Hi DEBRARN2. Welcome to the group. I'm an oncology nurse as well. The shift work definitely makes eating healthy and being on a schedule a true challenge. I'm also an emotional eater at times, which can be a bad mix in oncology. I constantly have to ask myself, am I hungry or upset.
It's awesome that you only have 16 pounds to goal! Obviously what you did in the past worked for you. I know that you will get back on track and reach your goals. Good Luck!

Don't obsess over weight loss. Wellness is about making your life bigger, not smaller.

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

You've come to the right spot and you're so smart to get on it early. A healthy lifestyle just happens when you're cruising along on this site if you log in and start.There is a lot of success to look at on this site!
Happy New Year -- oncology nursing is a special sort of art. I took New Year's dinner tonight to an 89 year old friend who is in hospice. He has esophageal cancer diagnosed in May and he bolted down sauerkraut and pork ribs like a 20 year old!! I couldn't believe it! No one thought he would be alive, much less eating at this point. We congratulated ourselves on being tough old birds who got through a pretty difficult year. His wife died last Jan 16. Ah well -- here is to another year for old birds and nearly old birds, bless us one and all.

Howdy! I'm new at this site and hoping to lose 16 pounds. Would be great to have good motivational feedback from those who are succeeding in their weight loss! Getting started is the hardest for me. Hoping for some good clues. I've been an Atkins fan for years and have been successful for over 9 years. But the last 2 years have been tough for me with working more hours and less exercise, so my eating habits have gone to "pot"! Anyway, here's to a great new year for us all!
