“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.”

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

Wonderful to have you joining our Team and SparkFamily!

I'm a fellow social worker as well and I SO know what you mean as far as allowing the caretaking part of me get out of control. One thought I find that helps is to re-frame my perception of myself as a client of mine: If I was a client of mine, what would I recommend for me? Apply the same caretaking that you so generously give to others toward yourself!

A second thought: taking care of oneself can sometimes be experienced as though we are being "selfish." Another re-frame: if you take good care of yourself you are replenishing your "well" so that you have even MORE that you can offer within your caretaking role! So in actuality taking care of yourself is truly an act of GENEROSITY toward your clients, family and loved ones!

Kudos for posting your quandary to our Team! Keep coming back to share your thoughts, feelings, trials, tribs and SUCCESSES to get the MOST from your SparkTeam!

Hi all. I'm a social worker and just give give give. Its what I've done forever. I've worked hard at putting myself first. But I've done that unhealthily. So now, my goal is to put myself first and lose weight.

I'm asking for help. I'm looking for help.
