Hi,

Thanks,

I'll send some out in the next couple days. I have one more essay to do for University, and plan to get that done in a day or so. The fall semester is getting close. As soon as I have that finished I'll send out the recipes. In the interim if I've posted them on Recipezarr I'll forward those.

Leanne good for you. Sometimes it takes being a detective to find out where our problems lie. Last summer I was gaining and not changing my habits. I looked over all my ww trackers and realized I was eating grapes daily. In my points allowance but I don't do well on sugar. I get migraines. I thought natural sugar was ok. I stopped the grapes and lost the weight...
if you have low cal/fat recipies to share I most definitly would be interested...diane

Thanks,

It just goes to show that if you persist, use the internet, your doctor etc you may find out why you have gained weight. As soon as you know that you are on your way. (It's six pound now without changing eating habits. Generally I eat salads, yogurt and chicken and vegetables. For groung meat I use ground turkey. I have not change a thing. Worth a try if any one is on medication that could be related to weight gain.

I have quite a few low calorie meals which are also low in sodium which can cause bloating. I can publish them if anyone is interested.

Hugs,

Leanne

I haven't updated my scale yet but I've lost 5 pounds in a week just from switching anti-depressants.I knew that is what caused the weight gain in the first place. Who can gain 20 - 30 pounds in a year without changing their eating habits. Apparently I could. So always keep in mind sometimes medication causes weight gain and you have to talk to your doctor if you suspect this may be the problem.

Cath welcome to the group. Good for you taking care of yourself. It seems you spend alot of time caring for others..,.it is your turn now.
Have you thought about joining weight watchers. I know it is not for everyone but it does work when you think of it as a lifestyle.
Take care...diane

Hi,

If you are able to deal with HIV you are a wonderful person. I'm sure you can meet your goal. Just remember that you are as important as any one else. You must be a very caring person, and I think (my own opinion as a social worker )that we sometimes care about others to our detriment. This ia a health issue for you, so it is important for you to take care of yourself as well as your patients. Are you by any chance depressed; that causes some of the symptoms you have described.

Keep in mind (and believe me it's hard when you are dealing with people who you consider worse off than you) that your problems, whatever they may be have to be considered as well. Take care of your self and try not to bring work to home. I know it's hard to do. When someone tells you in confidence that they have considered suicide there is a fine line on whether or not you can get someone else on board. All I can suggest is to take care of your self. I've had the same issues and am on anti- deppresants now.

I wish you all the best. It doesn't hurt for those of us who are professional's to go to another to get help. We are just like everyone else.

If you ever want to share stories or frustations send me a private message and I can give you my phone # or e-mail address. It never hurts to talk to someone who has similar problems. Sharing ideas alway helps.

Hugs,

Leanne

I am an RN working in the HIV/AIDS world. I have always been overweight even though I have tried everything to lose the weight. I am determined to lose 50-60 lbs in the next year so that I can be at a healthy weight and live a long life. I also have diet controlled diabetes and have high colesterol which I want to also get under control. I have never done anything like this and I hope it helps me a lot.
