I am on the proverbial "hot seat" with my team "Black Girls RUN!" Each week, my co-leader selects a team member that the team supports... and I LOVE THIS CONCEPT and assumed that everyone else on the team would be supported through this initiative... just not me. My name is Starlet (seriously, that's my 1st name from birth... 70's baby, all the way!).
I can remember being very shy as a child. At various points in my life, I desperately wanted someone to support me, help me, encourage me in the areas where I felt I was falling short. So, instead of retreating further into myself... I pushed myself to become everything other than shy and introverted (lol) and I happened upon a quote by Ghandi during undergrad:
"Be the change you want to see in the world."
In a sense, this is a true glimpse of who I am. For other people, I am the loudest cheerleader, the strongest advocate, consistent supporter....
Supportive sister (biological, Kingdom of God, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc)
Always seeking ways to help and serve others or my community... expecting nothing in return except results. All of the aforementioned roles, more often than not, are thankless. Nevertheless, the feeling of knowing that you helped someone else accomplish something meaningful in their life is PRICELESS.
At this point in my life, I am embracing the fact that GOD is my source and my strength. He gifted me with the will to encourage others. Through HIS strength, I can do all things.... everything I am towards someone else and their goals is ALL that I need to be towards myself and my own goals.
So, who is Restored_Me? I am an encourager. I am becoming the manifestation of promises GOD gave me in HIS word and in my heart. I am just me, being me...
