Hi! My name is Courtney. I am currently a full time caregiver to my Husband, Karl. I've started to realize the past few months how tiered I was getting, and it just kind of clicked that I have to take care of myself to take care of him. It would be great to connect with some people who understand. I have two dogs and two cats. They are pretty awesome and a great way to exercise. I am also trying to finish a degree in IT. Not sure that I will be able to use it anytime soon, but it will be nice to have. Anyways, I am having a lot of fun getting to know people on spark people, and actually really enjoying this healthy journey. I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day!

Courtney

Hi, I didn't post my intro before so I figured I'd better do it now that I'm back. I'm Jen and I'm a caregiver to Paul and mom of two kids, a 9 year old girl with Asperger's and a sensory processing disorder and an almost 7 year old boy with tons of energy. We also have a dog who I like to go walking and running with when it's a little warmer outside.

It's great to see so many familiar faces! Good luck to everyone as we embark on this healthy lifestyle together!

I'm Joy! I'm caregiver to Michael, with a TBI and PTSD and and bum leg, plus Athyn and Aoibhe, my crazy girls 3 and 1.5 years old, who keep me going. Every day seems like another new crisis, and I'm just plugging away. My goal is just to get in the habit of tracking.

Hi everyone!
I'm Blair and I'm caregiver to my severely injured Warrior. I also have 3 kids, my oldest has Autism. It's been 4 years since my husband's injury and I feel like we are finally out of crisis mode and have discover things that work for us and are getting settled in our "new normal" but we have all the weight gain from the crisis period. :) So now it's time to say GOOD BYE to that. I am lucky to have my husband along with me in this weight loss journey (he's got some he'd like to lose too!) We have been using spark people for a few weeks now and have each lost 10 pounds, soooo I'm super happy about that but I've got a bunch more to go! I feel so gross and when I see myself in the mirror, that's just not me, you know? I don't even recognize myself anymore. I wish I had never let it get this out of hand.... *sigh* but oh well, learned my lesson... moving on!

Hi Everyone,
I am Angie a caregiver to my husband. We have two children 13& 14. I just recently finished my Bachelors of Business Administration /Health Services. For me it was to finish what I had started being a full-time caregiver to my husband I am not sure that I will ever get to use my degree. However it was something for me. I have battled the bulge often and on since my husband was wounded. About a year ago I lost about 50 pounds and now I have put it all back on plus. For me it is not about being a super model but to be at an ideal healthy weight. RIght now I just feel depressed about how much weight I have put on. So I look forward to meeting everyone and for the support. I have joined a gym so I am hoping this will motivate me.

Hello Everyone!

Some of you know me as I had the pleasure of meeting you in NYC at a retreat.
I am Tara Plybon and I need to take care of my health. I have been doing better, but I figured this might help me stay accountable and focused. Who else would understand the demands of a WWW schedule? Just you all.

:-) Tara

Hi ladies :)

I'm Megan. I think I've "met" a few of you online already....

Anyway. I've had success with sparkpeople in the past, back when my husband was deployed..... buuuut it took me almost 6 years to figure out how to get back to that happy place. I'm there now internally..... now I just need to work on the external business and I'll be hot momma again ;)

I'm a full time mommy to a 4 and 11 year old..... I'm not really a regular caregiver... my husband is done with surgeries for at least the immediate future... and he has a full time job and everything.... but I'd definitely say that our lives definitely deal with a constant level of stress that we've just grown accustomed to and learned how to deal with and overcome.

I'm also a baker. Which is not great for the waist line..... but it's all good. I totally love the decorating part the most more than the eating part... haha..... and I've been around the sweets so much, it's not difficult for me to pass them up when I have little extras or oopsies. Needless to say, my family and friends and kids classrooms haven't wanted for sweets :) haha I won't taunt you with pictures of my goodies, promise ;)

Right now we're in the midst of signing a lease on a new place about an hour away from our current home..... sooooo stress control won't be possible until after June is over! haha But it's all good :) I'm saying no to outside crap.... and taking care of myself first... and my little family second :)

Hey everyone, my name is Tanya (pronounced Tonya, I just say my mom can't spell, lol) I have 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys ages 17, 16, 14, 9, and 4. My 17 year old is already out on her own with her 1 year old daughter and she hates me and my husband so we never get to see her or my granddaughter. My husband has TBI, PTSD, and nerve damage and my brother who has PTSD, Agoraphobia, and an in operable blood clot in his heart also lives with us and helps me take care of my husband. I have put on 30 lbs since Christmas and no matter how much I can't stand this I just can't motivate myself to workout. I have been feeling down lately and think that being a part of a group like this will help me to get motivated and willing to devote some time on me in stead of everyone else in my life. Thank you Torrey for starting this up.

Hi everyone! Torrey must have known I needed some outside support! I'm a mother of 3 girls, & my hubby makes 4. I need to lost weight, don't want to set a "number" to be specific. I'm having a complete hysterectomy in July so am looking forward to recovering and getting moving again! Looking forward to talking with other caregivers who have the same issues I deal with!

Hi everyone!

Please take a quick moment to introduce yourself. :) What are your goals and what do you hope to achieve through this group? Offer as little or as much info as you wish. Thanks for joining!

I am Torrey, and I created this group because I know we all struggle with the same things: Stress being top on the list. My health got really bad a few months ago, so I joined a gym. Well, without a workout buddy or accountability, not much has changed overall. My husband is also dealing with some significant health issues. I am hoping that we can band together to create small changes for ourselves, which then translates into better changes for your veteran as well. The only people we can change is ourselves. I am long overdue.

The first week's goals are really easy, yet they are things we forget to do for ourselves. All I want for everyone to focus on the first week is to sleep better and increase your water intake. No exercise is required, unless you want to jump in and start doing it!

I had joined this site a few years ago and really had great success with it. I lost a lot of weight, gained a lot of muscle tone (and energy to go with it!) and I miss that physique and overall sense of well being.

Thanks again for joining...please feel free to send this page to anyone you know. The more we band together, the better!
