I can't remember not having asthma, but those totally unexpected attacks can be scary. At least you have the right medicines on hand now.

Welcome and glad to have you with us. I was first diagnosed with my asthma when I was 32 and would have never dreamed that was what it was. My grandma had it really bad but also had it most of her life. I take Pulmicort for my maintenance inhaler and for relief it have Xopenex. I am doing fairly well with my asthma now to and the weight loss has helped me out. My daughter also as asthma but takes Asmanex for her maintenance. Good luck and take care.

Hi all,
I just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Sara, I'm 21 years old and, even though I started SparkPeople in January, I haven't done anything with it until now. I've finally motivated myself enough to make a change.

I was diagnosed with asthma a few years ago. I remember the night it happened, I was working when, all of a sudden, my breathing--which, up until then, I had taken for granted--became difficult to do. I couldn't drive myself home and had to be picked up. The next day, I took a visit to my doctor, and she diagnosed me with asthma. I didn't know a whole lot about the disease then, but thought that it was something that normally happened to small children. She told me that she often has people 65+ with their first documented cases of asthma, and that it's something that can strike at any time. Since then, I've been having a lot of difficulty with my breathing. I'm finally getting it under control, but it's been expensive and exhausting. I'm so glad to be a part of this Team!

I want to be a LOSER and LOSE THE WEIGHT!
