Hi everyone!
I know this is late but it has been a crazy couple of months. When I first found this website I had no permanent access to a computer. I inherited my 16 yr old son's laptop when my husband and I bought him a new computer before he went back to school. I have sporadictly read a few articles but did not get serious about SPARKS til 8/31. By that time I had SPARKSMAIL from a lot of teams and been trying to add one at a time along with trying to find my way around the site.

Almost 2 years ago I hit my max weight of 248. I joined a weight loss challenge at work and lost 32 pounds and managed to keep it off and almost got down to 200 lbs. Then last spring I went to Disney World and had the free dining plan. Needless to say I ate way too much and then had trouble getting back on track. Before I knew it I was back to 225. Well I'm ready to get back on track and I'm amazed at how much SPARKS has to offer.

I am currently recovering from a surgery and am looking forward to adding some aerobics and strength training hopefully this weekend. Right now I can only walk and can not lift anything above 5 lbs.

I'm looking forward to getting to know many of you and wish you luck in your journey to a healthier life. Sorry I was a little longwinded.

Another day another step closer to a healthy life.

Kathy

Hey, I'm new to this so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right?
My name is Jacklyn and I'm a 30 stay at home mommy of three beautiful children; Ranaesme (ranae) who is 8; Ethan who is 5 and Elliana who is 18 months old. My wonderful husband and I have been married for 9 years and have been highschool sweethearts. We live in West Michigan and have been here all our lives (though for my growing dislike for winter I hope to move to a warmer state someday, if only I can talk my husband into it!)
My roller coaster weight loss has been going on since I was 13 and after my three children were born I have somehow forgotten about me? And in doing so I ballooned to 250 which is the heaviest I've ever been! Now I wish to find the new me, I also had a passion for running before my two youngest were born, I wish to find that again as well.

HI, I'm new here, too. I've got two sons, and 18 year old who's heading off to college next month, and a 13 year old that will be an 8th grader. My youngest son has JRA, and we are getting ready to start Orencia for him, which is pretty intensive. My husband hurt his back last fall, and has only been able to work sporadically since then, and my mother has had several strokes in the last few weeks, and is currently in rehab (and hating it, and trying to guilt trip me into coming to live with us). I stay pretty busy, needless to say, and I feel overwhelmed so much of the time. I tend to use that as an excuse to not eat like I should. I'm hoping to break that bad habit

Hi team! I'm Mantha and I joined on July 8th. I am loving how much inspiration and motivation I am getting from SparkPeople. My goal isn't so much to lose weight as it is to maintain my current weight and firm up some of my problem areas. I really hope that I can give back as much as I have been getting out of this site!

I am creating the life I want to live!

Hi everyone, I'm Fiona, and I just joined last week and am thrilled to be here. I need to lose 50 lbs and I also want my lifestyle to revolve around healthy living and physical fitness. My first goal is to get in six workouts a week (either the gym or aerobics DVDs at home) and lose 10 lbs (I'm taking it 10lbs at a time so that I don't get overwhelmed), and to also track my food.
Good luck to everyone!

Welcome Joyce to the team. You are doing well in starting off with a good attitude, lots of support, and a determination to change your lifestyle. This isn't about dieting for a little while, but getting to goal weight and staying there.

Hi Everyone! My name is Joyce. I joined SP about a week ago. I LOVE this site and use it daily. I am currently at the heaviest I have ever been. . . 214. I am the mother of 4 grown children and 2 grandchildren.
I work a minimum of 40 hrs a week in Omaha and am on call 24/7. I am having a hard time with the exercise but FINALLY started my walking program last night. emoticon
My son has set me up with his X-Box and a Dancing video game so that I can alternate my activity.
Support. . . I have lots of support! My husband and kids are my biggest supporters! They offer to walk with me, help me with dinners, and tell me how proud of me for going on this journey.
Soo, week two of my Journey begins!

Hey Everyone! My name is Jen. I joined SP about a week ago, and so far so good. I am currently at 175, which is the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I never thought I would be having this issue at 26, but here I am, and I am determined to do something about it. In college, I used to run 3 miles a day, and then hit the gym after that. All while going to classes full time, working part time, and still maintaining a rocking social life. I have NO idea how I pulled that off. Now, I work a ton, and I commute about 3 hours a day (1.5 hours each way). I think that's the part that is dragging me down the most. I am always just so tired, I don't have the energy to hit the gym. Part of my job is to entertain clients. Whether its huge fancy lunches and dinners or happy hour, it just always seems like its hard to stay healthy.

Tmw is my first official weigh in, and I am pretty excited about it! I've already made some changes to my life. First of all, since I don't always have the time and energy to go to the gym, and I spend so much time sitting on a train, I thought the first big thing I could do is walk from the train station to work and vice versa very day. Now, in the morning and afternoon (weather permitting of course), I walk 25 blocks (which is about 2 miles) to and from work in order to catch my train. This gives me a chance to get a little bit of exercise in! I had a lunch this past week, and instead of indulging I kept it light and ordered sushi and skipped dessert while everyone else indulged in their crab cake sandwiches and cheese cake. Its all about one step at a time right?

Here goes nothing! :)

Hi all--

My name is Courtney. I've actually been on SP since April but due to technical difficulties with my puter, I have to start all over. 3 months worth of stuff--gone. So, I'm not a total newbie. I've managed to lose and to gain since I've been on but I'm back on the losing side so I'm happy about that.

My short term goal is to lose 10lbs. by Sept 1. and my ultimate goal is to lose a total of 70lbs. and adopt a healthy lifestyle I can keep up with.

I'm on disability so I have alot of time to spark and monitor my eating. I'm doing better (way better) since joining SP and just have to keep myself on the right track.

I find SP such a great tool in the weight loss and healthy living battle.

I am bipolar and for some reason bipolar peeps tend to turn toward carbs and that is a problem for me. I'm working on it though. My main exercise is walking 2miles/day. I do some cardio but I don't last long at it. I'm going to keep trying though. I have osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease in my back so cardio is hard for me. Walking is best for me. I try to do it atleast 5 times a week. I lost 30lbs. before spark and want to lose 70 more. That would bring me to my"healthy" weight.

So, that;s me and I hope to hear more from u guys. I try to post, huddle, track, and visit my teams everyday and I'm looking forward to being an active member of this team!

Courtney emoticon

Hi everyone,

My name is Linus and I'm a Canadian living in California. I'm a technical trainer for a software development company and that results in a lot of travel. All that travel with constant eating out (TSA tends to frown on weird things coming through the x-ray belt) and lack of exercise has give me a kegger instead of a six pack (or a 2-four as we say back home). In fact, I'm currently writing this from the American Airlines lounge at LAX. I love the travel but not the weight gain.

Add to that the constant tired feeling and it's nearly shot my creative side. I'm in the process of writing a book on my company's software but have been experiencing massive writers block. When I'm home I see a personal trainer at least 3 times a week, an hour each visit. I've been trying to ensure that when I'm on the road that I walk at least an hour a day (in addition to the pacing and meandering I do at the front of the class).

I think one of my biggest challenges (and part of why I'm here) is that I can envision the finish but often don't do the little steps to get to the end. I try to do it all in one shot, and that just leads to failure. So I'm hoping that changing my lifestyle and a little bit of my thought process will help.

I'm very open about myself so if anyone has questions ask away :)

Hey! My name is Anna. I am from Minnesota, I'm 25 years old, and I have almost 3 year old twins (boy and a girl). I was on SP right after my kids were born. I lost 25 lbs, and ran my first 5k two months after they were born! After they got out of the "easy" newborn stage (sleep, eat, and poop), I found it harder and harder to focus on me. Now that they are older, my job has less surprises, and I get a little more time to myself I need to get real.

I really just want to be healthy for the rest of my life.

I also kinda want to get into clean eating.

My long, long, long term goal is to lose 110 lbs. That seems really daunting, so right now 50 lbs. Still a pretty big leap though haha...

Short term goal is to step out of my comfort box. When I was on SP before I never posted anything to the message boards, and I didn't feel connected to anyone. I want to change that! I want to get as active as I can, and meet new people!

Hi! My name is Brianna. I just turned 29 about a month ago. I am around 280 pounds and I want to lose *around* 100 pounds by the time I turn 30. I needed a lifestyle change badly. Today was the first day of my healthiness.. I did a lot better at exercising than I thought I would! I know some days will be tough but I have so many things around me to keep me motivated, including this site, which looks awesome by the way!

My name is Raye and I'm 25 year old female. I'm fairly active with my dogs but hit a weight loss plateau at 260 lbs. So I'm cutting out all sodas, giving up ALL fast food, and starting to work out more. I know that it will be a long process but I want to get back down to 175lbs. Ready to get to a healthy weight!

Hello all. my name is janell. my goal is to shop under the teens.... eventually. for now i'm going for under 200 lbs by my birthday next year. my husband is helping me set short term goals as well. I struggle every day... I'm a chef. I currently work as a full time baker at a full service restaurant so I am surrounded by foods that are not conducive to weight loss for 50 to 60 hours a week. I look forward to getting know people and help support you all in your journey as I make mine. emoticon

Hi. I was using sparkpeople ages ago and just getting back to it. I'm currently 260ish lbs and want to eventually get to 160. Right now my goal is to get to 250. Small goals work better for me. I live in NE Arkansas and I'm a librarian. Not sure what else to day in an introduction! LOL

hey, I am xena. and I was at SP 2yrs ago but didnt do anything worth while, so I left and have come back w/a new name and much better attitude. Weight Loss is the goal, but how much and when it happens is not a pressing issue (i'm sure it might should be) but if i get too wound up about it, I'll faiL. I am notorious for faiLing. emoticon ...

my husband and I belong to the Ymca, we go some, but dont have a good routine yet. I would like to find out what pieces of equipment are used at curves and workout at my Y w/the same mentality of the Curves idea. I know I'd look like a fool, but who cares when you reach my age! LOL.

About 8yrs ago I weighed almost 300 pounds and this week my lowest weight was 176 pounds. So, I feel like I have accomplished something. But, I still have the bad fat on my belly and my muscle tone (like you can see my muscles) HA ... has gone emoticon !

My SP page says a lot about me, i think, and I'll be adding blogs as my world screams share.

First day to a healthier life. I am trying very hard to be diligent about keeping track of my food intake and my portions. So today is a new day, and I have the confidence that I will conquer my food demons, and to do this I need to REALLY be aware of what I put into my body. I will love and be kind to myself. emoticon

I'm new to posting messages. I have lost 50 pounds since the first of the year, but still have more to go. I fight through each day. I will admit that I wanted to eat to celebrate - but will work to resist. I am not an emotional eater - but would love some chocolate chip cookies today. Anyone have another suggestion!!

Evening all! I'm so ready to get re-started on this journey. It's not the working out that's a problem, it's the nutrition that gets me. I know how to lose the weight, it's just doing it. I know it will be tough but I've done it before I can do it again! 35lb weight loss here I come! Good luck all! Keep each other motivated

Hello. Over the past few years, I have slowly gained weight. It seems like every summer I need to buy new shorts/pants, and I keep getting frustrated. Every summer, I try something new.. counting calories, running, exercise videos, etc. They seem to work for a little while, but then they either stop, or my life changes and I slowly fall out of whack. I am hoping that SP will help me not only stay on course, but change my life back to a healthier (and lighter/skinnier) me.

Hi everyone. I'm new to Spark and just learned about it today, so am looking for some motivation to help me lose that last 50 pounds. Would love some new friends who are on the same journey. I lost 40 pounds early last year and have kept 30 off, so know its possible, but it's been difficult getting back on track! HELP PLEASE. Thanks emoticon

Hi!
I've been on spark people once a few years ago and lost about forty pounds. I was doing well with keeping it off but I broke my leg recently and between stopping exercise and continuing to eat like I was running 5 miles a day, I gained about 20-25lbs back :(

I just got my cast off last week and was approved to start exercising again so I'm ready to drop these extra pounds and get back into my jeans!

My goal is to lose all the weight by my birthday on Oct 28, so that's 3 months and 20 days to lose 25 lbs

Anyone looking for a spark buddy, let me know, having someone to chat with really helped me stay motivated last time and I would love the support this time also!

Good luck everyone, I know we can do it :)

Hi, my name is Nicole. I've been a spark member for quite a while BUT this time I'm really taking it seriously... I mean, like, I've been here since 2007 but now I'm going to do it, for real! I'm getting older (who isn't, right?) and my daughter is starting to wear me out, I've got to get better at this energy thing or I'm not going to be able to make it through her teen years. LOL

I am the other team leader My name for spark is Iajoeb say EA as in Maria Long E short A
Joe my middle name and b hubby's first initial.
Don't ask we had just gone to a convention in San Francisco then went to Yosemite for a week and were looking for a place I could post my food on the computer. I still cannot find the day of my first post but I think it was September 9 2007 or 2008 ??? I was using hubby's lap top and started the journey to loosing 40 pounds. I have kept off and been on plateau for two years living without 30 of those pounds. I keep looking for my start date and cannot find it.

So I am also working on attaining a waist instead of a waste.
I have lost and kept of 8 inches on my waist. I went from a size 2x to a woman's large.
I can actually find things that fit me at Kohl's.

So I know your pain and want to encourage you to challenge yourself on exercising and small consistent changes.. My favorite Spark concept is ..... Consistency..
