month, a daughter Ellivia is 6 and another daughter Ayven who was 9 months yesterday. I'm a stay home mom during the day and a dance instructor 2 evenings a week. My ultimate goal is to get back to my pre 3rd pregnancy weight if 125. My biggest obstacle is that I love to cook and bake, and eat!! :). In my free time I enjoy gardening, camping and spending time with my kids. I can't wait to have this extra weight off and all if my energy back.

Hey everyone! My name is Sam..from Southern Cali. I have one munchkin and he will be 4 in November. I am a store manager for a retailcompany. My biggest weightloss challenge is not being able to eat whatever I want anymore! My age and metabolism have finally caught up with me! My ultimate goal is just to be happy and healthy and pass my healthy lifestyle onto my son.

I am new to Sparkpeople and looking for some pals along the way. Good luck to all of you on your journeys!

# of Children & Ages: first baby, a little girl named Alexa Elizabeth who will be 5 weeks old tomorrow, April 3rd!
Occupation: I work as an admin assistant, but I'm on maternity leave until January 2014
Biggest Weight Loss Challenge: I was very active before getting pregnant, but after all of the morning sickness (all day long, for 9 months), I'm completely out of shape and have to get my eating and water intake back on track!
Your Ultimate (long term) Weight Loss Goal: I gained 31.5 lbs while pregnant. Alexa was a big girl at 8lbs 14, so I lost 20lbs within a week of having her. I'd like to lose 11 lbs to get to my pre-pregnancy weight and get back into shape. I'd like to run my first 5K in June.
A Little Bit About You:
I'm a first time mom who turned 39 in January. I love reading, running and animals and now that I have my daughter (that I thought I'd never have), I feel like the luckiest woman in the world!

A Little Bit About You: I am 29. My husband and I will be celebrating 10 years of being a couple (we've only been married for a little under 3 years). I love working with kids. We're currently in the middle of buying a house. Things are just crazy as I try to figure out how to make everything work now that there's this little guy in our lives. Your Ultimate (long term) Weight Loss Goal: Ultimate goal of 20 pounds lost.
A Little Bit About You: I successfully lost 55 pounds 10 years ago and kept it off. I only have 8 lbs left of the weight I gained for the baby. I am bfing so I am getting away with a lot of poor eating habits since my body is working so hard to make milk for my 22 pound almost-5-month-old baby! I know I cant keep eating the donuts or delicious lactation cookies forever! So I am hopping back on the wagon *HI EBERKSHIRE* now that I feel like my life is finally becoming a little more normal after the big change of adding a baby to the mix :D

Hey everybody!

My name is Jennifer. I'm in Mobile, AL. I have an 11-month-old son. I am a support manager for a medical software company. My biggest weight loss challenge is learning how to balance work, mommy duties, and taking care of myself. It takes a lot of effort to fit it all in. (Oh, if I had only known how much time I had on my hands before I was a mom!) We are planning to TTC for another within the next year, so my goal is to lose at least 20 more pounds before getting pregnant. (I've already lost 10! Yay!) Ultimately, I'd like to reach my ideal weight and body fat percentage within 1 year after having Baby #2 , which is about 30-35 pounds less than where I am now.

I love SparkPeople, and I hope to get to know some of you on this team!

Thank you for the invite to this group. I have four kids. I got back in shape after the first but haven't taken the time to be consistent after the next 3. My youngest is now 9. I'm probably not your average team member but my abdominal and back muscles are still weak from pregnancy. I need to take better care of myself so I can enjoy my family and be a little less grumpy. My slogan this year is, "The Journey is the Reward". Although I have about 40 pounds to lose, I really want to be in better shape so I can go paddle boarding for the first time, run a 5k with my husband and kids, and go rock climbing on an indoor wall.

Then I met my husband in 2007 and of course you gain weight because you go out to eat all the time for dates. lol Married in 2009 and just had our first child in June of this year. I need to get back on track for sure!

A Little Bit About You:im a mom, a full time employee, and a student! how about that for a busy person, i will be graduating dec. with my associates in education and will be starting in the spring to get my bachelors. it has been a tough journey but a great one. ive gained alot of weight since ive had my little boy and added more pounds since i started school. i try not to use them as excuses but its the truth. im tired of being at my current weight i want to get fit for my son, i want to be able to run after him with being exhausted or body aching the next day. its a tough one but im here to it!

A Little Bit About You: I am a single mom, I'm 29 (Turn 30 next month). I have struggled with my weight since right after high school. I always thought I was big while in school but I never really did anything about it but looking back now I realize I wasn't big. I had a very difficult pregnancy (Gabriel was born at 30 weeks) and I never tried losing the weight I gained. Gabriel's father and I got married in 2006 and still I was so busy raising a family I never tried to lose weight, then we seperated in 2009 and I realized how big I actually was. I was disgusted. I lost about 85 lbs in a matter of months. I have since gained 10 lbs back. My biggest problem right now is my back. I have a herniated disk and it can make exercise impossible sometimes. But I am determined to get back into a healthy weight range.

Hello everyone! My name is Dara, and my LO will be 2 months on Sunday. I was trying to lose 20 pounds before I ever got pregnant, and I gained way more than I expected by the time the baby was born. Since (thankfully) I did not end up with a 30 pound baby, I'm now trying to get back into shape and lose 45 pounds,

Hi! My names Megan. Guess you can call me a seasoned vet, ive got 3 boys. Their ages are 7, 5 and almost 10 month old. My first two I delivered normally and the third was a suprise csection. He was breech, lucky me nobody knew till I went into labor but thank goodness he didn't try to come out bottom 1st, they figured it out before that happened. So I'm way out of shape from that and am hoping things will get back to what they were.

It is such a fun age, my daughter just turned 2 on the 20th ! She is always making me laugh at the things she does/says ! Yeah, the gym for us is about 40 minutes away, even the grocery store is a 15 minute drive away ! I have Jillian Michaels DVD's, Turbo Jam, and I just recently bought Insanity. I don't think I will be starting insanity until I am in better shape though, or at least until this cold is gone !

I find it hard because I live in the middle of nowhere, my fiance is the only one with a car and drivers license and he works a lot, so I cant just go to the gym ! I have found some good at home workouts, all I need to do is find some people who can go through the journey with me, someone to help motivate and someone who can relate to how hard this actually is !

Welcome Leanna! My older daughter had a similar issue when we first started solids with the gagging I just made the cereal really soupy at first and then eventually started thickening it more as she got acustomed to it. It will happen eventually alot of babies have that aversion to a new texture at first :)

He goes down at 7PM. My hubby gets him up at 11 for a night feed, then he usually wakes up again hungry at 5:30AM or so. About 75% of the time, he'll go back down till 7. I realize I'm very lucky in this regard.

We are having a heck of a time getting him to eat, though! The child will take 2-3 bites of formula mixed with rice cereal, then start gagging and make himself throw up. Forget any sort of fruit or veggie puree. I was so excited at the 6 month mark and made him 4 types of food (apple, sweet potato, sweet peas, carrots) and froze them all off in one ounce cubes. Most of them are still in the freezer. For now he's still primary all BM. And I was hoping to wean him in 4 months! Stubborn child :)

Hi all!

My name is Leanna, and I'm the proud mother of an 8 month old boy. Looking to start working out again (and not just counting lugging him up and down the stairs 15 times a day as a workout). Am going to start with yoga 3 nights a week after he goes to bed for the night, as well as counting calories to curb some of the junk food snacking that goes on in the evenings.

Look forward to getting to know you better :)
