Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. This is new to me, but I think it's going to be ok. I go next week for another sleep study for the sleep apnea, and hopefully after that I will get a handle on all this.

This is a forum I believe for anyone with lung breathing problems..asthma being just the main type. Welcome.
Like trying to breathe through a straw is how I describe my asthma attacks, with a lot of wheezing and tightness in the chest area. I have had it for so long that I know the feeling without using my air-flow meter. I have found that sitting quietly, drinking water slowly and just not thinking about anything but the rhythm of my breathing helps me a lot. Sometimes a cup of hot coffee actually helps. Don't think it is the coffee..its the hot liquid that eases the mucus drainage.
It is a disease that unchecked can cause a lot of damage. Therefore, my advice is to follow any advice your doctor gave you to the T. He knows best. And don't panic. With proper control it will ease up. AND if you smoke QUIT~~~~please.

Hi Everyone

I hope Im not here under "false pretenses"! I have recently been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, and at the same appointment I was told that I don't have asthma, but rather restrictive airway disease. A lot of the same symtoms, but not obstructive in nature. I was given a maintenance inhaler, and a rescue inhaler.

I'll admit, I know nothing about either asthma or RAD. But it seems that I have a lot of the same issues that you with asthma have, so I think I will learn a lot here.

I have a real phobia about not being able to breathe, so I hope I can pick up some tips about how to control the anxiety I've been feeling since this diagnosis.

Thanks for "listening"
