There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

Good points Jenn. I'm an LVN on my way to becoming an RN. I would like to eventually be a nurse instructor, so I have a few years work ahead of me too, we'll see how long it takes. I also feel that if you want to be taken seriously by your patients you can't be obese, it's like one smoker telling another one they should quit. The only way it would work is if one says "let's do this together". So here we are! Good luck and God's best to you.

I'm Jenn, I'm currently a registered nurse but I will be starting a family nurse practitioner program later this summer. That will be a 3 year adventure. I currently work as an organ procurement coordinator and as a health writer, but I'm an SICU nurse by training and I've also done home health.
I want to be a thin and athletic nurse practitioner. I've lost 32 of the 176 pounds I want to take off so far (thanks SparkPeople!). I want to give advice about health and not have people look at me like they would have to be nuts to take the advice of an obese person who clearly doesn't know anything about maintaining their own health.
