Hi Mom!

I'm mom too and three keeps my hands always full, especially with my 7 year old asthmatic! Actually, for about a year now, my hands are less full because she is no longer gasping!

You asked what helps you breathe easier and I want to share our success with our daughter because I believe others too can benefit from this all natural approach to asthma control...

Instead of using her drug inhaler, she now puffs on a salt pipe two times a day for 10 minutes each. It is based on the ancient but awesome practice of halotherapy, otherwise known as salt therapy. The use of pure salt for health related problems is well documented. Nowadays, it is used throughout hospitals for acute lung problems and even used widely by cystic fibrosis patients via hypertonic saline treatments.

You can learn more about how pure salt is safely and effectively used for respiratory patients and other health problems at: www.saltrocks.org/Library_Mineral-Investig

I hope this helps and that you can find hope in halotherapy the same way we have...

I would try maybe gettimg the doctor to change the Pulmicort and see if there is something else that might control the asthma better. My daughter uses Asmanex or there is also Advair that might work better. There is also a new one called Symbicort that I have heard it also pretty good. I would check into that to see if it would help you. Also are you seeing a regular md or a lung doctor. Sometimes the lung doctor can figure out what is best for you more than a regular doctor can. I use my allergist to control my asthma and he does a great job of it. I wish you all the best and hope things get better for you.

I am new to this board (actually didn't know there was a board for asthma support - so glad there is). I have been having a hard time with my asthma since October, but lately it's gotten really bad. I have a lot of mucous I can't seem to cough up (sorry TMI) & my Turbo Jam workouts have become almost impossible to do. I've upped my steroid (Pulmicort) to 4 puffs, 3 times a day, but it doesn't seem to be helping. :-(
I REALLY don't want to have to go on oral prednisone again - I was on it 3 times in the last year!!
Any suggestions? Homeopathic or otherwise?
What helps YOU breathe easier??
