Ann, WELCOME to the team.

You have taken the first steps on your Journey. "Diet" IS a four letter dirty word. LOL I like to think of it as a lifestyle change instead of a diet. Once my body hears that word I swear it shuts down. It also has a temporary connotation to me.
A lifestyle change makes me think in longer terms.

There is a grp of very dedicated & helpful Ladies here. Dont hesitate to ask for help, support, etc.

Welcome, Ann! It most certainly is NOT too late to join to 50 ways challenge - PLEASE DO!

If you look in the Meet Ups forum on this page, we are having a meet up on the 14th in the evening right near you at Thrift Town...more as a fun way to look around and get to know each other. You don't have to buy anything but we would love to meet you. We have a lot of members who buy some "transition" clothes at thrift stores to save money as their bodies are changing, so we think this would be a fun outing. We also will be having another meet up before Christmas...more news about that later.

Some of us also meet every Saturday morning on the NE side to train for a walking half marathon (which is free because we invented it!) which will be completed on January 12th. Everyone is free to join up and walk with us. You can read about this in the Half Sparkathon thread!

Hello all!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to this group. When I signed up for SparkPeople, it automatically put this group on my page, so I guess I'm a member!

My name is Virginia... but I go by Ann. My mom has the same name of me, but since she was here first, she was able to claim Virginia for herself - LOL.

I live in Northeastish San Antonio -- off Thousand Oaks. I work full time as a Project Manager, and go to school part time, working on my Master's Degree in Management.
I have no kids, but a very supportive husband.

I'm not sure what happened to me, but I woke up Sunday and decided it was time to get healthy. I don't need to look like a model, but I do NEED to get fitter. I weighed in Monday morning (I'm kind of weird about that -- have to start new projects on Mondays) and tipped the digital scale at 235.8. Yep - I put it out there. I figure one of the first steps on this "project me" is to start being honest with myself.

I'm not following a specific program, but am counting my calories, trying to keep them in the 1200-1300 range. I actually took the time to calculate my BMR and that's where I need to be to drop weight. I really don't exercise either - but that's coming next.

I have repeatedly, repeatedly, REPEATEDLY starting diet/exercise programs where I go all gung ho. I load up on Lean Cuisines and salads, I join a gym, I buy workout clothes and new tennis shoes... and the whole thing implodes in a couple of weeks. So this time I'm trying a different strategy -- baby steps. Once I get to a place where I don't feel like I'm hungry all the time (cravings I'm sure, not starvation by any means!) and my healthy food choices become routine, then I'll add regular exercise to the plan. Remeber - baby steps.

So anyways -- I'm looking forward to meeting some of you. I read over your 50 Ways challenge. Not sure if I'm too late to join or not. But I did copy over the 50 Ways list and will work it on my own. Hopefully I'll "talk" to you all soon!
